Green's pov
It's that time again, another round of trespassers have entered our home. Which means it's time to make our move once again. Orange resided in his territory and Purple in the vents while Blue and I proceeded to stalk the corridors for easy prey.
We eventually came across the humans over by the storage room, keeping out of sight from around the corner, Blue describing to me what was happening due to my blindness.
"That's so mean!" Uttered Blue quietly in disgust, watching the scene from around the corner. The sound of wicked laughter from three girls echoed in the halls of the play place.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"Seems that those other girls that came in have shoved the first one in the storage room." He answered, "They're even blocking the door! And I thought we were monsters."
I listened intently to the girls mocking the other one they trapped, a moral feeling of revulsion fell over me at their words.
"You are such an idiot," one of them called out, "You didn't really think we'd be friends with a loser like you did you three-eyes?"
Three-eyes.
I froze at the mention of that nickname echoing in my head. It couldn't be… could it? My mind suddenly flashed back to something in my life that made me really happy.
*Flashback*
Before my time with the rainbow friends, I was a high school student, tall for my age, and undergoing countless torment at the hands of bullies.
I had been stuffed into my locker again, I had sought to call out for help when I heard the sound of several girls from the cheer team outside harassing another girl. A loud bang of a person being shoved against the lockers was heard along with unforgiving ridicule.
"Look, one of the lenses in her stupid glasses fell out!"
"I've heard of "four-eyes" but never "three-eyes"."
"Three-eyes! Three-eyes!"
After their chanting and cackling died out my heart sank at the sound of the other girl's soft sobs.
I sympathize heavily with her, for was I not going through similar?
"Hello?" Human Green called out from inside the locker. "Is somebody out there?"
I took the opportunity to call for her help, which selflessly she did.
I could've sworn I was looking at an angel the moment our eyes met, one would even call it "love at first sight." Her name was Bianca.
She seemed a little shocked by my height at first but had quickly warmed up to me afterwards with a smile.
I felt nervous, wanting to make a good first impression. As I tried introducing myself only for the bell overhead to ring treacherously.
"Oh no, third period," Bianca said, "I really should get going, bye!"
I watched as she walked away, I wanted to call her back but decided to leave her be.
I was on cloud nine when I found we were in the same math class. I sat two desks behind her in math but I was satisfied just seeing her there.
The young man who would be known as Green sat at his spot in the classroom gazing dreamily at the platinum blonde girl from afar, when something impacted him from his right.
He turned to see one of the two young men that bully him had blew a spit wad at him again, trying to aim for his head only to hit him in the shoulder instead.
"Ha nice!" Chortled the other guy, high fiving the first.
Green glared but took every willpower he had to shrug it off.
After a moment the two troublemakers escalated and threw a paper plane at the tall boy's direction.
The wings read "open me" on them.
Green opened the plane to find a mean drawing of what was presumably him acting as a support for a vine of green beans. Underneath read "Bean pole". Green snarled angrily, squeezing his stress ball with a vice like grip, while the bullies sniggered.
Moments later the bell rings, alerting the students to leave for the next period.
The moment Green walked out, stress ball in hand, one of the bullies suddenly slaps it out of his hand shouting "Think fast!" The ball fell to the floor and right when Green was bending over to pick it up the bully snatched it, proceeding to harass the taller lad with it by playing keep-away.
"Hey give it back!" Complained Green trying to reach for the ball.
"You want it? Huh? You want it?" Taunted the bully. "Here it goes!" He threw the ball over over to his buddy caught it, taking part in the torment.
"Guys c'mon! Give it back!" Green did all he could to get the ball back to no avail. The other two boys laughed jovially at the cruel joke, tossing the ball back and forth to each other, making sure Green didn't catch it.
Everyone in the crowd gathered to watch the spectacle.
Just when one of the bullies caught the ball it was suddenly grabbed out of his hold by someone from behind. It was Bianca, looking to put an end to Green's torment.
"Real mature guys," she said disapprovingly with a glare, "How would you like it if someone did the same to you?" She came up to Green, placing the stress ball back in his hands.
"Oh, gettin' a girl to fight your battles for you bean pole?" The first bully said to Green.
"Why don't you guys shove off?" Retorted Bianca, "What right do you have to tease someone like that?"
"Pfft, whatever three-eyes it was just a joke." The bullies walked away after having their fun spoiled.
My heart fluttered in my chest, finally someone who was kind to me and doesn't judge me for my height. Someone who actually cared about me.
Since then we've become close friends. I couldn't have been happier.
We've studied together, ate lunch together, and whenever she had free time we'd hung out together however way we could.
We told each other about our personal lives.
