A/N: Here's Naegiri Week 2022 Day Six, taking place after "New Transfer Student?!" To be honest, this is the entry I'm the least satisfied with, but hopefully it's not too bad. Anyway, please read, review, and enjoy!

The Ultimate Detective and The Ultimate Hope Gaiden: Naegiri Week 2022!

Day Six: First Encounter!

The prison guard roughly sat the incarcerated girl down on the stool, barking, "Tamonozan, you've got a visitor."

"Hm?" Akki looked up, genuinely curious. "You mean someone actually came to visit poor little me in jail? Who…oh, you."

On the other side sat the Headmaster and Vice-Headmistress of Hope's Peak Academy themselves, Makoto and Kyoko Naegi. Their eyes narrowed in disdain for the the young mastermind, who responded with a glare of her own before the guard lightly thumped her over the head.

"Itai!" She groaned, nursing her head.

The guard glared at her before turning his gaze to the couple on the other side of the glass divider. "I don't know why you two want to talk to her, but do as you will. I'll be in the corner over here if you need me."

Makoto nodded as the guard walked out of view. Once the trio were by themselves, Akki spat "So, to what do I owe the pleasure of the Ultimate Hope and his ex-detective wife visiting me in jail?"

"Watch your tongue, Akki." Makoto nearly growled.

Kyoko raised an impressed eyebrow. Though she was generally the more intimidating of the two, Makoto could at time be more intimidating than her when the situation demanded it. She cleared her throat, breaking off the silent glaring contest between her husband and the girl who briefly took over her daughter's middle school.

"We came to try and understand what kind of person would try to continue Junko's tragic legacy…what kind of girl would try to harm our daughter and try to stage a second Tragedy."

"Oh, that's it? I thought you would have had a much more interesting reason for coming here…" Akki huffed, increasing their annoyance with her.

She's as irritating as Junko…guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree… Makoto deadpanned. "How did you find out where Kiki went to school? I doubt you happened to transfer by pure chance."

"Are you kidding? There's no shortage of news articles about the former Ultimate Hope and Headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy. With how much attention you guys get, there's no shortage of online forums talking about you and your children. It was easy enough to sift through all the online chatter and rumors and pin down where Kiki went to school."

…In short, she found out about Kiki the same way I found out about my classmates when I first got accepted to Hope's Peak Academy… Makoto lamented. I wanted to give Kiki and the other kids a life without the pressures of fame from our family name, but I guess that was never really an option…

"Moving on…" Kyoko interjected, curtly cutting off Makoto's line of thought. "Why did you target Kiki? You two had never met before, and she was born well after the Tragedy came to an end."

Akki shrugged. "It would've been way too tough to go after either of you, and the conditions that led to the original Tragedy didn't exist at the new Hope's Peak, so I went for the next best thing. If only Shirogane hadn't kept me at arm's length by offering herself up as a sacrificial lamb, I could have made her fall into despair. Well, Shirogane ended up being a good henchwoman until Kiki snapped her out of it, so I guess it wasn't a total loss. Seeing how scared she was for her friend was a real source of satisfaction, you know?"

Makoto and Kyoko grimaced at Akki's snickering. It wasn't that difficult for them to imagine Junko sitting on the other side of that glass divider instead of the deranged relative that went to school with their daughter.

"Do you have any remorse for what you did?" Makoto demanded. "You took over a school, tormented your peers, abducted the faculty with the intent to kill them, and tried to kill yourself and all the students when things didn't go your way. How can you sleep at night, knowing all that?"

"The only thing I regret is not being able to finish what I started. And I would've gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for your meddling daughter and that silver-haired punk who interfered!"

I'll never be able to thank Munakata enough for showing up when he did… Makoto mused before standing up. "I've had enough. Kyoko, let's go. I've heard everything I needed to hear."

"Aww, you're leaving already? But we were just getting to know each other!"

"…I've already gotten to know one Enoshima. I don't need to get to know her deranged successor, too. I hoped there would be something different about you…something that would allow for some level of redemption, if you were given the proper rehabilitation. But the only difference between you two that I can see is how much of a coward you are compared to her!"

"Agreed." Kyoko stood up, joining her husband. "Let's go, Makoto. I'm already feeling sick to my stomach."

The couple turned and walked out of the visitation room. they never once looked back, not even to see the security guard drag Akki away. Their first encounter with their daughter's arch nemesis was fruitless, and the sooner she would be convicted and sent to prison, the better off they'd all be.
