Setsuna's Small Nightmare

The morning sun shined through the window of Setsuna Higashi's room, stirring her from her slumber. She opened her eyes but immediately had to shield her eyes from the sun.
"So bright" she thought to herself. Then she looked down at her hands and wondered "Do I deserve this second chance?" she then got up from the bed and then changed from her red pajamas into a red shirt with a white stripe going down the front of it, blue jeans, and red heeled shoes. She then went and opened the door to her room leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
With the rest of the Momozono family asleep Setsuna made her way to the kitchen as quietly as possible so as not to wake up the rest of the family and fix herself something to eat. After that brief stop she made her to way to the front door and opened it to head outside.
Clover Town Street was a shopping district in the town of Yotsuba. It had many shops and houses. Even early in the morning there were already people going about any business that they had to deal with. As she came upon buildings that looked familiar to her like the stadium where Trinity performed the night, she first encountered Cure Peach as Eas.
Next was the construction site where she used one of the cards to power up her Nakewamke that she had summoned but it was at the expense of some of her life force. Another time was a boy named Takeshi and his dog a female golden retriever named Lucky. Eas turned the dog into a monster to fill up the Misfortune Gage, however, thanks to Cure Pine the dog was purified and returned to normal.
All of these memories caused Setsuna to sigh as she still questioned why she was brought back to life and as a Pretty Cure no less, after Labyrinth had no more use for her and decided to kill her. Finally, she came upon Karou's Doughnut shop in the park and decided to walk over to a nearby table and sat down. Inside the van Karou noticed the girl sitting at the table. Taking a freshly finished doughnut he opened the door to the van and walked out with-it hand and walked towards the table and gave it to Setsuna who looked up at him in confusion.
"You looked down so I thought a doughnut would cheer you up" he said with a smile.
"But I don't have any money" Setsuna replied.
"It's on the house" Karou said.
"I see" then she took a bite of the doughnut and marveled at the taste of it. "It's delicious thank you!" Setsuna exclaimed in happiness.
"You're welcome" answered Karou.
"Can I ask you something Mr. Karou?" Setsuna asked.
"Sure, what is it?" Karou asked.
"Do you believe in giving second chances to people who've done bad things?" asked Setsuna.
Karou thought for a moment before responding to the question. "The way I look at people is the way I look at doughnuts. Sure, I may mess up on one or a few but instead of feeling down about it. I pick myself up and try to do better the next time. It is the same with people. All people deserve a second chance" Karou answered.
"I see" replied Setsuna, thinking about Karou's words.
Meanwhile back the Love household. Tarte was trying to wake up Love from her sleep, albeit with little success.
"Come on Peachy time to wake up" Tarte said giving one last push to Love's arm to no avail. Chiffon meanwhile clicked her ears together and glow the glow then surrounded Love's body as it was then levitated into the air which finally caused Love's eyes to stir and opened and then they went wide in shock.
"Wahhh! Chiffon, please put me down" pleaded Love. Chiffon obliged and gently set Love down on her bed. Then she looked at the clock on her nightstand and saw that it read 9:30 AM and once again eyes once again went wide.
"Oh no I'm going to late." Love said in a panic as she grabbed a set of clothes and headed to the bathroom to change. When she came out of the bathroom. She was wearing her casual outfit of a pale pink long-sleeved shirt with a pink vest, denim shorts, a brown belt, and pink and white sneakers with mauve socks. She then walked over to Setsuna's room and knocked on the door.
"Setsuna It's time to get up" Love said however, she did not hear a response. "Setsuna?" Love questioned, as she opened the door only to discover that Setsuna was gone.
Panic began to set in as Love rushed down the stairs and out the front door to find Setsuna. First, she checked the bowling alley but she wasn't there. Then she checked Miki and Buki's places, but she had not been to those either. Finally, she checked one last place, Karou's doughnut shop. It was there that she found Setsuna sitting at the table. Then she ran towards them
"Setsuna!" Love shouted. Setsuna turned her head and saw Love coming towards her.
