First date

.

.

.

"You're late" Quinn's eyebrow quirks as Santana rushes to sit next to her.

Santana checks her phone, shaking her head "Please. I have one minute to spare. There was along ass line at, doesn't matter...here"

"Are you serious right now?" Quinn laughs "I cannot believe you brought a loaf of bread. You know most girls bring flowers on a first date sometimes even chocolate. Are you even allowed to bring this into a restaurant?"

"First of all, I'm Santana Lopez and I do what what i want. Second of all it's gluten free and third, I'm not most girls" Santana laughs "Flowers are overrated and die in like a week. Now every time you have a sandwich or toast….You'll think of me. As if you needed an excuse for that though."

Quinn laughs, shaking her head "You know what. I was promised charm and eloquence on this date. I think I prefer you lost in a grocery store"

"The hits" Santana throws her head back laughing "I didn't realize I'd be on a date with a comedian. I should have brought my red clown nose."

Quinn playfully tosses her napkin towards Santana who is trying to control her laughter.

"Okay okay" Santana says, offering the tossed napkin back "In all seriousness , tell me about you Miss Quinn Fabray, what do I absolutely need to know"

"Well, let's see. I'm twenty nine, turning thirty in a few months. Youngest of two, which you already know. I live on the upper east side, I'm a lawyer." Quinn smiles, folding the napkin onto her lap. Quinn notices Santana has slightly shifted forward as if hanging on every word and it makes her smile. Quinn's been on a few failed, horrible dates theses past few months and not once has the other person given her this much attention. Santana looks as if she's on another planet so Quinn decides to have a little fun "Oh and I killed someone a few years back but I paid by debt to society and I'm good now"

"That's great" Santana responds, her right hand is under chin and her left index finger tracing around the wine glass. Realization hitting as her eyebrows shoot up "WAIT, what?"

Quinn reaches her wine, laughing "There you are"

.

The two sit in a comfortable silence for a few minutes watching as the live band plays. There's something about Santana that calms Quinn, she can't put her finger on what it is but she intends to find out. Santana on the other hand seems more confident, carefree as she orders, lightly joking with the waiter. Normally that would make Quinn jealous but the way Santana's thumb is gently stroking her knee seems to put Quinn's racing mind at ease. Quinn allows Santana to carry on and even order for her, something she has NEVER allowed anyone else to do.

.

"Tell me about you, Santana"

"Well, I'm twenty eight, turning twenty nine this year. Only child. I have two roommates, Rachel and Kurt, we all went to high school together a million years ago and currently I'm finishing up my first book."

"You're a writer?"

Santana shakes her head "I pretend to be one. I've spent two years writing this book and don't tell anyone but I'm super excited for it to be finished and….out there. Then there's….."

.

The rest of Santana's story fades. Quinn's head slowly tilts to the right and she shifts to have a better view of her date. Quinn takes in the woman's perfect features, the way Santana's dark brown eyes seem to be lighter than they were last time she saw them, maybe that happens when she's happy? Quinn's eyes rake over the girl's features. She takes in the tight red dress that hugs every curve perfectly, almost as if the dress was specifically made for that body. Quinn knows she's being rude. Straight up disrespectful, eyeing her date instead of listening to her story but can anyone blame her?

She's on a date with a literal goddess. The racing thoughts consume Quinn's mind and she can feel a blush beginning to creep up, beginning at the base of her neck, now filling her cheeks and finally reaching her….

.

"Quinn Fabray are you being a perv right now?" Santana laughs, reaching to touch the girl's ear.

"I don't know what you're talking about"

Santana laughs, shaking her head "That's because you're being a perv instead of listening but it's okay. I don't blame you, I look hot tonight and you're only human"

Quinn laughs, playfully shoving Santana as the waiters place their meals down. Each take turns sharing their dishes with each other. Santana orders another bottle of wine as the two get lost in conversation about any and everything. Almost as if they've known each other forever, picking up from where they left off in another life perhaps?

Quinn reaches for her wallet but is quickly stopped by Santana "What are you doing Fabray?"

"I'm paying for my half?"

"I asked you to dinner, why would you pay? Sorry pretty lady, this one's on me. You can grab the next one"

Santana offers a small wink towards the blonde and Quinn has a feeling she won't be paying for a while.

.

The two make their way through the crowded restaurant but a waiter steps between them and Quinn loses Santana in the crowd.

As Quinn continues walking she feels a hand slip into hers. The smell of perfume lets her know it's Santana. Quinn moves closer into the girl, intently watching Santana's face as she'd intertwines their fingers but Santana's focus remains on almost becoming a human shield, keeping Quinn close and protected as they maneuver through the restaurant. Quinn pulls her jacket against her as Santana hails a cab.

.

"Can I see you again Quinn?" Santana asks, opening the cab door for her date

Quinn carelessly tosses her purse into the cab before turning back towards the eager woman "Sprouts or Trader Joe's?"

Santana laughs "Oh hell no. Rachel told me Whole Foods is nothing like…..never mind, not important. Not another grocery store please"

Quinn leans against the door and Santana takes the opportunity to wrap her arms around the girl's waist "How about I cook dinner for you? You can meet my roommates"

Quinn plays with the collar of Santana's pea coat making sure to maintain eye contact even though all she wants right now is to pull Santana against her.

"You move fast Santana Lopez, second date and already wanting me to meet your roommates?"

Santana smiles, brushing away a stray piece of blonde hair "Please?"

Quinn sighs, gravitating towards her date. "How does anyone ever say no to you?"

.

Their lips finally meet and it's more than either imagined. For Santana it's confirmation and for Quinn it's overwhelming. Santana's grip tightens as Quinns arms pull the girl impossibly closer. It isn't until Santana's right hand slams against the cab that Quinn pulls away.

.

"You okay?" Quinn asks, attempting to slow her breathing and all Santana can do is nod before burying her head into the blondes neck "I'm trying to be good and respectful but you're making it impossible Quinn Fabray"

Quinn leans her head against the cab laughing slightly, her right hand gently messaging the back of Santana's neck while her left hand grips the girl's coat "Can we schedule dinner for Friday? But can I please see you again tomorrow?" Santana exhales deeply, only nodding against Quinn's neck "Yes Please"

Santana pulls back slightly and rests her forehead against Quinn's. Both women's eyes closed as their breath mix. Santana's smile grows every time Quinn's breath hitches.

"YO. We goin or what? I'm not gonna sit here all night, even if it is hot to watch" The cab driver yells, causing both women to jump.

Santana rolls her eyes and Quinn laughs, pressing a few more kisses onto Santana's lips before entering the cab.

"See you tomorrow, gorgeous" Quinn husks out as the cab drives away leaving a love struck Santana Lopez in her wake.

.

Santana hails a cab and leans her head against the seat. Her eyes close as she replays the date, a smile she hasn't felt in years creeping up. It's a short ride back to the loft. Santana smells her coat, Quinn's perfume invading her senses. She stands there for a minute before placing the jacket on the rack. Santana waves to her roommate's who sit huddled on the couch, tissues in hand, watching some sappy movie.

.

She enters her room and lays on her bed, once again smiling when she feels her phone buzz.

Quinn : I had a great time tonight Santana. I wasn't sure if I told you or not.

Santana: I had a great time too, Quinn. I can't wait to see you again

Quinn: I can't wait to kiss those lips again. Movie tomorrow?

Santana smiles, replying: Yes, please.
