pRon and Hermione knew after the birth of their first child that it wasn't going to work out for them. To their credit, they tried to hold it together and even had a second child. Finally, they had to admit it to themselves and each other. They weren't cut out for marriage, at least not to each other. They were screaming and fighting, on the verge of hating each other. Soon it reached the point where Hermione would leave the room every time Ron came in or Ron would go out with his friends and stay out all night. By this time, all the problems in their relationship had come to a head. They sat down one day and just talked. They discussed all the problems and possible solutions. They talked about each other's bad habits and admitted their own fault in letting it get this bad. After airing out all their problems, they looked at each other and came to the same conclusion. Ron grinned teasingly at Hermione. Then he dropped to one knee and took her hand. Hermione was dreading what he might be about to say. What he ended up saying had her laughing her head off. "Hermione Jean Granger-Weasley, would you do me the hugest honor of divorcing me and being my best friend forever?"/p

p"Ronald Weasley, it would my greatest pleasure. As long as you will also be MY best friend forever." Hermione playfully answered him. They hugged each other tightly, a little sad but knowing they were doing the right thing for themselves and their kids. Then they went to the Burrow to sit their families down and break the news to them. Both sets of parents were shocked, but Ron's brothers had suspected, for a while that it was coming to this point. Harry wasn't surprised either. After all, Ron had confided to him on their wedding day, how shocked he was that Hermione had actually been willing to marry him, as much as they fought. /p

pTheir divorce went through so quietly that nobody outside the family even suspected the truth. All they knew was that Ron and Hermione were suddenly getting along much better. The couple decided that they would let the kids know why mum and dad didn't live together anymore, but not right now. When they were both old enough to understand, then they'd sit down and tell them everything. In the meantime, they proudly co-parented their children with no more screaming or fighting. One day, while Hermione was at the park with the kids, she saw a familiar face. It was Lavender Brown, wistfully watching her and the babies. Hermione invited her to sit down. They talked about their school years and the years since then. Lavender carefully avoided mentioning Ron. It was Hermione who finally brought him up and casually mentioned that they were no longer married, all the while side eyeing Lavender. She didn't miss the way Lavender lit up with hope. It was then she decided to play matchmaker. /p

pShe pulled Harry into her scheming. He had surprised everyone by not only not getting back together with Ginny, but also hooking up with the last girl anyone would ever suspect. Pansy Parkinson, the girl who had tried to turn him in to Voldemort in the battle of Hogwarts. It had made a big splash on the front page of the Daily Prophet at the time. Now everyone was finally getting used to the idea of Harry Potter and Pansy Parkinson. It had taken Ron and Hermione a while to get used to the idea as well. Now, she and Pansy went shopping at least two times a week, if not more. Pansy gleefully rubbed her hands together at the thought of doing some matchmaking. Unbeknownst to Hermione, while they were scheming the hookup of Ron and Lavender, Pansy was also keeping an eye out for someone to hookup Hermione up with as well. /p

pThey started out by inviting Lavender to a Christmas party at Grimmauld Place. Once she arrived, they made sure she was seated beside Ron. At first Ron was uncomfortable with the presence of an ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend at the same table, until he saw Hermione's sly glances at Pansy and himself. Then he grinned slyly back at her and started talking to Lavender. Before long, he found himself asking her out. Lavender jumped happily at the second chance to spend time with him. With Hermione, Pansy and the rest of their friends cheering them on, Ron and Lavender were soon dating and contemplating marriage. /p
