Disclaimer: I do not own the works any of these snippets are based off of.
This is a sort of catch-all series of individual scenes, snippets, drabbles, and other similar mini-writing projects which I have done in response to various prompts, mostly on the LU discord server. Topics covered, characters used, quality of writing, and chapter length will absolutely vary from chapter to chapter, and outside of each scene, none of this is linear.
Entry 5: Whispers Of Memory
Prompt: Echoes Of The Past
Title would've been "Whispers Of Remembrance" but it was too long for the chapter title box.
This one is a bit more serious-minded than most of my fic snippets tend to be, but- hey, I can be serious sometimes!
Takes place in BOTW; not technically LU, but could be counted as "pre-LU" if you want.
Link knelt in silence in the empty meadow, eyes closed, face lifted toward the sky as a breeze brushed over his cheeks and ruffled his hair.
A memory had just come to him...It was gone, now, but the feelings it invoked remained, creating a strange combination of joy and heartache, gentle warmth followed by stinging cold, fullness and emptiness in equal measure.
What was the memory about? He wished he knew...had it been a memory? Or a vision? Perhaps a dream? It was hard to say. Everything felt a little unreal right now.
The breeze blew harder, shifting into a light wind. He opened his eyes, and gazed across the meadow. The grass swayed to and fro, and the light played over the shallow puddles sprinkled over the ground.
Link breathed in deeply, then let it out in a sigh. He stood to his feet, shrugging off the lingering traces of static in his brain. He stretched, drew his sword, and swung it a few times for the sheer sake of it. Then, he began to run off towards another Tower, hoping this one wouldn't be quite so...annoying as the last few had been.
Behind him, a small, rare flower waved innocently, nearly hidden within the tall grass.
(Link had no way of knowing it, but it was the same flower his mother had grown in her garden once upon a time when he was small. It was also the one they had planted upon her grave.)
