The Mario Bros. finally arrive to the castle with Toadsworth and they both look at the huge castle. "This castle is huge!" said Luigi. One castle guard approaches Toadsworth and the Mario Bros. "Greetings!" said the guard. "Hi. We're here to see the princess." said Mario "These gentlemen are in need of help." said Toadsworth "This way." said the guard leading the way. They walk inside the castle and look all around the castle. "This is amazing, Luigi." said Mario. One yellow toad approaches."Toadsworth, he's not doing good." said the yellow Toad. Toadsworth gets emotionally shocked and Mario and Luigi look at each other. "Keep the princess company. Don't say anything to her until he says he's ready to see her." Toadsworth commanded.
They arrive to the upper floor of the castle and they arrive to the king's bedroom. Toadsworth knocks on the door. "Your highness?" said Toadsworth slowly opening the door and walking in the room where the dying King Toadstool is lying down and Toadsworth begins to shed tears watching him suffer. "Oh, no." Toadsworth whispered. "I'm afraid it's time." said the king. "What do I say to the princess?" Toadsworth asked. "Peach... must... stay brave... strong... and she will... become the queen... like her mother." said the dying king. Toadsworth then clears his throats and begins to tell the king. "Your highness? There are two people here I want you to meet before you go." he said beckoning at the Mario Bros. They walk in the room and the king sees them for the first time. "Your majesty" Mario greeted "My name is Mario and this is my brother Luigi. We were wondering if you could help us with some trouble before you go." King Toadstool then replied "I'm afraid... I can't... Only... my daughter... can help you." The king then looks at the Mario Brothers as he somehow recognizes them. "You must be... the ones we've been looking for." said the dying king. Mario and Luigi both get confused. "I'm sorry. What?" Mario asked while him and Luigi get confused. "Your highness?" Yellow Toad interrupted "She's ready."
Mario and Luigi step back. Then, the beautiful blonde haired princess walks in noticing the king is getting very ill. Princess Peach started shedding tears as she walks over to him and sits down by him and takes his hand. "You're eyes..." the dying king whispered "They look exactly like your mother's." King Toadstool wipes a tear off her face. "It's okay... I'll always be watching you." he said to his daughter. "I'll make you proud." she said while sobbing. "Just remember." said King Toadstool "When I'm watching you and your kingdom, I will make sure nothing happens to you." he pointed to Mario and Luigi "Those two." Peach turns her head and sees Mario and Luigi for the first time. The king closes his eyes as he's getting more weaker while Peach is holding his hand and then she releases his hand and it drops and she realizes that he has died. Peach starts shedding tears.
Then, Mario and Luigi rush right outside the castle after what the said earlier. "There's something not right." he said. "What's not right?" Luigi asked "Did you not hear him? He said that we're the guys they're looking for. What does that even mean?" said Mario "Why are you asking me?" Luigi asked "Think about it, Luigi! He knew about us somehow! This is why I felt that we've been here before! Something's clicking into my brain and all this looks like something I've been dreaming about!" Toadsworth comes outside for the Mario brothers. "Gentlemen? The princess would like to see you." said Toadsworth as Mario and Luigi enter the castle.
As the enter the castle, the Mario Brothers enter the throne of the princess and they stand and face the princess. "Princess Peach?" Mario said as he is about to introduce himself. "I'm Mario and this is my brother Luigi. We'd like to share our condolences for your loss." Peach began to thank Mario for his condolences. "Thank you." she said "Before you came in to see your father, we were talking to him and he mentioned that we were the guys that you're looking for. What did he mean by that?" Mario questioned. "Our kingdom is in danger." said Peach. "You two are the chosen ones to stop King Bowser from trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom." Luigi reacted as he heard what the princess said "Now, wait a minute. Us? Chosen?" Luigi questioned. "This has to be a mistake. We can't be the guys you're looking for. We just want to go home." said Mario "You gentlemen don't understand. You're not what you think you are." said Peach. "What do you mean?" Peach gets off her throne and steps down the stairs. "Come." she said to Mario and Luigi "I must show you boys something."
The Mario Bros. follow them into a hall of pictures of the previous kings and the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom. "Years ago we had a stork delivering numbers of newborns. But two of them were captured and they were both brought to the Mushroom Kingdom after being rescued by a group of friends. They thought my father would raise them as his own. But he couldn't. He had to send them to another world before something could find them." Mario and Luigi realize she's trying to tell them something "And those two newborn children were you two. The Mario Bros." Mario and Luigi's jaw drop as they learned the truth about themselves and then Luigi fainted and collapsed on the floor and passed out.