"Ah Love" Setsuna said getting up from the table.
"Setsuna I've been looking everywhere for you" Love said.
"Ah sorry I just needed some air, and I didn't want to wake anyone up" Setsuna said.
"Come on let's go home" Love said.
Setsuna nodded and turned to Karou. "Thank you for the doughnut, Mr. Karou" Setsuna said.
"You are welcome young lady the next time you come here. I hope to see a smile on your face" Karou said.
With that the two girls left the park and began to walk back home,
Meanwhile at the Fortune Telling Mansion in the woods outside of the town. The two renaming members of the Labyrinth Trio Soular and Westar were producing plans to fill the Misfortune Gage to with enough sorrowful energy to find Infinity so that their leader Moebius could take over all of the parallel dimensions.
While reading a fictional book Soular came across an interesting quote from one of the characters in the book.
"It's always been my dream to be a lead actress in a play and now I have achieved that goal" said the lead female character of the story said the lead female character.
"Dreams?" Soular questioned. Closing the book, he got up and walked towards the door "Perhaps if I turn these dreams to nightmares it will fill up the Misfortune Gage" thought Soular as a sinister grin crossed his face.
Meanwhile Setsuna and Love were walking home from Karou's Doughnut Shop until they came upon the familiar cream and pink colored house where Love's family lived. Walking up towards the front door they were unaware that they were being watched by Soular in his human form as Minami Shun watched as the two girls enter the home as he smiled.
"Eas you desire to overcome your past will be your downfall" he said as an evil smile crossed his face.
"We're home!" Love shouted.
Welcome back you two" said Love's mother Ayumi said, "Although Setsuna if you wanted a tour of Clover Town Street all you had to ask."
"Yes, I'm sorry for worrying all if you" replied Setsuna.
"It's alright dear" Ayumi replied.
After a peaceful dinner Setsuna changed into her red pajamas and prepared for bed, she returned to her to bedroom and climbed and covered herself with the blankets, turned off the lights and fell asleep.
Meanwhile outside Soular put his plan into motion.
"Switch Over! Nakewemeke do by bidding!" he shouted as changed from his human form to his Labyrinth form of grayish skin who has long grey hair and green eyes. Along-sleeved black shirt that has a light green pattern on it with black-teal trousers and black tuxedo shoes. Over the shirt, there is a black-teal west tied with teal ribbons. A silver belt with a green gem on it, black gloves and a cape that is pale green on the back and black on the front attached to silver shoulder boards that has white ruffles.
he threw a green Nakewmeke diamond card right into Setsuna's bedroom where it struck a dreamcatcher above Setsuna's bed, turning into ae was Nakewmeke, although this one was unusually smaller than others about the size of a toy.
"Now go and invade her dreams" ordered Soular. The monster then shrunk down even further and entered through Setsuna's ear and planting itself on her brain and spreading dark energy across it. Setsuna's dreams would soon turn into nightmares.
Setsuna woke up and found herself in a what looked to be the veterinary office that Inori's family ran in Clover Town Street, but everything was much bigger from her perspective.
"Why is everything so big and why do I feel fur on my face? Questioned Setsuna.
She looked at a nearby stethoscope scurried up to the silver part of the device and investigated it and found that she had been turned into a mouse causing a look of surprise to cross her face,
"Why am I a mouse. What is going on here?" questioned Setsuna. However, before she could figure out the answer to that question. A figure walked out from the darkness and much to her surprise. It was her friend and fellow Pretty Cure Inori Yamabuki her auburn colored hair was done up in its usual style with side tail. She was dressed in a lab coat, black pants, and brown loafer shoes. From Setsuna's newfound perspective Inori towered over the table still Setsuna had to get help.
"Inori Its me Setsuna please I need your help." pleaded Setsuna. However, Inori just ignored her and reached for the stethoscope to pick it up and placed it around her neck then she used her other to flip Setsuna's furry body over to her back and used the device to check Setsuna's breathing as well as her pulse before she took off the device.
