"So this is the mighty Super Saiyan who defeated my brother. I guess they do only exist in legends after all." Cooler stood in front of the monkey who had apparently killed his younger brother, Freeza, a year ago. He had heard through intergalactic channels that the Saiyan was immensely powerful, that he achieved a power greater than anything in the known universe. But all he had seen today was a pathetic warrior who had thoughts above his station.

"Ridiculous! Freeza deserved to die if he was defeated by a weakling like you! You and your planet would be better off as space dust!" He floated into the sky, watching as the Saiyan twitched inside the rock face he had smashed him into. He always liked to see the face of his opponent as all hope left their body. "There is no one who can stand against me, I am the ultimate ruler of the universe!" He suddenly clenched his right hand, and the landmass down below exploded into great big chunks of rock and grass. He moved his left hand, and the same happened to the cliff that the monkey was embedded in. His body fell to the ground with an ugly thud. He was surely defeated.

"Krillin… Gohan… Piccolo…"

Son Goku lay on the ground, his inner thoughts turning not to his own grievous injuries, but to his friends and family. They were in danger once again, and this time he couldn't call forth the power to defend them. It frustrated him. Why could he not call forth on the power he had used on Namek? Why couldn't he stand up and defeat this new evil that had come to destroy his planet? He was angry. So angry.

A bird fell from the sky and landed next to him. It had been struck by one of the large rocks from the cliff, and was dying. It writhed on the ground in pain, crying out because the pain was unbearable. Goku scooped it up into his hands, his rage causing him to shake the very ground he sat on. "No! It didn't do anything wrong!" he thought to himself. "I'm sorry, everyone… This is all because of me…" he said out loud. "I… I… I can't!" he yelled. And he stood up.

Cooler looked down once again at the lowly Saiyan, but was surprised to learn that he was standing up. "Hahaha!" he laughed. "Trying one last time to stand up to me? Pathetic!" But it was as if the Saiyan couldn't hear him, he was instead gazing at the ground, his hair spiking up every few seconds. Suddenly, a scream was felt all across the land. A scream of righteous anger, a need to protect, a call to action. Rocks and trees around the area were lifted into the ground, occasionally bursting due to the raw energy. Cooler was blinded as the monkey was engulfed by a bright yellow glow.

When Cooler was finally able to look upon the Saiyan again, he noticed a small bird fly by his head. "What's this?" he questioned as he took a look at the ground again. Instead of the black haired warrior, a golden being stood, a piercing gaze of anger seemingly gazing into Cooler's own soul. "Saiyan insect, prepare to be squashed!" He raised his hand to unleash a Supernova that would engulf the tiny fighter, when he suddenly felt something grasp his wrist. He looked in surprise to find that Goku had somehow gotten behind him and grabbed him. The look on his face was horrifying.

"That's enough. How dare you hurt this planet and its people, they've done nothing to you!" Cooler wrenched his hand away, and sank his other fist into the Saiyan's stomach, only to find it didn't budge an inch. He stared into the emerald eyes of his enemy with fear. "How many more planets will your family destroy before you're satisfied?" Cooler backed away in fear, his mind racing with one singular thought: I need to get off this rock!

"What are you talking about? I kill when I want! The weak die and the strong survive, that's how this universe works!" He saw Goku's face contort into a grimace once again, a low growl emanating from his throat. "You scumbag! No more forgiveness. Let's go!" Goku's aura burst into life and he rushed Cooler, who couldn't even see the Saiyan approaching even when he was staring right at him. He landed a solid left hook right into his face, cracking Cooler's face mask a bit, then kneed him in the stomach, HARD.

Cooler bent over, gasping for air. He tasted a copper taste on his tongue, a flavor he had not had since he trained with his father years ago. His gasps soon turned to laughter, as he turned his head up towards the golden haired warrior floating in front of him. "I see! This is why my brother was no match for you! I love it! However…" He blasted Goku point blank with an energy blast, scattering smoke and dust everywhere. It did no damage to the Saiyan, but it did provide a momentary distraction.

With the Saiyan covered by the dust cloud, Cooler quickly charged up an extra large Supernova. His augmented form allowed him to gather his energy quickly, much faster than his brother, or even his father. It grew to a hundred times his size. As the dust cloud scattered, Goku looked up and was horrified.

"Sleeping on the job, Super Saiyan? I told you I was different from my brother, didn't I? Now die with this planet! HAAAAAAA!" He threw the ball towards the Saiyan, watching delightfully as it hit Goku, him struggling to keep it from sucking him in. "Hahaha! You fool! I'd like to say you'd done well, but I am the strongest in the universe! This is the fate you deserve for disgracing my family!"

"I can't let this destroy the Earth! We've gone through too much!" Goku's feet sank into the earth, as did his entire body, as the blast started to impact the ground. He let out a mighty roar, and the ball slowly began to stop. Then, it started moving with him. He flared up his ki as he pushed with all his might, breaking free from the ground. "HAAAAAAA!" he screamed, as he launched a powerful Kamehameha into the center of the sphere.

"What?! No!" Cooler's attack struck him head on, he barely had the time to put his hands in front of him to protect himself. He formed a barrier with his energy, but it was nearly useless compared to all that he had put into the Supernova. He felt himself be lifted from the Earth's atmosphere and into the cold vacuum of space, speeding up gradually as Goku put more power into his attack.

"I will not be defeated by the likes of you!" Cooler screamed into the void. His cries were heard by no one, as he continued to struggle with the energy ball. "I'll overcome this, and then I'll rip that monkey into pieces!" But his thoughts were interrupted by a warm sensation that gradually became hotter and hotter as the seconds went by. He looked behind him and was met with a horrifying sight: He was heading towards this solar system's central star. He frantically tried clawing away, but found his hands embedded into his own attack.

As he struck the sun, Cooler felt his very skin bubble and melt. The pain was greater than anything he had ever experienced in his life. The armor granted to him by his augmented form soon broke away and dissolved from the pure power of the flames. As Cooler's last thoughts fled his mind, he remembered a small Saiyan pod that had left Planet Vegeta just days before its destruction. He was overcome by rage.

"That was him! I could've killed him! I'm the one who let him go! I let him go…" Cooler felt his attack burst, and all he felt was overwhelming pain, and utter darkness.

He woke up.

He looked around, though that was hard to do, considering he had no neck, and only one eye. Cooler found himself as just a head, sitting on a metal table. His race's biology allowed them to survive even the most grievous injuries as long as they didn't run out of energy. He looked around the room, seeing various instruments and tools. Was he in some sort of doctor's office? Had Sauzer managed to call for a backup ship? Is that why he sat in this room now? Had his army retrieved him from the Milky Way?

He soon heard a door behind him open, angrily waiting for the individual who had walked in to come in front of his face so he could see them. A blue being, dressed in strange green and yellow clothes, appeared before him. "Greetings, your majesty. My name is Doctor Mu, and I'll be your new caretaker. Now then, shall we begin?"
