Meanwhile, the ship was on its way to the distress signal. When it arrived, the ship shut down. "systems offline." Benatar Ai said before the whole ship went dark. "Guys what's going on?" Quill said hurrying with Mantis out of his room. "The high energy levels from the area knocked out the power in our ship, it's going to take some time to jump start it again." Rocket said, trying to figure out a way to fix the ship.
"I don't think we should move in any closer until we can find a solution to keep the ship from shutting down." Rocket continued feeling it was unsafe. then he started walking towards the engine, and opening the port leading to it. "Yeah the engine was fried." Rocket said, looking around for anything he can replace.
"Ruined the core." Rocket said seeing that the centre of the engine was smoking. "So how long until it's fixed?" Quill said hoping they wouldn't be stuck for long. "At least an hour, depending on the tools we have and how much I can salvage and fix." Rocket worried, not knowing if it would be fixed in time. "Well can't we check out if the distress signal is real while we wait?" Drax asked, munching on cheesy space cubes. "It's too dangerous, without the ship being online we could get lost." Quill explained, not wanting to lose anyone in the dark void of space.
"Well Quill has his space suit, but Drax and Mantis can use the suits in the back." Rocket suggested. "Alright but we have to be on comms 24/7." Quill stated seriously. Drax, Quill and Mantis all suited up. "Let's do this!" Quill said, trying to clear his mind of all the things that could go wrong. The team left the ship and started floating through all the debris from the ships that made it back from their disappearance.
"What do you guys think happened to make these ships disappear?" Star-lord said, looking at all the flashing lights in the broken ships. "Maybe they got sucked into a black hole." Drax suggested, floating in an upward circle. "Maybe one of those space monsters Thanos used are what's causing all this.." Mantis said, starting to talk about The Battle of New York. "Not likely, Thanos wouldn't want to use them like this." Quill said seeing the bites looked a lot bigger than the monsters from New York. "It might not even be a space monster." Drax said, hoping they wouldn't find it and have to deal with it mid-space.
"If it is, where would it hide?" Drax asked, seeing the vastness of space all around them. All of a sudden, they heard a roaring loud enough to cut through the whole quiet part of space. Then, their comms cut out. "Guys what's going-" Quill said, before he got cut off. "I don't know but whatever it is, it's big!" Mantis told the team before the comms shut down, sensing the monster. In the distance, the team could see something flying in and out of their vision. "What in the earthlings is that?" Quill said to himself, not seeing it anymore.
It appeared again, flying towards them this time. "The Guardians of The Galaxy!" A deep voice said. "It is your time to disappear." "Never to be seen again!" The voice added. Then the monster came closer with his mouth wide open, trying to eat Star-Lord. But he turned on the thrusters on his boots, and flew above the monster, missing his bite attempt. He shot the monster multiple times shooting his back with his element gun. The monster roared in pain, but it didn't stop him. The monster tried to biteDrax, but Star-Lord kicked his mouth. Pushing him away, giving Drax time to move.
The monster flew back around and went after the benatar, Star-lord flew over and tried to stop it. The monster shook Star-lord off, making him fly into space. The monster opened an interstellar portal, sending Benatar, Mantis, and Drax in. Star-lord saw the portal, and thrusted towards it, getting through just as it closed. The monster flew around a dark, damp cave glowing with all sorts of debris. "Where are we?" Star-lord asked curiously, the ship and team landed on a Lily pad in a small patch of water. "I think we're in a cave on a different planet." Mantis said, trying to sense the area around them. Star-lord turned off his helmet.
"I can breathe!" Peter said. "Yes, the air here is different." Drax said, taking off his space suit helmet, Mantis doing the same. "What the hell happened?" Rocket said climbing out of the Benatar's crash site. "The monster sent us through a portal then went that way." Peter said, pointing towards a tunnel leading down. "Then we're going after it!" Rocket said, putting his gun in front of him. "No! We don't even know what that is or who was with him." Peter said already worried about how they were going to get home.
