"Cool concept, excited to see where it goes!" -PhatomFuryJP

Thank you!

"Dang, I always adore Apollo, and I really like the dynamic he and his sister have. I also like that you have Apollo approve Percy's feelings towards Artemis, usually in stories like this he is ticked when he finds out about Percy and Artemis liking each other. Anyway, another fantastic chapter, you my friend are an amazing writer!"

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you enjoy their dynamic. I think Apollo might make one more appearance, I'm not sure. I have it planned, but might cut it out if it doesn't fit. Yeah, I decided that he would be cool with it because Percy did swear to protect her. If he breaks that oath, he fades to nothing. (Cool little lore detail that I don't think will be mentioned in the story, so I'll put it here!) Anyways, I hope you continue to enjoy!

"Another great chapter as usual! Of course I'll keep reading, you certainly have a way to intrigue your readers, I'm impressed! Keep it up, and don't let anything stop you from doing your best!"

"Thank you! I'm glad you find this intriguing. I have a great (in my opinion) tale to tell, and I'm glad you're deciding to stick around! (That goes for everyone who continues to read my stories). I'm going to try to continue to do my best, though it may get hard sometimes.

"Zeus is such a horrible person, I hope someone humbles him" -Walter

Yeah, I wanted to truly show how fucked up he is. Sadly, just like the myths, nothing is going to happen to him. Honestly, I don't think he is even going to actually show up again.

"hmmm, interesting…" -KryptonWrites

Thank you.

"Let's see whats here," -KryptonWrites

Hope you enjoy!

"...ohk? Did not get it." -KryptonWrites

Don't get what?

"Ok, this was good. Really good. I like what you have done to the story, like your old comments, the only good 'Guardian of the hunt' story was Everlasting Promises, well there are other good Pertemis stories Like 'Cradle Of Olympus' or 'The Legend Of The Son Of Poseidon. But the twisted way your story is, I like it. This will definitely be a good story, don't abandon it man." -KryptonWrites

Thanks man! I'm not going to abandon it, don't worry!

"Sooo good" -Levitico

Thank you!

Chapter Four

Perseus had a strong desire to go north. A really strong desire. Almost like a need.

He set off in that direction.

The woods were silent as he walked. There were no bugs, no rustling of leaves. The silence was broken by the leaves crunching under his feet.

The farther he walked into the woods, the darker it got. Perseus wasn't afraid of the dark, but it definitely made it harder to see. As he kept on, the sounds of battle started to break the silence. He broke into a sprint.

He came upon a clearing, lit by torches. In the clearing was a large beast. It had the body of a lion with the face of a human. One of its eyes was blue, and the other was brown. The tail of a scorpion was added to the creature's butt.

Fighting the beast was a girl, who was small in comparison to the beast. To be fair, anyone would seem small, so it didn't seem like the most accurate description. She had auburn hair tied in a braid. Her skin was pale. She wore a traditional hunter's garment. She wielded a bow, and was firing arrows at the beast as she jumped from branch to branch.

The creature would jump towards the branch that the girl was perching on, only for her to leap away before the creature reached its prey.

Perseus knew the beast. The Manticore.

He also knew the girl. His charge. Artemis.

Perseus leapt into action, doing his job. He may not have had any weapons, but that wouldn't stop him from doing his job. The Manticore was focused solely on Artemis, which means that he had the element of surprise. He would have to use it well though, because if Artemis didn't take the opportunity he provided, it would be a lot harder to get her another one.

Perseus waited until Artemis leapt to another branch and then jumped onto the back of the Manticore. The Manticore paused for a moment. This was Artemis's chance. Take advantage of the monster's confusion, and finish the fight.

But no, Artemis was also confused. She kept an arrow knocked as she observed the beast.

Perseus cursed under his breath as he turned around on the Manticore's back. His main worry was the scorpion tail. The venom of the monster was potent enough to kill him within minutes, and those few minutes would be the most excruciating of his very, very, very short life.

The tail stabbed down at him as the beast leapt at Artemis again. Perseus grabbed the stinger by the bulb on the end and held it at his arm's length. The stinger was a couple of centimeters from his face. It was sharp and glinted evilly in the torch light. Venom dripped from the stinger.

Perseus felt his strength running out. He needed to get stronger if he was going to protect his Goddess. He let the stinger come towards him, but instead of letting it impale him, he redirected the stinger into the Manticore's lion body.

Upon instinct, the Manticore injected poison into his prey. Then the beast froze. It realized it was injecting it into itself.

Perseus jumped off of the creature's back. The Manticore's poison started to take hold on the beast as it started to convulse. Artemis finally took the shot and sent an arrow straight into the Manticore's head.

The Manticore dissolved into golden dust, leaving its stinger behind as a trophy.

Artemis jumped down from her branch and landed before Perseus. She drew an arrow and aimed at Perseus. "Who are you and what do you want, boy?"

Perseus held his hands up. "I'm your Guardian, miss. From the Fates. The name is Perseus."

Artemis cursed under her breath. "They gave me a male for a Guardian. Of course, they would."

"I believe almost all of the guardians are the opposite gender of their charge." Perseus defended.

"I don't need a Guardian. I have my Hunt. There are some demigods that could help me against any gigantes."

"That may be true, but I am a weapon created for that very purpose."

Artemis rolled her eyes. "I don't suppose I can convince you to just go away?"

Perseus shook his head.

"And I'm guessing I can't kill you?"

"Unless you want to incur Fate's wrath, I'm going to advise against it."

Artemis sighed and took the arrow out of the bow. She put the arrow in her quiver and stepped closer to her Guardian. She looked over him. "You didn't do too bad against the Manticore." She commented. "You obviously have the spirit. To rush him without a weapon..." She trailed off. "However, I won't be having a Guardian that can't be quiet in the woods, scaring away all of the animals. And I can't have you being bad at archery."