I told her about the hardships I've been going through around the time, about the bullying, my unsupportive parents, my therapist that prescribed me a stress ball. All the while she tells me about her abusive mother, her dementia bound grandmother, and how she had to juggle between school, work, and caring for her grandma.
I felt so bad for her and everything she'd went through. I wanted nothing more than to protect her and support her efforts.
"That's so awful," said Green, after Bianca told him about her childhood. The two sat together at the park under the shade of a towering tree.
"I try not to bear any ill will against my mother," said Bianca, "I always hope that one day she'll change and maybe we can be a family when she gets out of jail."
"I doubt it," Green furrowed his brow in disbelief. "keep in mind some people never change. In fact I think your mom deserves to be locked up forever!"
"You never know. I mean she's still my mom. Besides, my grandma always told me to never wish for vengeance."
"Well why not? After all that your mom put you through as a kid?"
"I…I-I'm not sure… look I'm not gonna hold onto resentment and neither should you. I get that you've been through a lot yourself but you shouldn't lose yourself to rage." She places a hand on his shoulder, "promise me you won't lose control."
Green blushed at the touch, looking into her eyes. He gave a smile as he placed his own hand over hers.
"Promise."
Little did I know that I would soon go back on that promise.
It was the middle of the second term, I had bought a single rose from the local florist. I was ready, ready to confess my feelings to her.
I took out my stress ball, giving it a squeeze as I took a deep breath. Searching the halls for her I hadn't noticed someone snatching the flower from my hand.
"Huh? What?" He said startled. Turning to find the same boys that made fun of him.
"What's this Bean pole?" One said, fiddling with the rose. Making some of the petals fall off. "Gonna give it to three-eyes, your girlfriend?"
"Give it back! And her name is Bianca!"
Rather than give it back the boy threw it in one direction until it fell to the floor. Green made to grab it when the other bully came and stomped on it, crushing the flower.
Something broke in me that day, I rose to my feet as those two continued to mock me.
I saw red as I clenched my fist and socked one of them in the face. There was even some blood upon the impact.
The crowd watched as I let out all that pent up frustration on my tormentors, I wanted nothing more than to punish them for mocking not only me but Bianca as well. I lost all my senses in my blind rage that I didn't notice her watching until it was too late.
I will never forget that fearful look of distraught on her face after she saw what I had done.
"B-Bianca… I can explain!" Said Green, reaching out to her.
"'At's enough outta you young man." Said another voice, the school administrator arrived on the scene to break up the fight.
They dragged me away from the scene, my gaze fixated on her as she took several timid steps back. I knew I could never look her in the eye the same way again. I held my head in shame that day, feeling like a monster.
For her sake, I applied for a separate community college. That way I know she'll be safe.
From me.
The rest of my story, as they say, was history.
*End flashback*
"Bianca…" I whispered to myself in realization. Blue must've heard me.
"What?"
"N-nothing…"
After all this time, she's here?
And to top it off, she was still being harassed? I had to agree with Blue, we may be monsters ourselves but there are those out there that are far worse.
I had to think, sure as rainbow friends our job is to hunt down any and all who trespass on our territory. But to have to do harm to the girl I once loved… I didn't know what to say to Blue but I knew I had to buy her some time.
I'm sure he would understand later, and I couldn't forgive the girls that bullied her.
"Hey Blue," I announced, "I was thinking… I feel… kinda bad for the girl in the room. Um, why don't we pick off all those other girls first and save her for last? We should teach them a proper lesson."
"Hm," said Blue, thoughtfully. "Well you do have a point. And I feel kinda bad for her too. But what brought this on?"
"I… I know what it's like to be bullied by such awful people… you know my story right?"
"Huh, well fair enough. I'll take the area in the theater, make sure Orange and Purple are standing by."
We disbanded and took our positions around the facility. I was still worried for Bianca, I hoped that the others will keep their distance from her for the time being. From what I can recall that room didn't have a vent so Purple won't be able to reach her and Orange is fast but I doubt he'd be strong enough to break down the door.
I sighed in relief. Now to take care of business.
*different pov*
The three mean girls, Margret and her two friends, Stacy and Kelly, were at the main stage area, after leaving Bianca locked up in an open room, struggling to get the exit door opened.
"Argh come on!" Stacy said, pushing and pulling with all her might.
"Ugh, move aside!" Said Margret shrewdly, shoving her aside to try her luck.
"Are we trapped?" Asked ditzy Kelly.
"We are NOT trapped!" Said Margret, with a frustrated grunt. "The stupid doors are just stuck! Quit standing around and help me!" They went at it for several minutes to get the doors to open but to no avail. "Ugh, I am NOT missing my birthday! Come on, let's look for another exit. There's gotta be one somewhere."