"Well, your breathing that's good at least now we can begin the tests" said Inori and then she got up and walked away from the table and disappeared into the seemingly endless darkness, leaving Setsuna alone for a moment with only her thoughts to keep her company.
"What could she mean by tests?" Wondered Setsuna. Then she could see Inori return with a large brown bag in her hands. She reached into the bag, pulled out a hamster wheel, and set it down not too far from Setsuna before Inori reached back into the bag and pulled out a large maze-like structure and she sat the down beside the wheel.
"Okay you are first going to get on the wheel and test your stamina by running as fast you can while I hold a stopwatch" Inori explained.
Left with no other choice Setsuna hurried over to the wheel and climbed into the wheel.
"All right ready set and go!" Inori shouted as she started the stopwatch.
Setsuna started running as fast her paws could carry her. She felt her muscles work themselves as she continued to run as the stopwatch continued to tick down her muscles began to ache as time passed by very slowly as the running continued until the stopwatch finally hit the triple zeros.
"Time's up!" announced Inori allowing Setsuna to collapse onto her stomach from exhaustion giving her a brief respite from the exercise routine.
"I'll give you a ten-minute break" Inori said as she then left Setsuna alone once more.
"I'm tired but I still need to get out of this situation" Setsuna said before closing her eyes for a brief nap.
Ten minutes flew by, and Setsuna was rudely woken up by Inori returning to the table "Okay it's time for the next test. You're going to run this maze here and we'll see how you do" Inori said and then she set up the maze in front of Setsuna. The girl turned mouse walked up to the entrance of the maze and prepared for what was to come.
"Alright let's begin" Inori announced.
Setsuna then took off running as fast as she could despite her exhaustion from the wheel exercise from earlier. She then came across her first wall as a roadblock of the maze and then she turned around and went another direction and continued through the maze. She then came upon another wall that blocked but she just repeated the same process from before got out of another blocked path.
Finally, she reached the end of the maze and collapsed from exhaustion once again. Then she felt herself being lifted by Inori's hand.
"You did an excellent job on the tests" Inori said petting Setsuna. Then Inori continued.
"However, it is a shame that I'll have to put you down" announced Inori as a sinister smile crossed her face. Then she closed her hand around Setsuna's small body, and she began to squeeze.
"Ack, Inori what are you doing?" Setsuna pleaded. However, Inori just continued to smile evilly and then began to squeeze tighter and tighter until a loud snap was heard, and Setsuna cried out in pain, but it was only just the beginning as Inori then took each of Setsuna's paws and snapped them one by one, causing Setsuna to cry out in pain as each bone snapped into pieces.
Then Inori let Setsuna's limp body fall back onto the table below. Unable to move Setsuna could only watch as Inori prepared a needle then the smell of rubbing alcohol filled the air as Setsuna then felt the needle pierce her body and her eyes began to feel heavy and eventually fell asleep.
Meanwhile back in the real-world Setsuna continued to toss and turn in her sleep.
The next time Setsuna woke up she found herself in a large room with a runway and it was here Setsuna found that including her there were a total of six girls in the room. However, there was something strange that Setsuna noticed right away was that most of the girls' entire bodies were shrouded in shadow all except for one girl that Setsuna recognized as her friend Miki Aono. Looking as beautiful as ever. Dressed in her casual outfit of a stitched sky blue and navy top, denim shorts, and knee length black boots.
"Miki? Questioned Setsuna. There was going to be a fashion show of some kind although everything appeared to be normal thus far.
Setsuna then began to run towards Miki but as she ran, she began to notice something was very wrong with the situation, As she got closer to the girls they appeared to be getting bigger and bigger. Finally, when she stopped by the girl's feet they now towered over her like skyscrapers. Still, that did not stop her from trying to get Miki's attention.
"Miki I'm down here, please help me!" Setsuna shouted as loud as she could but to avail, she could not be heard. Just then a voice called out to the girls.
"Attention models the fashion show is about to begin. Please line up behind the curtain" the voice said.
