Julie's POV
"Heeeyy Julie." Luke poked his head in her room before phasing through her door.
"Luke I'm trying to do homework, don't come in here being distracting."
"Calm down, I'm just saying hey." He stretched out on his back beside her, crossing his hands under his head. He smirked. "Besides, I can't help it if you get distracted by me."
She ignored him, or tried to, seeing that he kept playing with her hair and getting it in her face. When he sighed for the hundredth time she slammed her math book shut and glared at him.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" She asked sweetly.
"Do you not like spending time with me?" He pulled a sad face and she rolled her eyes, switching out her math homework for a science project that was due tomorrow.
"Why don't you go write music or play or something? I'm sure you've got tons of lyrics spinning around in your head."
"Nah I'm kind of in a writers block." He propped himself up on an elbow, not all that far away from Julie. "Besides, I'm nothing without you Molina."
He laughed when she realized what he was doing and pushed him back onto the comforter. "Don't mock Nick!"
"I would never mock cute little Nick."
"You're doing it right now."
"No I'm being so serious," he said. She shook her head at him, staring down at her paper. Luke jumped off the bed, causing her to mess up and have to erase a word. "Besides, you really do make me a better writer."
She ignored him and the flattery until she noticed he was looking at her dream box.
"Luke, no!"
"You know what would make me an even better writer-"
"NO!"
"Sampling lyrics."
Julie jumped out of bed, smacking his reaching hand away from her box. "Stop it! I'm serious Luke! Boundaries!"
"I'm not doing anything!" He raised his eyebrows and grinned, holding his hands up in surrender.
"You're being really annoying!"
He feigned hurt as she huffed and stomped back to her bed, sitting criss-cross with her back facing him.
He sat beside her without missing a beat, leaning on his hand.
"I didn't mean to push boundaries."
"Well you did."
"I'm sorry Jules." He pretended to pout.
"Ugh, it's fine, just please sit there quietly and let me finish this project so we can go rehearse."
He nodded, sitting silent for a solid minute before making a popping noise and saying, "hey Julie."
"No."
"Seriously."
She held a finger to his lips in a shushing motion and he grabbed her hand, snapping his teeth as if to bite her. She couldn't help but laugh a little at the odd gesture. When she got her hand back Julie proceeded to ignore him.
"Are you this mean to Nick?"
"Why do you keep bringing up Nick?"
"You like him."
"No I don't."
"Julie and Nick, sitting in a tree-"
"You're acting like a child."
"Just admit that you like him."
"I don't."
"I get it. He has those bright blue eyes and silky golden hair that you want to run your fingers through." He clapped his hands together and said dreamily.
She raised an eyebrow, "are you sure you don't have a crush on him?"
"No, that wouldn't be fair to you because I can see how much you like him."
"Shut up!" She laughed.
"I really think we should talk about these feelings that you're obviously hiding."
"Shut up."
"If you want to kiss him just do it."
"Luke!"
"What? It's just a kiss-"
Before she even knew what she was doing, in one swift motion Julie leaned forward and pressed her lips to his. It was just a peck, and she was pulling away just as fast, but her heart started hammering a hundred miles a minute when she realized what she'd just done.
Luke just gawked at her, his face slowly getting more and more red as he seemed to process what just happened. Eventually, in a voice a few octaves higher than usual, he said, "you just kissed me."
Julie shrugged, trying to act nonchalant and like she wasn't freaking out, "you wouldn't shut up. And it was on my mind."
"What, kissing me?"
"No! Kissing Nick."
"I'm not Nick."
"I know that!"
"But you kissed me."
"No-I was thinking about kissing because you wouldn't shut up about it so I kissed you to shut you up!"
"I will talk forever if you do it again."
His comment surprised her and the blush she had been holding back bloomed across her face when she looked at him. Slowly, they smiled at each other.
"If I do it again will you let me finish my work?"
He nodded vigorously and she smiled so giddily that her face almost hurt. He leaned in with her this time and tilted his head, kissing her back. It was gentle, almost shy, Julie bringing her hand up to the side of his face. His hair tickled her finger tips and she felt him smile, and then she was smiling too. She didn't know that something so simple as a kiss could make her feel so much.
After a moment they pulled apart, and Luke slowly opened his eyes, a dazed look on his face. He grinned lazily, "so Im guessing you don't like Nick."
"You're an idiot."
"An idiot that you like."
She smiled rolling her eyes, "yeah, I do."
"I like you too," Luke said quietly, and a sheepish smile that she was unaccustomed to him having crossed his face.
They sat there and grinned like idiots until Julie came back to her senses. She cleared her throat and picked up a pencil.
"Okay, now you have to leave me alone so I can finish this. I'll be down to the garage in a bit."
He shook himself out of staring at her and said, "yeah, uh, okay. I'll um. Bye."
Soon after he poofed out Julie was back to working on her project, having to force down a smile every now and then. Eventually she sighed in frustration that she had only gotten halfway done. It was hopeless. She couldn't focus on her homework longer than two minutes before her mind was back on track to Luke's stupid face. Only he could annoy her and give her butterflies at the same time.
Eventually she jumped out of bed, thinking screw it, and going to rehearse with her band.
This was a One Shot request that I got inspired to write and did so freakishly fast during my lunch.
Anyways, tell me what you think!
