One dark night, the Benatar was floating in deep space surrounded by millions of stars. "System check." Quill, the pilot of the spacecraft said to the systems Ai. "All systems are ready to operate." The Ai said in a robotic tone. "Set course to Nowhere." Quill said before he got out of the pilot chair and walked around.
"Drax, check status on the purchase of Nowhere from The Collector. Quill said walking around. "Oh you can see me?" Drax said standing really still thinking he was invisible. "Yes Drax, we keep telling you that doesn't work. Even if it did, I could still sense your presence." Mantis said, walking over placing a hand on his shoulder for comfort.
Drax walked over to one of the ship's computers, and checked the update on Nowhere. "The owner status shows us as the new owners Drax said, still upset with the 'standing very still doesn't make him invisible situation'. "Great." Quill said happy that The Collector turned over and would sell the old Celestial Head to them.
"Scanners picked up a distress signal." Rocket said coming out of the seating quarters, holding a small tablet showing the coordinates of the signal. Rocket pulled up the coordinates on screen. "That's in the middle of nowhere." Quill said "that's like the Bermuda Triangle of space!" He added. "What's the Bermuda Triangle?" Mantis asked Quill curiously. It's like a really deadly place on Earth where all ships go in the middle of the sea, and never return." Quill summarized. Mantis sensed his emotions of not wanting to go there.
"It doesn't matter, if there really is someone there that needs help we have an obligation to show up hence the name Guardians of the Galaxy." Mantis said, feeling the tension in her antennae. "Not all ships that have gone there have gone missing." Drax added on pulling up reports of sightings on the screen.
"Except their ships are destroyed." Quill said "it looks like a space monster took a bite out of it." Rocket said. "What if one of the ship's signals went off in an accident? Do you know how many signals get mixed up around those parts?" Quill continued his argument.
"Well you can come with us or not remember who fixes this ship when you get it hit with asteroids!" Rocket said annoyed. "Fine, let's go see if anyone actually needs our help." Quill said storming off into his room, closing the door behind him. Rocket hopped in the pilot chair with his tablet switching course.
Mantis snuck into Peter's room, sensing he was upset. "Quill, are you okay?" Mantis said, sitting on Peter's bed next to him. "It's just that we almost lost each other fighting Thanos, that I don't want to lose you guys for good this time." Quill said remembering what it was like to lose Gamora.
"Have you heard from Thor? Maybe he can talk to you about how it felt to lose Loki, and Jane in a short amount of time." Mantis said trying to sympathize with Quill, feeling it made him feel better. "I haven't heard from him since he was taking care of Gorrs kid." Quill said realizing he hasn't been a part of the group in a couple of months. Mantis leaned on Quills shoulder for support.
