So excited to share with you, guys, my work for the heart attack zine. I have to thank tar_tine for letting me be part of it
Sorry if there´s any typo. It´s my first fic in English
Enid was excited when the school bell rang that morning, marking the end of the morning classes. It was her first Valentine's Day with her mate and she was ready to celebrate with her. She had been dreaming of this day since she was a pup. Of course, she had imagined it differently, with a werewolf mate and not with the goth girl she was dating now, but she was happy with the outcome, though.
She had been preparing a big surprise for her, with Thing's help. Enid had been collecting the seeds of her favourite flower, the black dahlia, just so she could start a little garden of her own on the balcony they both shared. She had them hidden with Eugene's help in the beekeeping clubhouse. It was nothing compared to the big garden Morticia had in the Addams' mansion but it was a little glimpse of their future together.
She didn't know if Wednesday would be excited about it but, honestly, she couldn't care less. She just wanted to show how much she adored her and that she was committed to their relationship
She waited. Everything was prepared in their room. She only had to wait for Wednesday to arrive from her classes and then she would give her the gift. Later, they would have a sweet date together, just cuddling on Wednesday's lap while she writes on her typewriter and pets her from time to time and maybe watching a movie together in the night
Sitting on her bed, swinging her legs anxiously and humming a soft song she had been obsessed with lately, she heard the doorknob creaking and her girlfriend entered the room. She was always stone-faced but Enid had learnt to understand her even without showing any emotion. Normally, Wednesday used to come back bored, she was smart and every subject was a piece of cake for her, but today she looked strangely happy as if she had seen a corpse or any of the creepy things that Enid still didn't find alluring but Wednesday found interesting.
She jumped out of bed and ran to greet her mate with a kiss. Wednesday didn't hesitate to kiss her back. She missed Enid when they were separated. She wasn't clingy but she was attracted to the werewolf's company, feeling better every time they were together. Of course, she wouldn't admit it even under severe torture but they fit together. She wouldn't have said yes when Enid asked her to be her girlfriend otherwise.
Thing joined them, ascending to Enid's arm. Wednesday watched them, a smile almost appearing on her face. She was delighted to see both of them so tight. Wednesday was sure that Enid would be a great Addams one day
"So, how was your day?" Enid asked her. They weren't together in most of their classes. Since the transformation, Enid was changed to a more proper schedule and adapted to her new abilities.
"Tedious. Even my brother Pugsley could ace this program. The dissections are child's play and I know more than the professor about werewolves' anatomy" That affirmation made Enid's heart leap on her chess. They both have been getting intimate lately, but still, that made her blush
"Maybe I can do something to improve it?" Wednesday raised one of her eyebrows, curious about what Enid was planning. She took Wednesday's hand and pulled her to make her follow Enid to the balcony Wednesday used to play the cello and where her Valentine's surprise was
Enid opened the window and set foot on the balcony, careful enough to not hit Thing that still was on her shoulder, thrilled to see the reaction of his protegé.
Wednesday saw her cello, with her atrium, surrounded by dozens of black dahlias planted. Some of them were still buds while others were in full bloom, with their majestic black petals creating a pleasant scenery
Enid stood in a corner, watching Wednesday moving toward them and analyzing them meticulously. Then, she faced Enid again, with her lips twisted in an almost smile
"Did you make all of this for me?" She asked getting closer to Enid and surrounding her neck with her arms. Enid could feel her scent around her, embracing her and making her feel like she was under a spell. The freckles on her face stood out of her pale flesh, making Enid's heart speed up
"Thing helped me to find them and Eugene was kind enough to let me use the clubhouse to hide them until today. I promise, in the future, we will have a greenhouse in our house, with all the toxic flowers you want. Happy Valentine's Day, Wednesday" She smiled, glad to hear that her mate was pleased
"Oh, mio lupo. This is terrific. But it's not happy, as you say until you have my gift" Enid was astonished to hear that. She never thought that Wednesday would care for a sweet day like this and not even in her wildest dreams she had expected something from her "Thing, would you be kind enough to bring me the little black box I have in my bag?"
She didn't have to ask him twice. He jumped off Enid's shoulder and trotted into the room the three of them shared. They heard the rustling while he was searching for what Wednesday had asked him and came fast as soon as he found it, holding the little black box as tightly as his five digits let him.
Wednesday bent down, thanked him and took the box, opening it in front of Enid and showing what was inside. There was a black ring, perfectly fitted for Enid, with an A and a circle, creating the Addams family emblem. Enid was speechless. It was stunning and perfectly crafted, and even though it didn't match her style, she felt it like a part of herself when Wednesday put the ring on her ring finger as if it was a puzzle piece she didn't know she had missed.
"Wednesday... This is..." She didn't even know how to thank her, but Wednesday understood her perfectly without words.
"As you said, take this as a promise. This is a family heirloom. Father used it to propose to Mother and plenty of Addams generations before them." She explained to Enid "I have to say, it's not the original. The real one is a necklace and it's still at the manor. I found it humiliating to make a wolf wear a collar as if you were any ordinary mutt, so I had it replicated into a ring"
Enid couldn't resist anymore and she kissed Wednesday fiercely. It was the best gift anyone could have given her and it wasn't just the ring.
"So, a promise, huh?" She asked when they broke the kiss, with their foreheads touching" For the rest of our lives... "
"... And when the sweet death takes our souls away. I'm your mate and I will never cease to be, not even death can do us part."
Enid chuckled. That was one of the things that she loved about Wednesday, she could be spooky and make her heart flutter in her chest at the same time. She kissed her again, softer this time, ready to face the rest of her life with Wednesday at her side.
