Hello and welcome back to this story!

I've wanted to rewrite this for a while as I've gotten a lot better at writing and spelling! (mostly)

And with the second movie soon to come out, I thought now would be the perfect time!

So what I'm doing for this is basically rewriting it word for word, so in short, same story, only better written :D

You can go back and read the first if you'd like, I'll leave it up, but I warn you, I was very new to writing when I wrote it, so it's a little cringe worthy lol.

Alright, I hope you all enjoy this!

~Ezra~

The wind whistled past as I ran, the bright warm sunlight shining through the massive trees and plants that made up the forest around me.

Leaping over roots and fallen branches, I pick up speed as the ground begins to decline slightly.

I let out a whoop of excitement as adrenaline poured through me.

I felt free, for the first time in memory, it felt like home.

As the trees and foliage thinned, I can see the edge of the trees, and the edge of the cliff, so I move faster toward it, before leaping as far as I could off the cliff, then I drop for a few seconds straight before hitting the cool water.

Opening my eyes, I smile seeing the beautiful coral and seaweed like plants and flora, and the many different kinds of creatures, fish and beasts that could have never even been imagined back on earth.

--

I groan softly as I come to, feeling groggy and weak as I try to get my bearings., my head pounding and eyes struggling to adjust for a moment.

Looking around I try to assess my situation, after six years in hibernation, it all felt a little surreal.

And that dream...they had told me you wouldn't dream in cryo, but it seems they were wrong.

I couldn't believe it had been six years since I was last fully awake.

As the pod pulls out I can see others leaving their pods, and some doctors going around to each one to make sure everyone was awake and alive.

One doctor stops over me, checking me over before moving on, I climb out of the pod and push myself toward my locker.

The closer to the planet we got, the more excited and nervous I got, I mean, of course I'm nervous, I'm moving to an entirely new world, a new job, a new planet.

I grab my things and climb into the shuttle that would drop us all off down below.

I hold my bag in my lap as the loud shuttle flies lower into orbit, and I could feel the force of gravity again, which felt weird now.

As we go in to land I quickly pull on my mask, talking myself through putting it on, just as Norm had taught me before we left, and once its on I relax a little, ignoring the man yelling orders.

The men all stand in a line as we get ready for the door to open but I stay seated for now, not wanting to be shoved around.

As the huge door opens I look outside, I can see a military base, and a small bit of forest and a mountain beyond it, but not much else.

Once the soldiers are out I stand and walk down the ramp, and as I look around my breath catches, eyes widening as I see the massive mountains surrounding the whole base, and the forest.

I didn't even realize I stopped until my elbow gets bumped, I turn to see one of the soldiers in a wheel chair who had accidentally bumped me.

I smile a little sheepishly "sorry" I say quickly before heading on inside the base as fast as I could, trying to ignore the stares I was getting from some of the soldiers outside.

Once inside I head for the briefing room, knowing it would be excruciatingly boring, but it was mandatory in a place like this, a place basically ran by the military.

I sit in the back and listen silently, trying to keep my focus on the older soldier, he was spouting military talk as I expected, warning us all to be very cautious, and to not fuck anything up.

Once the briefing ends I wait until most of the others are out before heading toward the door.

I smile when I see Norm standing in the doorway looking out into the hallways.

I silently sneak up behind him and poke him in his side, causing him to yelp and jump a good few inches in the air, spinning around to glare down at me.

I smile innocently up at him "Hey. I didn't see you on the flight down, was worried you'd stayed a Norm-sicle"I joke.

He rolls his eyes but smiles goodheartedly "I made it better than you did. One of the Doctors told me your cryo system failed half way through the trip and they had to get you on the life support system for a few days. Are you ok after that?" He asks.

I nod and smile gently as we begin to walk down the hallway "I'm ok now, but it sucked in the moment. And there were no planets to see as we passed, and the docs wouldn't let me wake you up. I was bored out of my mind for about a week straight as they fixed me and the pod up" I grumble.

He snorts in amusement "you miss me that much?" He teases, bumping shoulders with me.

I scoff "no way, you'd just be fun to torture in zero gravity is all" I retort jokingly, smacking his arm.

"Ouch! No bruising! I can't be bruised on the first day" he whines, I giggle softly and shake my head, feeling more relaxed now that I wasn't alone.