"I don't know Margret," said Kelly, "This place is pretty creepy."
"Oh please! It's just an old kid's place. What you think it might be haunted or something?"
Little did she know she would soon regret those words.
They entered the theater area where sat what appeared a large mannequin or broken animatronic of the blue rainbow friend. Finding another path and a second hallway that appeared to have been blocked off. Margret, getting a hunch that the blocked path might lead to the way out, ordered her two friends to help her clear the path.
But while Margret and Kelly were having at the mess, Stacy, being the notorious instagrammer she was, saw opportunity for likes and stood by the hunched blue figure with her phone to take several selfies with it. Making different poses for each one.
"Stacy! Put your phone down and help!" Shouted Margret.
"Yeah, yeah," retorted Stacy, changing the position of the blue figure slightly to get a good angle. "just give me a minute."
She barely noticed the singular eye of the figure move.
The other two, meanwhile, were still busily clearing the path when the shrill shriek of their friend alerted them. They turned to see her grabbed by the blue creature who turned out to be alive.
The monstrous Blue let out a hearty but menacing laugh as he did what he did best with the terrified girl.
The other two, helpless to save their friend, ran away from the beast with a scream. They sped down the halls, searching for another exit or at least a place to hide from the monster.
"Margret!" Panted Kelly, "what was that!"
"I don't know!"
"Is Stacy gonna be alright?"
"You saw what happened didn't you? Just run!"
Eventually they came upon a row of what appeared to be a row of lockers.
"Ladies, where are you?" Sang Blue ominously from around the corner in pursuit of them. "Come on, don't you wanna be friends?"
Hastily, Margret and Kelly each chose a locker to hide in. They watched through the grating as the crowned, blue, monster appeared in their vision. Searching to and fro before leaving.
The two girls sighed in relief as soon as he was out of sight, his footsteps fading in the distance. They exited the cramped lockers and faced each other intently.
"Stacy…" wept Kelly. But Margret wasn't phased.
"Whatever, she was a brat anyway." She said coldly.
"B-but I thought-" Kelly was suddenly grabbed by Margret by the front of her blouse in a threatening manner.
"Listen here," Margret gave a threatening glare. "You will NOT breathe a word about ANY of this if we make it out! If you do you can kiss your spot on the cheer team goodbye!" Her grip on her scared friend's blouse slackened, "not ONLY that, but since my dad is the mayor and head of the city department, I can get him to have your dad REMOVED from his position as chief of police. GOT THAT?"
Kelly looked hesitant, "N-not even the part where we locked Bianca in another room?"
"ESPECIALLY that part! Besides she deserved it, it was punishment for talking with another girl's man."
"But… Brandon doesn't even know you exist."
"He does!" Margret looked offended, "he just… needs time to consider our relationship is all. I mean no other girl should so much as look at him let alone speak with him." She then grabbed Kelly by the wrist. "Now come on! Let's find another way out before that thing comes back."
They ran to the hall leading to the log rides, lights connected by wires hung on the wall, dimly illuminating the way forward.
"Gah, this place is like a maze." Complained Margret. "We'll be lucky if we don't lose our way around."
Kelly suddenly felt something wet splash against her foot.
"Eek!" She yelped in disgust. "These were my best shoes! Why's the floor all wet?"
"Probably from faulty plumbing or something. Quit being a baby and keep up Kelly."
All of a sudden Kelly's ankles were snatched before yanking her to the floor. She screamed, alerting Margret who spun sharply to see her get dragged into a nearby vent by an elongated pair of arms.
"Ahh! No! Please!" Kelly screamed, grabbing the frame of the vent and reaching a hand out to Margret who just stood there in shock, not knowing what to do before her friend vanished into the wall at the hands of whatever creature lurked in the ventilation.
Margret was on her own now, she had to get away before those beasts found her next. Her heart raced as she ran, her breathing getting heavier and heavier with every passage she sped through. She found herself in the area with the windmill, searching for another course of action at escape when the sound of squeaking footsteps reached her eardrums from one of the halls, a long shadow emitted from one of the passages.
Thinking fast, Margret dashed into the windmill to hide from whatever entity was approaching. She watched through the crack in the doorway as a tall, lanky, green character with squeaking feet, long arms, and sharp fangs entered.
"I know you're in here," it called out, "How I love a good game of hide n seek."
It felt it's way around the room in it's search, creeping as slowly and silently as it could.
*Green's pov*
I entered the farm area, taking slow and steady steps to lessen the squeaking sounds, listening carefully for my prey, my long arms feeling their way around in my aimless search.
Two of the girls have fallen victim already, which leaves one left.
