I was leaning on the Balcony outside Evan's apartment.

I was admiring the view of Chicago from up here.

"No."

I turned around.

He was tossing and turning in bed.

I headed back inside.

"No!"

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey."

"No."

I stroked Evan's face.

"It's okay. I'm right here. I'm right here."

I stroked his chest.

Evan flipped us, so we were on our sides.

We were facing each other.

I had my hand on his face.

"Marry me."

"What?"

"I want you to marry me."

I stroked Evan's face.

"Evan, I think you're dreaming." I whispered.

He smiled.

We kissed.

I fell asleep, wrapped in Evan's arms.

Next morning

I sat up in bed.

Evan was gone.

I stood in the doorway of his workout room.

I watched Evan do pull-ups.

I watched him balance himself on the balancing beans.

I chuckled softly when Evan noticed me.

"Good morning." He greeted.

"Morning."

"Sleep okay?"

"I did." I answered.

"You?" I inquired.

"Like a log. Out all night."

"Hmm."

We kissed.

"You didn't have any weird dreams or anything? Or, like, wake up at all?" I questioned.

I was leaning on the balance beam.

Evan shook his head.

"No. I mean, none that I can think of." He answered.

"Hmm."

"I mean, there was a little thing of asking you to marry me. But, uh... Aside from that, no, nothing."

"Don't mess with me like that."

I pushed Evan's shoulder.

"No? How should I mess with you? Like this?" He questioned.

I laughed as Evan lifted me up onto the balance beam.

"Huh? That better?"

He was standing in between my legs.

We kissed.

"I meant it."

My eyebrows knitted in confusion.

"I want to marry you."

"Why?"

"Because I want to spend every second of the rest of my life with you."

I stared down at Evan.

"I dodn't expect you to say "Yes" right away."

I removed my arms from his shoulders.

"I know I'm complicated."

"Just a little bit."

I chuckled.
