Disclaimer: I do not own the works any of these snippets are based off of.

This is a sort of catch-all series of individual scenes, snippets, drabbles, and other similar mini-writing projects which I have done in response to various prompts, mostly on the LU discord server. Topics covered, characters used, quality of writing, and chapter length will absolutely vary from chapter to chapter, and outside of each scene, none of this is linear.

Entry 4: Kikwi vs Lava

Prompt: Gotta Go Fast

Secondary Prompt: Angst This Prompt

Well, they told me to angst the prompt...

...Challenge accepted. :)

The moment they all fell out of the latest portal, they realized something was wrong. While most of the Links were all present and accounted for, there seemed to be...an addition to their party.

A little kikwi had grasped onto Sky's sailcloth from his position in the middle of the group. It was now curled into a ball, gasping for breath. They had landed in the Eldin region of Wild's Hyrule, and the little plantlike bulb on its back began to catch fire from the heat.

This was the absolute worst location for a kikwi to be.

Wild was the first to react. Scooping up the kikwi and cradling it in his arms, Wild rushed towards the closest border of Eldin that he knew of with all the speed he could muster. A moment later, he passed Wars, who had landed a bit farther away than the others, and was staring after him in disbelief. "Wild! Where do you think you're going?"

"Can't talk now, Wars!" gasped Wild, "Gotta go fast!"

Moments later, he finally reached the border, and was able to half-run half-stumble his way down the rocky mountainside until he reached a pool of water at its base.

He was tempted to just toss the creature into the water, but he managed to hold back the impulse and carefully lowered the poor kikwi onto the ground. He began gently splashing water over the burnt portions of its bulb and fur.

Did I make it? he wondered. Is it gonna be okay?

The kikwi lay motionless upon the grass. For a painful second, Wild was genuinely afraid he hadn't gotten it out in time. However, after a moment of terrifying stillness, it slowly pushed itself up and began to lap slowly at the water.

Wild breathed a sigh of relief. The kikwi was listless and groggy, and obviously in pain, but...it was alive.

It was alive.

He could work with that.