*different pov*
Margret only realized how heavily she was panting when it turned it's head sharply in her direction. She covered her mouth hastily, trying to quiet down.
*Green's pov*
I could make out her heavy breathing, which she seemed to have tried to steady her breathing to silence herself.
Fool. Did she really think it would be that easy?
I might not hear her breathing, but her heart hammered like a piston. She was hiding in the windmill, so typical
*different pov*
The creature seemed to look intently in her direction, making Margret panic internally, praying that it didn't see her.
After a minute, it seemed to have lost interest and walked away.
Margret peered out of the barn, giving a momentary sigh of relief before stepping out. That was when she felt something touch her from behind, and before she could turn around a long, green, appendage suddenly grabs and coils around her.
*Green's pov*
I surprised the girl from behind after pretending to leave the area. She let out a scream right away as I raised her at eye level.
"No! Please! I'll give you anything just let me go!" She pleaded.
I recognized that voice almost at once as memories flooded.
"Margret." I said in disgust.
"How do you know my name?" She said, "who are you?"
"You don't remember me do you?"
"What? Should I?"
"That tall guy that you and the other kids used to harass constantly. I don't suppose you haven't forgotten the time you dumped a glass of water on my pants, making it look like I peed myself in front of everyone, laughing as you took pictures. Or that time you got me in trouble by tricking me into walking into the girl's room, they made me write lines for it because of you!"
"Wait…B-bean pole?"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" I roared angrily. "Do you have any idea how much I've suffered around the time? My existence had been nothing but a joke to you and all those others that took part in my torment!"
"L-look… I'm sorry okay? If I'd known how bad you've had it… I-I wouldn't have hurt you!"
I knew she was just saying all that to save her own skin.
"I… forgive you for what you did to me,"
"Oh, oh thank god-"
"BUT," I interrupted her mid sentence. "I'll never forgive you for what you did to her."
"Her? You mean?"
"Yes… Bianca, the one you call 'Three-eyes'. After all you've put her through in high school, you still torture her to this day?"
"I didn't mean to!… I-I was just jealous of her natural platinum blonde hair is all! I mean why should a nerd like her have such perfect hair like that anyways?"
"You think that's a viable excuse? Consider this payback from me and from her."
"No! I'm sorry! Don't do this! AAAHHHH!"
*Moments after*
I took care of Margret single handedly while my friends finished off the other two.
Now for Bianca.
Of course, I had no intention of doing her any harm, I just needed to get to her first before the others and make sure she's safe. I felt my way around, making my way back to the storage room by memory. Thankfully during my days as a rainbow friend I managed to memorize ever corridor, room, and crevice of the facility in order to get around in spite of my blindness.
However I accidentally came upon the newest segment of the play place that Red had us toil day and night constructing in hope of attracting more customers. Funny how the man still intends on making improvements when the place was practically a no man's land at this point.
It was a small play ground area fitted with a round about, a see-saw, monkey bars, and as a primary attraction, an upper level fashioned to look like an ivory tower with a twisting slide going down.
I wasn't used to this new area yet. My hand found the exterior of the tower, the details feeling so realistic, as I roamed around it to find the slide part of it.
I was about to take my leave afterwards when I felt someone bump into me from the slide. I didn't recognize her or the sound of her voice at first, I thought it was just another intruder we may have missed.
She begged for her life, like I expected her to. Just when I was about to consume her Blue walked in, stating that the stranger was a new Rainbow Friend. My heart sank when I found that Red had gotten to Bianca before any of us and made her suffer the same fate as the rest of us. I was filled with a mix of resentment for Red and shame for myself for nearly killing her.
Orange and Purple entered as I set the newest addition to our posse back on the ground, apologizing for my behavior. Though, I doubted that she'll forgive me after that.
She begged to be allowed to leave, which we at first were reluctant, but after much pleading we let her go. Honestly, I was scared for her, Part of me wanted to go after her but I knew it would be too big of a risk. All I could do was pray that she would be safe.
Moments passed since Bianca, or what we now know her as, White, had ran off.
I grew more anxious with each passing second. My mind was racing, imagining the potential possibilities of what may or may not be happening to her. I think the others felt the same as I overheard Blue speaking with Orange.
Another moment had passed, I was ready to take the risk if leaving the play place to search for her when much to mine and everyone else's surprise, White returned. I breathed a mental sigh of relief when she told us all what had occurred.
Apparently her grandmother had supposedly fallen from the stairs in her absence and had broken her neck, dying instantly. My heart broke for the weeping White as she pleaded to be allowed to stay.
Seeing as she had no where else to go at this point, welcomed her back with open arms, huddling in together for a group hug.
From then on, I knew things would never be the same.
