Little Notice Before You Read: Rosalina is entirely a character of my own design that I solely created in the universe of C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia. She's also meant for the films. Thank you and have a marvelous Valentine's.
It was Valentine's Day in Cair Paravel and a glorious after dawn had shone through the window of the incumbents' room, which prompted the king to wake up first in their bed. He turned to look at the sleeping figure beside him and whispered in her ear. "Vous etes si belle, ma cherie." This made a smile creep on her rosy, pink lips, as she loves hearing him speak French. It's what sparked their romance, after all. She chose to wake up at that point and looked back at him. "Merci, mon cher roi. C'est la Saint Valentin, oui?" He nodded as she leaned against his claimed-by-her heart, which made him smile.
When they both got dressed, High King Peter was wearing a blue and black shirt with white pants held up by a dark brown belt, a white jacket with a caped red interior and black boots while High Queen Rosalina was wearing a dress with an ivory ruffled top, lightly puffed sleeves that rest off the shoulder, a waistband and a skirt in her trademarked "Gardenia Green", her necklace matching the top of her dress, earrings that dangled with roses and a hair clip with gold leaves, pearls and flowers attached to it, her rose red waves brushed out delicately and shining brilliantly thru the sun. Peter held her hands and kissed her tender, rosy, pink lips as he wrapped her arms around his waist.
She followed in and gave him a kiss back. "Are we just going to stay here or are we going to be part of a welcoming committee?" Peter looked in her green eyes and purred, his regal Leo coming through. He then thought about it before answering his wife. "Neither as I have something different in mind, but it may take some time. Do you mind the wait, ma loyaute reine?" Rosa shook her head lightly. "Not in slightest. Just make sure you return to me." It was no secret that Peter had many admirers, but he would always dissuade any rumors by explicitly stating in many anniversary speeches during anniversary parties that his heart would always belong to Rosa. "Don't worry. My heart's key belongs only to you." He tells her as he kisses her forehead. She watches him depart shortly after.
He first went to Vietta, the tailor. She looked at him and smiled. "Happy Valentine's Day, your majesty. I have the blanket all stitched up for you. Let me go it and I'll be right back." She wheeled to her storage room and looked for the blanket. "Now where did I set it? Ah. There it is." She got out the folded daffodil yellow and iris purple, checkerboard pattern adorned picnic blanket made with the finest cotton and set it on her lap before wheeling out of the storage room and returning to Peter. When she did, she handed him the blanket. "Here you are, your majesty. Wish her majesty a Happy Valentine's for me, will you?" Peter nodded as he took it. "I will. Thanks again."
She smiled and resumed her next project after he left. When he reached his destination, the basket weaver smiled. "I'll be right with you, your majesty. I'm almost done with this flower basket for your niece, Aelisia." Peter nodded. "Take your time, Japheth. I'm in no rush." When the basket was completed, he went to Peter and bowed. "So, what can I help you with on this lovely holiday?" Peter thought about it, then gave this request. "Do you remember the basket I wanted you to make a couple of months ago?" Japheth tried to recall. "The wicker one with steel inlay?" Peter nodded. "I'd like it please." Japheth smiled. "But of course. Let me go receive it." Peter waited as Japheth went to his storage room. He looked at Aelisia's painted, wicker basket and smiled. "She's going to love this."
After Japheth came out with his basket, he set the blanket from Vietta Inside and took it. "Thanks." Japheth smiled and bowed again as Peter left. As he went on his way to his next location, he ran a checklist in his head. Blanket? Check. Basket? Check. Plates and etc? Uncheck. He then turned to the glazer's room and upon arrival, he smiled at Ilaria. She curtsied and looked at him. "Hello and Happy Valentine's, your majesty. I imagine you're here for your plates and etc?" Peter smiled, which told her he was. "They're on the shelf with your name on it. I'd get them myself but my hands are full of dried clay and paint." Peter listened understandably and went to get them himself. Once he found them, he set them neatly in the basket and came out. "Thanks again, Ilaria." She nodded and resumed her current project skillfully.