The group of giant girls then started moving about causing the floor to rumble and knocking Setsuna off her feet. One girl's foot hovered over Setsuna and was coming down right at her! Luckily she managed to roll out of the way as the foot landed with a loud boom. Setsuna then got up and ran as fast she could away from the giant girls, however, no matter how far she ran the giants seemed to be mere inches from crushing her. In her fear she tripped and ended up falling face first onto the ground. As she tried to get up a shadow then eclipsed her. She looked up in horror as she saw the black boot of Miki coming down towards her.
"No Miki don't step on me!" Setsuna shouted but her words fell on deaf ears as the boot came down and crushed her completely the sounds of, her bones breaking as the foot pressed down as the blood came out of Setsuna's mouth as her world faded to black.
Back in her room Setsuna muttered "Someone help me" as her nightmare continued.
Now she found herself at the entrance to Clover Town Street with Love standing in front of her with her back to Setsuna who felt relived to see her friend.
"Thank goodness I've found you I've had some terrible nightmares tonight" Setsuna said.
However, Love did not respond at first causing Setsuna to speak again.
"Love is everything okay?" Questioned Setsuna.
"Setsuna" Love said.
"Yes?" replied Setsuna.
"You don't deserve to be forgiven!" shouted Love as turned and angrily pointed at Setsuna causing the dark-haired girl to take a step back in shock.
"Love what has gotten into you? "Setsuna questioned confusingly taken aback by the normally cheerful girl sounding as angry as she was. Just then another voice joined in.
"I knew we should've destroyed you when we had the chance" the second voice said as the person revealed themselves to be Miki.
"Miki what are you saying?" Setsuna said in confusion. Then a third voice called out.
"You have brought misfortune to our town" the third voice added revealing itself to be Inori.
"The misfortune is all your fault" the group said in a unified anger causing Setsuna to back up in fear at this group. However, she also noticed that every time they got closer, she noticed that they were bigger than her and only growing as they continued to get closer Setsuna continued to retreat until she hit something big she turned around and saw a giant red heeled shoe. She looked up and was horrified to see a giant version of herself as Eas with shoulder length, silver, red eyes appearing lifeless and a sleeveless black top with pointed tails and a red collar along with this she wore black shorts, long black stockings and red heeled shoes.
"No, it can't be" said Setsuna in fear at seeing her former self as a giantess.
"You were once a proud member Labyrinth now your just some pathetic human trying to earn forgiveness that you don't deserve" the giant Eas said. Then the giantess moved one of her feet to knock Setsuna off her feet and then pinned her to the ground with her foot.
As Setsuna struggled to free herself from this predicament. Another voice spoke a male one.
"It's a such a shame that I once considered you an ally Eas" the male voice spoke revealing it to be Soular.
"Soular? You' mean that you have been causing me these nightmares?" Setsuna asked.
"Yes quite an interesting plan don't you think. Your sorrow will fill up the Misfortune Gage to find Infinity all for the will of Lord Moebius." Soular said while Setsuna tried to struggle to get up but could not as her evil side Eas and her friends sneering down at her.
Then she cried out "Someone please help me!" she shouted in fear.
Meanwhile back in her room she cried out. "Please help me."
Meanwhile in Love's room Tarte was awoken by the sound of Setsuna's cries, then he raced up Love's body and tried to wake her up.
"Peach, I need ya to wake up I think something is wrong with Passion" Tarte said.
"Tarte it's the middle of the night can't this wait until morning?" Love replied.
"This can't wait Passion is in trouble we need to help her now!" Tarte yelled in anger.
"Setsuna's in trouble?" Love questioned. Quickly she got up from the bed and rushed out of her room and down the hall towards Setsuna's room where she opened the door and saw the dark haired girl thrashing about on her bed. Turning the light on Love rushed over to the bed.
"Setsuna! What is wrong?" Love questioned.
"Looks like she's having a bad dream" Tarte replied.
"Can't she wake up?" Love said in confusion.
"Normally yes but I have a feeling this the work of Labyrinth" Tarte said.
