Every now and then, portals would open in Hell and into the human world, connecting both realms. That's how Dante had escaped once, and knew that Vergil and him wouldn't be forever trapped down there, even though it took six months for a portal to finally show up in front of them. None of the Sparda twins would admit it, but they were exhausted, both physically from fighting demons all the time, and mentally as they had spent all those months dealing with their emotional baggage towards each other, as they tried to pretend as best as they could that they didn't care.

"Finally! Fresh air!" Dante gave a good stretch as he walked through the portal. His twin silently followed behind.

Vergil was about to grab Yamato to create a portal and get as far as he could from his younger brother, however, as he realized where they were, the half-demon froze. The devil hunter soon realized something was up, and looked at the same direction as his brother, frowning at the view. They had been transported to Red Grave city.

Well, whatever was left of it.

"Look…" Dante started, having his words cut off by the cold steel of Yamato on his neck. He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that's on me. Should've seen that coming."

"I don't want to hear another sound coming out of your mouth." The older half-demon said between gritted teeth.

But of course he knew his brother would do the exact opposite of what he had said. So it basically explained why a certain white-haired man with red coat had been tossed against the ruins of the city, after defiantly whistling only to annoy his brother. Dante rose back to his feet after his back crashed against the rubble of what used to be a building.

"Y'know, I was actually gonna say some nice words to you, asshole." He protested, and Vergil slowly moved his eyes to look back at him.

"Save it for someone who cares."

During those six months, Vergil could've sworn that sometimes he could hear V in the back of his head. Could it be a case of split personality? Had he been gone insane? He had no idea, and that freaked him out. The only thing he knew, is that looking at the ruins of Red Grave City made him feel guilty as he heard his human side much more clearer than ever before, as he claimed this all had been his fault. All those innocent lives lost at the cost of a stupid sibling rivalry.

" Is this what you wanted?!" V screamed inside his head.

"No…"

Thanks to his enhanced hearing, Dante managed to listen to his brother, even though he was whispering to himself. The devil hunter tilted his head to the side and arched an eyebrow. "What was that?"

"Nothing." Before his brother could fin another way to bother him, Vergil quickly unsheathed Yamato and cut the air, opening a portal and walking through it. The devil hunter hurried and tried to catch up with him, but the portal closed as he finally reached it.

The half-demon placed his hands on his hips as he sighed. "I don't even know why I bother…" He said in his typical melodramatic way, keeping his act for no one in particular.

Dante decided to go back to his shop, worrying for its situation after six months of Trish and Lady much probably taking over the place as if were theirs. The document he had given Morrison would only hold their off for some time. Luckily, he still had Cavaliere with him, which would make the trip much easier.

The trip back to his shop took a couple of hours, however, differently from what he had expected, the lights of the shop were out. Even the big "Devil May Cry" neon sign, his pride and joy, had been turned off. Had his girl friends completely abandoned the shop? He slowly walked towards the front door, when he heard the two of them bickering. That brought a smile to his face.

"You were the one supposed to pay the energy bill!" Trish yelled.

"What? Me? I already paid it last month, this was your turn!" Lady answered, also yelling.

"Oh, no, no, I already pay for the gas and the water every month. You can't make me pay for every single thing in this place."

Dante leaned against the door, waiting for the right moment for his triumphant entrance. Meanwhile, he would get a good laugh at their fight.

"Have you seen the energy bill of this place?! The amount goes through the roof every fucking time!" The brunette tried to argue.

"Well, if you didn't forget to turn off the sign during the day…"

"How am I going to turn it off when the sign is what brings clients to us?"

"… You can't see the neon light while there's daylight outside, Lady!" Trish was about to lose her patience, he could feel it.

"You manipulate lightning, can't we use that as an energy source to the shop?" Now that was it. Dante couldn't hold back his laughter after that and they heard him. "Who's there?! We're closed!" Lady yelled.

The legendary devil hunter burst the doors open and paraded inside as he watched their jaws drop. "I knew you girls couldn't last long without me."

"Dante!" They happily exclaimed as they almost fell on top of his desk in an attempt to get closer to him. Realizing they looked way too happy, they coughed a few times and tried to look a little more cold.

"Oh, shoot, you survived." Trish exclaimed first.

"Yeah, we were hoping the shop would be ours forever at this point." The brunette pretended her nails were more interesting than the half-demon in front of her.

"Well, too bad. I hope neither of you has brought your stuff, otherwise you're gonna have to pack it out." He leaned his forearms on the desk as he stared at them. They looked furious at his remark, and that brought a smile to his lips.

