Once again Sokka was heading to a bar in Republic City. Once again going to drink away the troubles of trying to keep a damn city together. It's been 12 years since Aang defeated Ozai, and they saved the world. Sokka chuckled to himself at the thought. Life was so much simpler than. Now it was endless arguing, and trying to run a city. Oh well, he thought as he entered his favorite bar, The Endless Tap. I'll just get a few drinks here, and maybe even find a nice woman to share a bed with.
So that's what he did. Well, he did the first part, the second part he was still working on. Maybe he was too drunk now, after a long week, he did have a tendency to drink just a bit too much. Still, he was talking to a nice woman named Lee. A weird name for a woman, but he isn't too picky with names. She was built, just like Suki used to be. He does have a type after all. He just needs to find a woman who was powerful, intelligent, witty, and could keep him on his toes. It's probably not Lee, but she is fun enough to be around. He ordered another round, and put his arm over Lee.
Lee seemed to actually enjoy this gesture, as she quickly escorted him outside to the smoking area. Well damn. Isn't she forward, Sokka thought. Right up until she pushed him against the wall outside, and put a knife to his throat.
"Just what the fuck do you think you're doing Sokka? Did my brother send you?", Lee said, with a knife to his throat.
"Hey! Hey!" Sokka quickly put his hands up, trying to diffuse the situation. He's way too drunk to get into a tavern brawl. "Look Lee, I don't know who your brother is, and I'm sorry. I was just enjoying the evening", he quickly said.
"Oh shut the fuck up. You know exactly who I am. Now, give me a reason why I shouldn't kick your ass, and send you back to my brother.", Lee spat. Sokka blinked several times. The knife was starting to sober him up real quick, but he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Azula? Holy fucking hell. What are you doing here?", Sokka responds, in complete confusion and awe. Yeah, his eyes aren't tricking him. Standing in front of him was Azula, sister to one of his best friends, and someone who he really doesn't want to fight, especially drunk.
"Me?", she quickly says with a frown. "I was trying to enjoy my weekend, right up until you came along. I would have figured Zuzu would have stopped sending his goons after me." Sokka couldn't help but laugh at her nickname for one of the most powerful men in the world. "Don't you dare laugh at me."
He quickly tries to stop, but can't help but smile. "Look, Azula. Old Zuzu has stopped looking for you. Shit, he even pardoned all your crimes from the War. You're a damn free woman"
"Then why are you here then?", she says with a heavy frown.
Sokka gives her a little smirk. "Well, like you, I'm just here to enjoy my weekend. Figured I'd get drunk, flirt with some woman and see what happens."
"That doesn't answer my question, dimwit"
"Okay, One, that's hurtful. Two...Look Azula. You're kinda hot, and I'm drunk enough not to recognize you". Now that the knife to his throat sobered him up enough, he can tell that the years have been kind to her. She's still almost as short as she used to be, but damn if she doesn't have muscle now. He'd hate to figure out what she could do in a fight.
Which apparently was the exact wrong thing he could think about, because now all he can think about is Azula kicking his ass. What, he does have a type after all. He also seems to remember a moment like this long ago, but it was him who had her against a dark wall.
"Mhmp", she quickly pushes him again, and goes to leave. "Just leave me alone, peasant". She turns around, and goes to start walking back inside.
Sokka has done some truly dumb things in his life. He once tried to fake a letter written by Toph. For as smart as he is, Sokka knows half his ideas are just absolutely horrible. Make that two-thirds when he is drunk. Even with all that, he knows that he should let her leave. He knows that she has suffered and been through horrible things, and he isn't sure if she ever got mentally stable. He knows that the idea he just had ranks up there in his worst ideas of his life, and he knows he shouldn't act on that horrible dumb idea.
But he just can't help himself.
"Wait!", he quickly says, as he grabs her arm. He is able to stop her, and she looks back at him. He's not sure if she's going to just blast him right there or not.
"Just how dumb are you?"
Sokka just smirks. "Dumb enough to ask you to get a drink with me?"
Azula looks at him for a long time, and Sokka has a thought that this might be his last moment on Earth. "Fine, but you're paying"