"There's got to be something we can do" Love replied as she watched Setsuna struggle on the bed. Just then however Setsuna's Linkrun began to glow and her Pickrun named Akarun appeared much to the surprise of both Tarte and Love.
Akarun?" Tarte questioned.
"What is it doing?" Love questioned as well.
Akraun then went over to Setsuna and seeing that she was in distress the Pickrun went back to the to Linkrun. Then the Pickrun glowed its usual red color and then vanished,
"Where did it go?" Tarte said.
Meanwhile, back in Setsuna's dream she was still struggling to get free of the giant Eas but still could not.
"This is your last chance to rejoin us Eas" Soular said.
"I'll never rejoin Labyrinth!" Setsuna shouted. Then a red ball of energy appeared and teleported her to safety. Putting the key into the Linkrun.
"Change, Pretty Cure Beat Up!" Setsuna shouted as her body glowed red and her dark hair changed colors to light pink, and it lengthened until it reached her waist. Then a white tiara appeared adorned by a garnet gem followed by a white choker and red heart shaped earrings on either side of head.
Her outfit consisted of a red dress black tights, and a pair black and maroon boots with red cuffs.
"The crimson heart is the proof of happiness. Freshly Ripened Cure Passion!" Passion shouted as she introduced herself.
Using her newfound strength Passion pushed the giant Eas off her allowing her to stand up when the giant villainess hit the ground it turned back to into the dreamcatcher Nakewmeke. Passion then jumped into the air towards the monster, hitting it with a kick knocking it back down. Then she summoned the Passion Harp.
"Sing, rhapsody of happiness. Passion Harp!" Cure Passion shouted as she played the strings of the harp. Then she shouted "Precure Happiness Hurricane!" She then began to spin her entire body as a storm of energy hearts and angel feathers surrounded the monster. Then Passion stopped spinning her body and pointed the harp upward followed by centering it and spinning it around as the monster became purified in a red heart bubble causing it to disappear along with the nightmarish versions of her friends and Eas leaving Soular alone as Passion turned to face him.
Soular then charged at Setsuna and tried to punch Passion who then blocked the punch by crossing her arms in an X position.
"You really think someone like you can change?" Questioned Soular.
"Yes, I believe I can change, it won't be easy but I'll try my best to be a better person!" Setsuna shouted as she shoved Soular backwards and then she sprinted forward and punched Soular in the face with her right hand and then another punch but with her left hand to the further stagger Soular. Then she landed a roundhouse kick to knock the villain down.
Soular tried to get up. However, he was then cornered by Setsuna who had aimed her Passion Harp at him she was considering using her Happiness Hurricane attack on. Instead of being afraid however, he just chuckled.
"You win this round Eas, however, soon this world along with all the others will belong to Lord Moebius" Soular said as he teleported away. Returning to her civilian form Setsuna could see a white door way open up, carefully she walked towards it feeling a warm caring energy coming from it she walked through it.
Back in Setsuna's room Love and Tarte waited anxiously when suddenly a red light appeared in the room as Akarun along with the Linkrun reappeared on the nightstand. Just then Setsuna's eyes fluttered open, and she sat up in bed.
"Setsuna!" exclaimed Love as she ran over to hug Setsuna as tightly as she could. "Thank goodness you woke up."
"Love it's okay I'm alright" reassured Setsuna.
"What happened to you?" Love asked.
A serious expression crossed Setsuna's face.
"Labyrinth tried to attack me in my dreams because I've been feeling like I don't deserve this second chance that I've been given" Setsuna said, then Love grabbed Setsuna's hand much to her surprise.
"Your wrong, you do deserve it." Love replied with serious look on her face.
"Love" Setsuna began she smiled and continued "Thank you for believing in me" The two shared a hug and then Love got up from the bed and walked towards Setsuna's bedroom door she stopped and then turned to face Setsuna.
"Good night, Setsuna" Love said
"Good night, Love replied.
Love and Tarte then left Setsuna's room turning off the light and closing the bedroom door. Setsuna then laid back down and fell back asleep with a smile on her face. With peaceful dreams to look forward to.
