"Why, hello there! I didn't notice you walked in." Bucky says as he removes his glasses
"My name is Bucky O'Neil. I was a Civil War hero who later fought alongside Teddy Roosevelt in the rough riders. But my chicken was my crowning achievement!" Bucky exclaims as he dumps a wheelbarrow of chicken onto the ground
"Heh! When everyone else was looking for gold nuggets, I was looking for chicken nuggets! My chicken was so popular among the locals that they traded all of their land for it! Heh! It's quite convenient. And That is how the town of Aberdale came to be. YEE-HAW!"
"Why hello there-
The commercial continued to loop itself as Chad breathed heavily at the screen waiting for the line at rough riders to move up. As he got closer to the front of the line, Chad noticed that the aroma of the fried chicken was overwhelming. He could almost taste it before even placing his order.
Finally, it was Chad's turn to order. He stepped up to the counter and was greeted by a server who asked, "What can I get for you today?"
Chad hesitated for a moment before asking, "Can I get the chicken that started the town?"
The server rolled her eyes and replied, " 4 piece, 6 piece, or 10 piece sir?"
"I'll take the 10 piece!" Chad said, excited for the food.
Chad took his chicken and headed to a booth to eat it. Mary had been out on a business trip for a month now, so Chad was pretty much on his own. As Chad chomps on his cholesterol filled chicken pieces he looks at the TV in which Aberdale news is on.
*Aberdale news intro*
"Welcome to Aberdale news, only the real unbiased Aberdale news is told here. Today we are following the story of the 4 missing kids, who recently where lost, here are their pictures"
"Heh that kid kinda looks like Clarence" Chad said to himself
"The four kids who are missing are named as follows, Ryan Sumoski, Jeff Randell, Chelsea Keezheekoni, and…"
Then suddenly the channel turned back to the Bucky O'Neill commercial
"Aw man I was watching that, oh well" Chad says as he continues to eat his chicken.
"And Boom! A puff of feathers erupted and all there was left was a pile of chicken nuggets on a silver platter, true story." Said Bucky, as the group now sitting in a circle laughing and having a good time.
"Okay Okay, all these stories are great, but we should really get going, do you have a car Bucky?" Jeff said while wiping a tear of laughter off his face.
"Psshhh, Of course not" Bucky Said confidently while everybody sat silently staring at Bucky.
"I have a jeep!" Bucky Said after a long and awkward pause
"Ohhhhh" Everybody said simultaneously
"Come on guys let's go over yonder" Bucky Said while he starting walking presumably towards it
Everybody followed behind Bucky, excited that they where finally going to get home.
"Welp here it is" Bucky Said, pointing at his rusty red Jeep parked off to the side.
The group piled into the Jeep, which seemed to creak and groan under their weight. Bucky revved the engine and the Jeep sputtered to life, making its way down the dirt road.
As they drove, the group chatted and laughed, sharing stories from their summer adventures. But as they approached a bend in the road, Bucky suddenly slammed on the brakes.
"Whoa, what's going on?" Chelsea asked, looking around.
Bucky pointed out the window towards a figure on the side of the road. It was an old man, hunched over and struggling to carry a large bag.
"We gotta help him out, that's just what we do in Aberdale," Bucky said, pulling over to the side of the road.
"Man We're not even in Aberdale" Sumo says in anger
"C'mon Sumo, i'm sure if you where old you'd like some help" Said Clarence
The group hopped out of the Jeep and rushed over to the man with sumo reluctantly, offering to help carry his bag.
"Thank you, thank you," the man said, grateful for the assistance. "I'm just trying to make my way to the next town over. I'm a traveling salesman, you see."
As they walked, the man shared stories of his travels, of the different people he'd met and the adventures he'd had. And as they approached the town, he turned to the group and said, "You kids remind me of myself when I was younger. Full of spunk and adventure. Don't ever lose that spirit."
With that, the man bid them farewell and continued on his way. The group piled back into the Jeep, feeling a sense of warmth and camaraderie.
"Another adventure for the books!" Bucky exclaimed, as he turned the key in the ignition, and began to put his foot on the pedal. It seems Bucky forgot to turn off the car before going to help the old man, and while they where gone all the gas was guzzled up.
"Well darn guys, it seems we're out of gas" Said Bucky, disappointedly.
The group looked around, trying to assess their situation. They were in the middle of nowhere with no gas and no idea how to get home.
"We could try walking back to the town" suggested Chelsea.
Clarence chimed in. "Maybe we could walk there and get some gas?"
"Yeah but we'd have to push the jeep all the way there" Jeff replied
"I don't wanna do that" Sumo says with annoyance in his voice
"Maybe we don't have to, do any of y'all have a cellular device we can call a tow with?" Says Bucky
"Yeah but i have no signal" Says Jeff
"Well Maybe we can use a phone in the town the jeep, so we don't have to push it, for now we can just walk there and get a place to stay for now" Bucky suggests
The group looked at each other, considering the idea. It was their best option, so they all agreed to start walking in the direction of the small town.
As they walked, the group started to feel the effects of the hot sun beating down on them. They were getting thirsty and tired, but they kept pushing forward. After what seemed like hours, the group finally made it to the town as the sun began to go down. They stumbled into the first shop they saw, a small convenience store, grateful for the cool air conditioning and the opportunity to rest their tired feet.
As they walked through the aisles, they picked up some snacks and drinks to quench their thirst. They also asked the store clerk if there was a phone they could use to call for a tow truck.
The store clerk kindly allowed them to use the store phone, and they soon had a tow truck on the way to pick up their stranded Jeep. With that settled, the group decided to find a place to stay for the night.
They asked around and found a small motel on the outskirts of town. It wasn't much, but it had clean beds and a shower, which was all they really needed after their long journey.
As they settled in for the night, they reflected on their adventure-filled week. They had been lost in a store and left behind, walking the Arizona desert until they reached a forest in which they lost their map. Almost went toe to toe with a bear, resulting in them meeting the mascot of Rough Riders. Encountered an old man in need and helped him, made their way to a new town, and even managed to find a place to stay for the night. It wasn't exactly like they had planned they're "Field trip" to be, but it was an adventure nonetheless.