"We take care of your shop for months and that's how you repay us?!" The blonde demoness put her hands on her hips.

"Bold of you to tell me you two took good care of the shop when I don't see any electricity around." Dante walked towards his beloved chair and desk, sitting down in his usual way with his feet up.

"Oh, yes, because you always pay your bills…" Lady answered sarcastically.

Before their bickering could continue, Trish looked around, missing something.

"Wait, where's Vergil? Is he still down in the demon world?"

"No… But right after we left he just opened a portal and vanished." He sighed in frustration. "I don't know how I'm gonna explain that to the kid."

"Well, Nero's on another state right now on a job… You have a few days to think about it." The demoness shrugged.

The devil hunter couldn't figure out whether this was a good or a bad thing. It's not like the lack of time to think about the words were his issue, the real problem was how he never found the right words to anything.

Meanwhile, just as Trish had mentioned, Nico drove the RV in her usual, completely crazy way as Nero tried to sleep on the passenger's seat. He had driven for almost six hours and him and the gunsmith had agreed to take turns in case of long travels. The young devil hunter only woke up when he smelled the lit cigarette in her hand.

"I thought we had agreed that you wouldn't smoke inside anymore!" He talked with only one eye open, watching Nico's smile turn into a grimace.

"Oh, c'mon—"

"The smell takes hours to come off!"

"We're taking longer than we should 'cause you insist on stopping everytime I wanna smoke!" She suddenly turned the wheel to take a curve, causing Nero's shoulder to hit the window.

"Maybe you should smoke less regularly…" Nero mumbled under his breath, causing the brunette to turn her head to look at him.

"Maybe you should take care of yo own business!"

"Eyes on the road!" He screamed back at her. The boy was sure that, of all the ways he could go, it definitely would be in a car crash thanks to his partner.

"Relax your tits." Nico suddenly hit the brakes, making the abrupt stop cause Nero's body to be sent forward, and his nose hit the panel in front of him. "We're here."

The white-haired boy brought his hand to his nose before taking a look around to figure out where they were. It was one of those suburban neighborhoods where each house would be far away from each other, and the one they were in front of seemed to be out of a fairytale. The yellow building was surrounded by so many trees it almost looked like a forest, and the roof was covered in flowers of all colors. He could swear he saw a deer hiding in a bush as soon as it realized their presence.

"… This doesn't seem like a place with supernatural problems."

Nero frowned, now sure that this could only be some kind of prank. He stepped out of the vehicle, determined to give a piece of his mind to whomever wasted his time and gas like that. He impatiently knocked on the door, and soon heard noises from inside the house, signaling that someone was approaching the door. All of his bravado disappeared, however, as soon as the door was opened.

A teenage girl stood in front of him, analyzing his figure from head to toe. She wore a pair of white boots, pants and shirt, along with a pale pink long coat. She wasn't as pale as him, her skin seemed a little more tanned, but what really made his jaw drop were her pair of icy blue eyes and the long, straight and thick white hair with a few pink strands cascading down her shoulders. On the other hand, the girl didn't seem amused by his looks, her rounded eyes almost looked… disappointed.

From the RV, Nico's jaw also had dropped, allowing the cigarette in her mouth to fall. She quickly stomped the car floor, trying as quickly as she could to put it out. As soon as it was safe to assume she wouldn't cause a car explosion, she looked back at them and yelled:

"HOLY FUCK, NERO! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YO SORRY ASS HAD A SISTER!?"

The girl's icy blue eyes slowly went from Nero to the gunsmith and traveled back to him. She was expressionless, and that made the boy even more nervous as he tried to think of any words to say. He decided to be obvious.

"Is she right?" He nervously asked as he scratched the back of his head. "Are you my sister?" To be honest, he was kind of happy with the possibility.

"I'm not a psychic, I don't know who your parents are." The coldness in her response almost gave him certainty that she was indeed his sister. I mean, she talked just like the man. It also freaked him out a little.

"Uhm… I have no idea who my mother is, but…" He scratched the back of his head again, but the impatient stare she gave him caused him to be quicker. "My father's name is Vergil."

"I'm not your sister." Oh. That was disappointing. And embarrassing. The girl probably thought he was crazy or something. "I'm your cousin." Now that was a big revelation. So big Nero just stood in front of her with his jaw wide open.

Nico, on the other hand, slammed the car roof two times as she celebrated: "I KNEW DANTE WASN'T A VIRGIN!" Probably, the entire neighborhood had heard that.

And the devil hunter stared back at his newfound cousin even more embarrassed than before, feeling the weight of her judgmental glare. Not a good start.