As we walk Norm notices something and nods ahead "come on, I see Tom's brother" he says quickly and I jog to catch up with him, though as he introduces himself I stay back a little, feeling unsure of this guy, I didn't much like military men, so when Norm gestures to me, I just smile kindly and wave at him.

They continue on, Norm talking with him as we get to the lab, I sigh a little and step inside after them, glancing around.

It looked a lot like the labs I had worked in on earth, though it seemed a little colder, less comfortable here.

I stop when I see the avatars in their glass chambers, my heart jumps a bit and I walk toward them quickly, stopping beside my own as I watch in fascination, the avatars seemed like their own person, yet they also still looked so much like me, it was surreal feeling.

My avatar twitches and moves around a little, as if restless inside that tank.

I jump a little as Norm gets my attention to introduce me to Max.

I smile and shake his hand, introducing myself before he leaves us to get more work done, Norm stands beside me next to the tank, smiling "excited? Max says they should be ready to go tomorrow" he explains.

I nod, feeling almost entranced by the avatar "very excited..." I say and smile up to him.

Once we had dropped our bags off and settled in a little to our rooms we meet back up to go meet Grace Augustine, the writer of the best books on Pandora, and the one who started a school to teach the Na'vi people English, and she had hoped to learn from them as well.

I stay in the background quietly as she spoke to the others, being introduced by Max, before she sees me and nods toward me "and what about you?" She asks.

I smile sheepishly "I'm Rose Parker. My mother worked on the avatar program, helped design the avatars, I helped her as a sort of assistant when I was younger, so I know a little more about the Avatar's than other assistants. And as a result of that, I was allowed to join the mission and have an Avatar created for me" I explain as concisely as I could without sounding like I'm rambling, though it was still rambling.

She nods, looking a little impressed and curious but puts it off for now, speaking with the others as I glance around the room quietly seeing the slightly familiar pods I knew we'd be using tomorrow.

When I look back to them I see Grace is obviously agitated, she groans and looks to max "is this a joke? He's sending me ex-soldiers? At this point their just pissing on us without even the courtesy of calling it rain. I'm going to Selfridge, this is such bullshit!" She growls as she heads off, max trying to stop her.

I snort a little "I mean she's not wrong" I murmur softly before heading back to my bunk, tired from the day and wanting some real rest.

I run, pushing myself to go even faster, my long braid flicking back and forth and my heart racing with happiness and a peace I've never felt before.

--

Leaping over a fallen log, I can see the cliffs up ahead, the foliage stopping suddenly near the edge, but I continue to run past it all before leaping out over the cliffs edge, and taking a deep breath I then hit the water, diving down deep.

I right myself and cant help the beaming smile on my face as I look around, the brightly colored life down here, beautiful otherworldly creatures and plants.

And yet, even with the new surroundings, even as I knew I had only just arrived to this world, it felt like home, as if my soul, my very being knew this place as home.

Then suddenly I sense something so I look up only to see a shadow hurtling down toward the water then...

--

I sit up, grasping at my blanket and gasping for air, my heart drumming in my ears, I shiver a little as I was in a cold sweat, so I climb out of bed and go into the locker room closest to my room and take a hot shower.

'That same dream...' I think as I scrub at my hair, I have had that dream for as long as I could remember, over and over again, sometimes randomly, sometimes it is triggered by something that happens that day, but over the years, the dream became more and more clear, more and more detail being added over time.

I finish in the shower and get dressed before heading down to get some breakfast.

I'm practically vibrating with excitement, though I try to hide it, as I sit and eat quickly, my leg bouncing slightly under the table to help release some the energy.

'Todays the day! I get to soon see the forest for myself! And I can't wait to try out my avatar, I wonder if it will feel like the simulations' I wonder silently, soon finishing my food.

I head off to the lab as calmly as I can manage, Norm and Jake are already there and waiting for me, we exchange good mornings before heading toward the docking room, Grace would meet us half way there.

Norm nudges my arm "excited?" He murmurs, I nod and smile up at him.

"You know I am" I retort, making him smirk.

"I think the whole base knows, you're basically floating" he teases, I snort and gently smack his arm.

Jake looks to us "are you two siblings? You act like it"

I chuckle a little "nah, but I worked along side him for a while. We trained in the simulations together sometimes as well" I explain.

He nods and we soon meet up with Grace, who then leads us into the docking room.

She points us to our pods and I open mine, smiling and squishing the green gel like material inside before I hop in.

