Five months later in the Christmas season, Mario sits in a diner called Burger Time owned by Peter Pepper having a conversation with Mario having a burger. "Mario, it's been five months." he said, "How are you holding up?" he asked. "I'm trying to hang in there." Mario answered. "Well, good news is." said Peter "The guy who shot that fire rocket is now in prison." But Mario still feels guilty about the incident "I still feel that it's my fault." he said "If I hadn't invited her to the circus, I wouldn't have lost Pauline." Then Peter Pepper said to "You can't keep blaming yourself for what happened. At least the gorilla is dead, right?" Mario then answered. "I sure hope so." Mario then finishes his burger and takes out his wallet. "I gotta go." he said to Peter. "You can keep the change." Then Peter said "Thank you, Mario. Have a good one."
Mario turns around and walks out the door and leaves the burger place, gets in his car and starts driving off and then ends up getting stuck in traffic. Mario glances at the picture of his girlfriend Pauline. "Baby, please come back." he said.
As he is finally home in his apartment, Mario sits on his couch and turns on the TV and starts watching some good on TV. "Finally!" he exclaimed. "Something that'll help me relax." Then, he starts hearing a knock on his door. Mario then rolls his eyes and gets off the couch and says "What is it, now?" Mario walks over to the door and answers it and notices another man looking like him wearing sunshades and green shirt and leather jacket and tight jeans. He smiles all exicted and shout "Brother!" Mario quickly tries to shut the door on him but the brother holds the door. "Come on, Mario!" said the brother, "Don't do this to your own brother!" Mario finally gives up and lets him in. "What are you doing here, Luigi?" he asked his brother Luigi. "Mama kicked me out." Luigi answered, "I'm a living with you now." Mario then disagrees and says "No, no, no. You're not staying here." then Luigi argued "Mama said to live with you!" "I don't care what Mama said!" Mario replied holding the door open. "Out!" The Luigi begged Mario "Please brother! You have to let me stay. If you don't let me live here, I'll have nowhere to go." Mario argued with Luigi, " Luigi! I had a heck of a day today! I do not have time for this right now!" Luigi finally snaps begged "Mario, you're my only brother! Mama will be heartbroken to death if you kick me out! You already broke her heart when you moved here!" Then, Mario looks down and realizes he has to do the right thing and then he just closes the door. Mario gave up and said to Luigi "Fine. You can stay." "Thank you." said Luigi. "But here is the deal! You have to promise to help me look for a job!" Luigi gets confused and asks Mario "What about your old job?" Mario then answered Luigi "I just quit my job after what happened." Luigi then realized. "Oh"
Then, they heard another knock on the door. Mario sighs and rolls his eyes as he is annoyed and says "Now what?" Mario answers it to the apartment manager who demands "Rent!" Mario gets startled when he saw the apartment manager "Oh, Mr. Ditkovich!" said Mario, "Hi!" Mr. Ditkovich then questioned "Hi? What's hi? Can I spend it?" Mario then answered "Listen I was gonna pay you..." Mr. Ditkovich angrily says to Mario "You're overdue on your rent... AGAIN!" Luigi cuts in the conversation to defend Mario "Sir, he's been through a rough time." said Luigi. Mr. Ditkovich faces Luigi "And who are you?" he asked Luigi. Mario answers for Luigi "This is my brother Luigi." Mr. Ditkovich gets confused "What is this?" he asked "A family reunion?" he joked. Mario ignored the question and said "Look, I promise! As soon as I..." Mr. Ditkovich cuts him off and says "If promises were crackers, my daughter would be fat." Mario snaps at Ditkovich to explains while walking towards him "Look, sir. You don't understand. I've already had a heck of a day today because I had already quit my job months ago and I have all the money I earned to open up my own company. You have to give me another chance!" Mr. Ditkovich sighs as he is about to make a decision. "Fine." he said as he accepted "But remember. I have ears like a cat! And eyes like a rodent."
As Mr. Ditkovich walks out the door, Mario stands in front of the window and stares outside. "Don't worry, Mario." said Luigi "At least I'm here for you." Mario grabs the picture of Pauline and stares at the picture and starts shedding tears. Luigi then gets concerned of Mario. "Are you okay?" he asked Mario. Mario looks at Luigi and walks over to him and hugs him. "Thank god you're here, brother." he said shedding tears. "You really miss her, don't you?" said Luigi. "She was all I had." Mario said "She would definitely know what to do." Luigi figures out a perfect idea. "Maybe we should just move out. Live somewhere else. You can open your company there." Luigi suggested. Mario raises his eyebrow. "Where will we do that?" Mario asked. "Leave it to me!" said Luigi.
