Something was up and Ianto did not know what it was, just that Tippy had not told Senior what it was so Ianto knew sooner or later the boy would approach him about it. Senior had already asked if he had nor not yet.
Ianto was worried, Monica seemed … poorly lately. Little, quieter and pale. Ianto had also noticed her leaving the doctor's office a few times over the last week and was now concerned for real. The newlyweds did not need anything negative in their lives, they were still in the honeymoon stage even after two years of marriage and the entire village wanted it to stay that way.
"What if he doesn't approach?" Martha asked her cousin who was clearly chewing over things and he looked up from the letters he was flicking through while standing behind his desk to smile back at her as she stood in the doorway. He motioned her in and she did so, closing the door as she entered and he threw the handful of envelopes back onto his desk before sitting heavily with a huff.
Martha sat as well, watching as Ianto swung in his chair now before he admitted "I am worried it's something he doesn't want to say. I am all doom and Gloom."
"Yeah… me too. She looks like death warmed up, we've al noticed and… Tippy is so jumpy" Martha agreed "Even Mickey is worried and you know how he lets things slide."
"Like a snake"
She smiled as her husband was the most chilled mother fucker there, for him to admit to being rattled was a big deal.
As if summoned, Tippy appeared in the doorway "Ah… Boss? Got a sec?"
"Sure Junior, come on in" Ianto said as he motioned her off and she closed the door to let Tippy have some quiet. The young man settled in a chair and Ianto noted how leaner he was these days, like a fat puppy grown to a big dog, he had come into himself.
"Ah… it's… ah…Monica …. I think… we're not sure and we took the test three times…."
"You've been to see the doc?" Ianto guessed straight away and tried to remain calm, even as he wanted to leap out of his skin with glee.
"The thing is… he's known us all our lives and… we was wondering if your friend had an opening. I know he has a tight client base but…"
"I will ask Owen. Yes, he closed the books to any new clients as the locals went into a feeding frenzy and he had agreed with the old doc not to decimate his patient base until the old fart retires in a couple of years or falls off his perch before then… shit that sounded… sorry." Ianto agreed "But I am sure we can sort something out."
"Cheers Boss."
.
.
"Well I am at capacity patent wise but I will take a look at her on the quiet I guess" Owen said without any enthusiasm.
"I would not ask normally but she is still so leery of her mother after the entire… you now… burning of the church thing… and even though you and I both know Lisa was behind all that, her mother is still frowned upon. I think Monica just wants reassurance and going to the old doc who gave her lollipops is not gonna cut it." Ianto replied.
"Give me the week, I will shuffle and check out the numbers since we have that family move away to the smoke… I might have leeway to let them in. Old Fucker will come to moan at me when I order their records mind." Owen sighed, knowing Ianto was not going to let this go. Not one of his men.
With a nod of satisfaction Ianto left the surgery sure he had things under control.
.
.
Jack reacted exactly how Ianto knew he would.
Their child was being swung around with such vigor it was a wonder she did not projectile vomit down on him, mind, he did deserve it with his enthusiastic shrieking far too loud this time of day.
"So Owen will do a headcount on his patients to see if he can fit them into his schedule, Monica being leery of the old doc." Ianto sat and ignored the madness.
"Don't blame her, he's ancient. Eww, imagine an old letch like that looking at your twat!" Jack laughed, turning to face Ianto "Shit… was that a curse word?"
"I don't know, but that one sure was!" Ianto laughed.
"Wow… I remember when you were just a little skinned rabbit" Jack crooned now as he folded onto the sofa with heir daughter in his arms, the adoration on his face so sweet as he told her of his first time seeing her and how his heart melted into goo. "Perffaith my sweet little rabbitty bum… awwwww"
Faith pouted her lips for a kiss and Jack complied happily, so enamoured with their child.
Ianto wondered what Jack was going to do in six months or so when they started her at preschool, somewhere he had wanted for her already but Jack had resisted. He would rather keep her at his side like a bloody attachment until she is of school age bit being an only child, she needed others. Ianto knew this, had argued it and made Jack see that in order for their daughter to gain friends, understanding of others and their feelings plus also to have fun, she needed stimulation. An only child, it could be a lonely childhood and possibly a spoilt one.
Finally he had reluctantly agreed… when she is three!