Grace comes over after she set up Jake "this will be interesting. Don't do anything stupid, alright? I've got enough to worry about with the marine" she says, I smile gently and nod.

"I'll try my best, though I can't promise anything" I retort, she smirks slightly and rolls her eyes before I lay down and she shuts me in, the top of the pod closing in around me, I take a few calming breaths and close my eyes.

I flinch and groan a little as a bright light is suddenly shining down into my eyes, I want to reach up and brush it away but stop quickly as I feel a very small hand on my arm, I lean my head up just a little and blink to clear the fog from my eyes.

I find two scientists standing over me, checking my hearing and eye movement.

'Oh, right!'

I reach up slowly and rub my eyes a little, then I look down at my large blue five fingered hands, turning them over I see the darker blue lines going down to my wrists, I stretch my hands out a little, wiggling my fingers gently before I sit up, though I get a bit of a head rush so I press my hand to my forehead for a second until it passes.

I can hear the scientists trying to talk to me, but I look away, not wanting to focus on their studies for the moment, so I swing my long legs over the edge of the bed carefully, looking down at them curiously, I could feel my tail whipping around a little and tapping my back a few times.

I wiggle my toes for a moment before dropping my feet to the floor, my heart racing as I slowly stand up, realizing now just how tall I am, I smile wider as I ignore the scientists still, as they tried to get me to sit back down.

I jump a little as I turn to the others, Jake was standing as well, and he had knocked over a tray and table with his tail, all of the scientists try to get his attention and make him sit back down but he ignores them as well and walks around them toward the doors out.

I smile wider as Norm yells after him to go back and sit back down, but Jake, of course, doesn't listen and I laugh a bit as he stumbles out the door, Norm curses a little as I rush past him and the other scientists and doctors, saying he'd bring us both back.

As I follow Jake out into the bright sunlight, my heart swells as I breath in deeply, it just smelled right, wild and warm and like the freshest dirt, like a rain storm after a hot day, like a summer day up in the mountains.

I can't help but laugh as Norm shouts after us that we weren't supposed to be running but we don't listen, Jake in front of me still, and as he races forward he nearly runs into a mech walking down the road.

The poor mech driver was a bit confused as I race by as well, waving before looking to Jake again, he slides to a stop and I stop just after him, laughing again with exhilaration and joy.

"Jake! This is amazing! And the air! It smells wonderful" I hum happily as he smiles widely back at me, I run my fingers along the leaves and stems of the plants around us before I hear someone yelling toward us.

"Hey Marine! Rose!" We both look over curiously.

"Grace?" Jake asks as an Avatar with a striking resemblance to her, walks toward us.

"Well who'd you expect numb nuts? Think fast!" She sasses, tossing a fruit to Jake, then a second to me, which I promptly drop, but I grab it quickly and take a bite of the amazing fruit.

It had a warm sweet and slightly sour tang, Jake bites into his as well and laughs in amazement.

I finish my own happily as Norm joins us, then Grace takes us to get some real clothes on, something other than the large hospital gowns we woke up in.

When shown the clothes that had been made for the avatars, I pick out a pair of dark green cargo pants, a white tank top and big black military boots.

I then take a bit of time out in the yard, the others going to do something else while I mess around a little on the obstacles course, though I was definitely going to need to start training, as I was never very athletic, so I was pretty clumsy through the whole thing, though I was definitely having fun.

After a while I return inside so that the doctors and scientists could perform a few more tests to make sure I'm healthy and everything's working as it should, then I join the others and we follow Grace to a bungalow outside, connected to the yard.

The building is large, huge open walls and doors, with large bug nets covering all of the openings, to help protect the avatars from the bugs and creatures outside.

Sitting down on a bed beside Jake and Norms, I look out the net covered window into the forest, enjoying the sounds of the entire nocturnal world outside, all of the insects and creatures, I could imagine myself out there, running through the beautiful wilderness.

I jump slightly as my tail whips up and wraps around my shoulders, I reach up and gently brush it back down, my hand catching the edge of my brain, so I gently grab it curiously, letting the soft looking little tendrils out into the open air, but I knew it was a very sensitive organ, so I drop my braid back down my back and move to lay down as Grace shoos the doctor's out of the bungalow.

She closes the large doors and turns off the lights, calling "bedtime" before she heads to her own bed.

I quietly close my eyes and let myself drift.