She placed a hand on his forehead. She muttered something too quiet for Percy to hear. A second later, he glowed silver. He looked down at himself. His clothes had changed. A silver shirt and a pair of black leather pants. He was barefoot.

"I'll get you a knife and bow at camp."

Perseus nodded.

"I'm guessing I don't have to tell you to follow me?"

"You do not, no."

Artemis turned on her heel and started to walk towards her Hunt. Percy followed behind her.

LINE BREAK

Artemis's camp wasn't too far away. The walk there was quiet though. With both of them having the gift of silent, quick feet, there were no sounds of crunching leaves, or snapping branches.

They walked into the Hunter's camp. It was vacant as they studied the perimeter. But once they delved deeper into it, signs of life started to appear.

The Hunters were gathered around a fire. To call it a fire was giving it more credit than it deserved. It was a couple of dying embers that bathed the girls in an eerie glow.

Artemis cleared her throat. The Hunters turned towards her. They had semi-smiles on their faces, before they turned into confused looks once they laid eyes on Perseus.

"My Lady, why is there a boy here?" One of the Hunters asked.

"Perseus, why don't you go watch the perimeter, make sure nothing dangerous is too close to the camp." Artemis said to him.

"If there is, do you want me to fight it? Because I don't have weapons."

"What? Can't fight it with just your fists?" One girl said. She had a silver circlet on her forehead.

"No, I can't. Considering the fact that I was only created mere hours ago, it's a miracle I didn't die in that fight with the Manticore." Perseus told the girl.

"Just pray to me and I'll deal with it. I'll get you your weapons soon, like I said I would. Just let me clear up everything with the girls first."

Perseus nodded. He walked off, doing his job.

"So, what, we're conversing with pigs now?" Another Hunter said.

"Girls, sit down." Artemis commanded. They did as they were told, because they served their Goddess, and whatever she said went, whether they liked it or not. Artemis sat on a log with them. "A new threat has emerged. And our foes can only be defeated through a God and Demigod working together. So, my father asked the Fates to make us some demigods made specifically to deal with these threats. One for each Olympian. Perseus is mine."

Shouts of protest rose up from the Hunters, only to be silenced when Artemis raised a hand. "You have a problem; you can take it up with the Fates. But for my sake, please, don't make me lose another Hunter."

The Hunter's quieted as they remembered Niome's death, only the day before.

"Perseus is here to help." Artemis finished.

"You taught us to hate men and now you expect us to work with one?" One of the Hunters asked.

Artemis narrowed her eyes. "I did what?" Her voice was as tight as a bowstring.

The Hunter seemed to realize that she messed up. "I-I- I mean—"

Artemis stood up. "What I taught you, was how to be strong. To be independent. To not need a man for something you can do on your own. I taught you how to be trusting of other people. What I did not teach you was how to be the very men you 'hate'. Who taught you to be a misandrist? Because I sure as hell didn't. So, unless you want to be put under the consequences of beings above even my Father, then I strongly suggest you drop the current attitude you have, because all it will end in is your death. And as much as I'll be sad, I won't do anything to stop it. Not that I can."

At the end of her rant, some of the Hunters were silent. Others were nodding along.

"I expect you to treat him with respect."

At that moment, Perseus came back from the perimeter check to see the subdued mood in the Hunters.

"Whoa, what happened?" He asked.

"Nothing that matters to you for now. I trust that the area is clear?"

"It is."

"Good. Go with Zoë. She will give you a bow and knife."

Perseus nodded. The girl with the silver circlet stood up. "Follow me." she said.

Perseus followed as Zoë walked to the armory tent. When they arrived, she looked him over. She turned to the weapon rack and picked out a bow. "Try this." She said, handing the bow to him. Perseus didn't miss how she tried to minimize the contact between them.

He tried out the bow, stretching the bowstring mimicking the action of launching an arrow. He nodded with satisfaction. Zoë turned around and picked out a knife. She handed it over to him, along with a sheath with a strap.

Percy sheathed the blade and strapped the sheath to his thigh. Easy to retrieve in close combat.

"I'm going to assume you'll need a quiver." Zoë muttered to herself. She picked out a bigger quiver and gave it to him. "You're all set."

Percy nodded and turned to walk away. He met back up with Artemis.

"All geared up?" She asked him.

He nodded. "Yeah. Feel like I can take on the world."

Artemis cracked a small grin. "Good, you're going to have to take on half of it."

A/N. Alright. Another chapter in the past. We saw the meeting of Perseus and Artemis, as well as the Hunters. I hope y'all like the way I went with their interactions. I personally see Artemis as someone who, while doesn't particularly like what's happening, she accepts it and decides to live with it and try not to cause problems. The Hunt on the other hand, as said in the chapter, have misinterpreted what Artemis had taught them, and even what the Goddess represents. So I felt like it was time she set them straight.

Don't worry. There isn't really going to be any problems between Percy and the Hunt from here on out. There will be one argument, but it's not going to be too serious, and the Hunters position on it will be sort of understandable, though both sides of it want the exact same thing.

Another present time chapter next time.

Also, real quick, I just wanted to get real for a moment. I just want to thank all of you who stick with me through my stories. I know I'm not the most consistent with updates, and that I sometimes go back on my promises (like when I promised to focus on solely RotDA and OtSoD. But you guys still support me in whatever endeavors I take on. So thank you. Seeing people enjoy what I produce really reminds me that maybe I'm not totally useless in this world. And I have you guys to thank for that. Alright, Hallmark movie moment's over. Thank you.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to one of my best friends, Zaeng_, for looking over this entire story for me.

Thoughts?
