Evan

Violet and me were spending Christmas with my family.

My cousin, Natalie, brother, Nathan, and parents were here.

Violet and me walked in.

"Ooh. The pretty girl Evan won't shut up about!"

Violet grunted as Nathan hugged her.

She hugged him back.

Nathan had ended up picking Violet up.

Natalie laughed.

I stuck our presents under the tree.

"What happened to your face?"

"That is so rude, Nate. There is a better way to ask that."

"It's fine. I get it all the time."

"Nathan."

"Sorry for my bluntness, Violet."

I laughed.

"Um... A building collapsed on me."

"A building collapsed on you?!"

"Yeah."

"Oh, you have to tell me this story. Please."

"Um... I was saving a victim. And the building fell. Along with it was all the debris."

"It took her partner and me to bring her back."

"Mm-hmm."

"Let's take the family picture. We were waiting for Evan and Violet to get here."

"Sorry we're late. It was definitely my fault."

"Most of Evan's exes blamed it on him. Never took accountability for their lateness."

"Mm. I'm not that kind of person. I take accountability for my mistakes and actions."

"I like you already."

"Likewise. Mrs. Hawkins."

"Call me "Gloriana."

"Okay."

"I want you in the picture."

"Um..."

"Please."

"Okay."

Dad was in front.

Mom was standing next to Dad.

Nathan was standing next to Mom.

I was standing next to Nathan.

Violet was squatting in front of me.

Natalie was squatting in front of Nathan.

Violet had set up her phone to take pictures by itself.

It snapped like 10 pictures.

She laughed, getting up.

"That's what happens when you're the shortest in this family. You gotta be on the floor during family pictures."

Violet laughed.

"Where's Bunny?"

"Turns out she's a lying, cheating , she's been disinvited to this house."

"Nathan has a tendency to date and marry cheating bitches."

"Ooh. And Candace was such a keeper?"

"As to why I didn't even bring her here."

"He brings a lot of cheaters, Violet. You'll get to see it in person."

Violet had showed us the pictures.

"Alright. I want the boys on the couch."

Dad, Nathan, and me sat on the couch.

"You two, up there."

Violet and Natalie were sitting on the back of the couch.

Mom was sitting on the arm of the couch.

Violet's phone snapped the pictures by itself again.

"The one who had a building fall on her is the person who is the highest up right now."

Violet grunted as she fell backwards off the couch.

"Violet!"

She groaned, sitting up.

I pulled Violet up off the floor.

She laughed.

"Sorry, guys."

"You're fine."

Nathan, Natalie, Violet, and me sat around the tree.

Mom and Dad sat on the couch.

All of us passed out the presents.

I had handed Mom and Dad's presents to them.

We all started opening presents.

I opened one of mine from Violet.

"Keychain."

She laughed.

"Turn it over."

I flipped it over.

It said "Yes!"

It lit up when I hit a button.

"Does this mean yes, yes?"

"Yes. Yes, yes, yes."

I picked Violet up.

We kissed.

We both laughed as I spun around with her.

We sat back down.

"I have one more gift. It isn't wrapped."

I stood up.

I offered Violet my hand.

She put her hand in mine.

I pulled Violet up off the floor.

I was walking to our pool house with her.

"Last time we came down here, I was over your shoulder."

Violet chuckled.

"Oh, yeah."

She gasped and shrieked as I slung her over my shoulder.

We both laughed.

Violet laughed as I walked down the stairs with her.

I put her down as we reached the pool house.

Violet sighed, pulling her long black hair out from underneath her shirt.

I unlocked the door.

"After you."

I walked in behind her.

I shut the door.

I walked down the stairs after Violet.

"Oh, my God!" She commented when she saw the waves on the wall.

I turned the lights on.

"You wanted hearts and flowers."

"Oh, my God!"

"It's okay."

I chuckled as Violet was carefully walking on the glass tile.

"It's okay."

"Evan."

She continued walking.

I dropped to one knee on the tile cover behind Violet.

"This is amazing."

She turned around.

Violet smiled when she saw the ring box.

"Be mine. Share my life with me."

She smiled.

Violet laughed.

"Yes."

"Marry me."

She nodded her head.

"I'll marry you."

"Give me your hand."

Violet giggled, handing me her left hand.

I slid the ring on her left ring finger.

We both chuckled as I got up off one knee.

We kissed.

The fireworks started.

"Did you do that?"

I chuckled.

We walked back to the house.

"Oh, my God." Nathan commented.

Both of us laughed.

"We're getting married." Violet said in a sing-songy voice.

I laughed.

"The Wedding is the most stressful thing about the whole planning process."

"Mom!"

"Sorry."

"Don't pay no mind to her."

We both laughed.

We went to Firehouse 51.

"Look who's getting married." Severide commented, clapping.

Brett squealed.

They hugged each other.

"Amazing. Amazing."

"I'm so happy for you two." Gallo told us.

"Thanks, Gallo."

We shook hands.

"You take care of her, Evan. Or you'll answer to all of us."

"I know. I will."

"Good."