Now that those were checked off, he went to the kitchen. He set the wrapped plate of scones in the basket, which was followed by a few covered plates of eggy bread, some containerized crumpets, a chilled pitcher of freshly squeezed orange juice, a teapot holding Rosa's favorite flavor (Dragonwell Green), and a fruit salad consistent of cherries, strawberries, cubed watermelon, cubed passion fruit, sliced red delicious apples, sliced crimson crisp apples and red grapes. Then, he went to the garden with the filled picnic basket. He carefully picked some red roses, tied them into a bouquet and placed the bouquet in the basket. Finally, he went to the master chocolatier's, who bowed at his entry." Hello your majesty. I have your box right here for you." He took the box and handed it to Peter, who set it in the picnic basket. "Thank you, Kieryn. Rosa just loves how craft these just for her." This led the chocolatier to smile and bow shortly before Peter's departure.
"I'm glad she loves them as much as I love making them for her. Have a happy Valentine's Day, your majesty." After Peter left, he returned to Rosa and set the picnic basket down. "Are you staying this time?" She asked him, hoping the answer's yes. "Yes and no." He responded as he got out a silk blindfold. "I have a surprise for you, but I don't want you to peek." Confused yet curious, Rosa let him tie the blindfold on her. After that, he picked up the picnic basket, held her hand and left Cair Paravel's walls with her. He took her to her favorite plateau that has a maple tree on top of it and a wonderful view of the garden in the adjacent horizon. After he helped her up, he got everything out of the basket. He started by spreading out the blanket, followed by placing the plates on top of it and getting out the food.
Then he got out two cups, his orange juice and her green tea. He helped her sit down beside him and removed her blindfold. "So, do you like it?" Touched and stunned, she was left speechless. After finding her words, she kissed him passionately. "Peter, you've outdone yourself this year! How could I ever thank you?" This led Peter to kiss her in return and hold her hands as he looked in her her beautiful green eyes. "Ma chere Rosalina, tu es ma reine. J'ai toute votre gratitude simplement en etant votre soutien eternel et votre mari merveilleux qui adore vraiment votre essence meme car vous m'inspirez toujours." Though she had a clue on some of what he just told her and some she didn't, she grew touched by his French statements. "Oh, Pete... How I only love you!" After sharing an embrace, they ate their breakfast and had a good time together. Breaking the odd silence, Rosa handed him a small box.
"Here Peter. I made the contents just for you while you were conducting my surprise. I know it's not much, but I hope you like it." Peter opened the box carefully and removed the handmade gift out so he can look at it. The gift was a photo frame made with tree branches and green yarn around them to mimic vines. Inside the photo frame was a picture, but not just any picture. A painted portrait of their wedding day was inside that frame. "Oh Rosa... I love it as much as I love you. Here's my gifts in return." He handed her the bouquet of red roses and box of chocolate. Rosa happily took them and inhaled the pleasant smell of her favorite flower. She felt like she was at home as she exhaled. Setting them down to open the box of chocolates, she smiled. Inside were chocolates that were carefully crafted to mimic the shape of roses right down to the petals. As she took a bite out of one, she felt freshly made and warmed peanut butter collide with the dark chocolate. "Mm..." became her noise of delight.
This was no doubt her favorite way to enjoy chocolate and especially her favorite way to enjoy a romantic day with her husband. When she finished the rose, she started to eat, she smiled and closed the box. "Thank you, Peter. You always know how to make me feel loved." Peter smiled as he held her close. "Je ne serais pas moi sans toi. Tu m'as ensorcele esprit et ame. Personne ne pourra jamais prendre ta place dans mon cœur." She mostly had no idea what he told her, but she loved hearing it. Both content, they watched the morning turn into noon together. A romantic breakfast and a blissful way to end the morning. ~End
