pThorfinn Rowle despised Becky Selwyn. He'd known for years that she was a gold-digging attention seeker. Now his father actually wanted him to shackle himself to her! They fought about it at every family meal and gathering. It got to the point that Thorfinn actively avoided going home as much as he could, instead crashing on the couches of various friends and teammates. Finally, he decided enough was enough. He would marry the little gold digger, but only on his own terms! He went home and laid out the conditions to his father. The older Rowle was outraged, but he knew if he was going to have at least one grandchild, this was as good as it was going to get. /p

pThorfinn told him he'd stay married to Becky long enough to father one child, JUST one child! That's all he needed to keep the family line going, was just the one child whether it was a boy or a girl. After they had the child, he would be allowed to divorce her. He refused to stay married to her any longer than he had to be. Knowing she was only doing it for the money, he told his father he'd sign over his entire Quidditch fortune, but she was NOT getting a penny of his family fortune. That was their child's inheritance. It was his third condition that almost sent his father through the roof. He refused to sign the marriage contract until the fidelity clause was removed. His father argued that without that clause, Becky could easily become pregnant by anyone else and claim Thorfinn as the father. Thorfinn raised a brow at him. "I never said to take it out of her vows, father. Just my own. Besides, if she knows what good for her, she'll stay faithful even without the clause. Otherwise, no money bags for little Becky. " His father reluctantly agreed to those terms. He hoped that once Thorfinn and the girl were actually married, he might change his mind about the divorce. But his son was stubborn, and he didn't budge easily once he made up his mind. /p

pThey held the ceremony a month after the battle of Hogwarts. Thorfinn promptly went on tour with his team and was never home more than a month or two for the next eight years. If she wanted his money that bad, then he'd make as much as she could cram into her little black purse. Becky was slightly thrown off by his long absences, but she knew better than to reprimand him over it. After all, she'd been the one who talked her parents into pushing for the match. He hadn't wanted anything to do with her. And for eight years, she did get bragging rights as not only Lady Rowle, but also wife of the most insanely talented Quidditch stars to ever walk out of Hogwarts. Finally, he came back long enough to properly bed her and attend a very, select few social gatherings. It was here that he was able to mix with former classmates and teachers. Professor McGonagall talked to him about his quidditch career, asking what plans he had for after quidditch. He'd always enjoyed his Potions class, but due to lower grades than Professor Snape had liked, he'd never tried to push further into any career involving potions. McGonagall stored that little tidbit away for future reference. /p

pAfter making social rounds with her for a total of one month, Thorfinn had never been happier than to hear her announce that she was expecting their child. He promptly dropped everything and went back on tour, after reminding his father of their agreement. One child, who was now on the way. His obligation was over for now. Becky was furious that he had left her to carry and birth their child alone. She was positively enraged to discover that her figure was going to be 'ruined' even more as she wasn't carrying just one child, she was carrying twins. Her father-in-law on the other hand was overjoyed at the thought. So much so that now he didn't mind that his son would soon be demanding a divorce. Two grandchildren! He hoped for two boys, but he wouldn't mind if it happened to be a boy and a girl. /p

pThorfinn was in a game, playing in France when he received a letter from his father, telling him his twins had been born. A boy and a girl. While he'd been gone, Becky had met an American wizard who stayed after discovering that she didn't have a husband hanging around. They had become closer and closer until Becky herself was anxious to be out of her marriage. When she went into labor, her father-in-law went in with her. She had the babies and allowed herself to be pampered for a few days by the hospital staff. Then she walked out on the arm of her American wizard who had come to tell her goodbye. The babies were promptly forgotten about, and Lord Rowle easily took custody of his grandchildren. Now that Becky was gone, surely his son would finally come home. As it turned out, Thorfinn almost didn't come home. He and another Beater got into a fight after the game, nearly killing each other. It wouldn't have been so bad, except they tangled while they were still in the air. They jinxed each other off their brooms and would have plummeted to their deaths had their respective coaches not caught them before they hit the ground. Thorfinn came home to discover that was a father to twins and a free man. As her new beau was filthy rich, Becky hadn't bothered to ask for any kind of monetary settlement, instead allowing the divorce to go through, uncontested. She hadn't fought them on the custody agreement either, leaving Thorfinn with full custody of their children. /p
