Chapter 6: Castle Brunwald

The car pulled up outside the front door of the castle. Marcus had been sent to find Sallah down in Egypt. The rest of them moved north. Andor smirked at the front door as a man, who had to be the butler, opened it. He climbed out of the car and walked over, speaking in fluent German.

The butler responded and Andor pulled something out of his jacket pocket. He unfolded the paper and held it up. The butler took it and looked down. Andor raised his hand and tapped the guy on the head. Marion thought it wholly amusing how the butler collapsed on the ground.

Andor turned and waved them over. Indy and Marion climbed out of the car and walked over to him. Indy nudged the guy with his foot. The butler didn't even stir. He'd been knocked unconscious.

'How'd you do that?' Marion asked.

'There's a pressure point in the skull,' Andor said. 'You tap it, you can knock a person out cold. Come on.' He led them into the castle. There was a lot of manoeuvring around and Indy found it slightly amusing how Andor knew every corner of this place.

Indy paused and glanced down as they heard voices below them. Marion followed his gaze. There were a group of Germans moving around a board. A painting of Adolf Hitler hung on the wall. Indy curled his lip and Marion slid her hand into his.

Andor came over. He whispered so that no one down there could hear him. 'To be honest, I don't see how any of those guys can sleep at night.'

'No.' Indy frowned. 'We better keep going.'

Andor nodded and led them on, dodging through the corridors, until they came to a door. He nodded towards it. 'Henry Jones one is in here.'

Indy frowned again. 'Why aren't there any guards?'

'They're a corridor over,' Andor said. 'I don't think they've been told any different in regards to the plan. Otherwise I don't know why they're not here.'

'Better to be safe.' Indy walked over to a nearby window and pushed it open. He looked out and climbed onto the sill.

'Indy?' Marion asked, coming over.

'I'll just swing into the room.' Indy looked down and smiled at her. 'Don't worry, baby. I've taken longer leaps than this.'

'All right,' Marion said. 'But be careful.'

Indy blew her a kiss and pulled his whip free from its usual resting place.

Kuh-RACK!

Indy swung out and Marion watched him go. Then she turned around. She strode over to the wall and pulled the lance down. Andor watched as she checked it over. Grinning, Marion looked up at him.

'Andor, I need you to go and check on my son,' she said. 'If it's safe, both you and Marie bring him back to us.'

Andor nodded once. 'Ja, ma'am.'

When Indy landed, he didn't exactly appreciate his father smashing the vase over his head. Of course, once they reached the understanding – "I thought it was one of them" and "they come through the door" – it got to the next bit. Naturally, his father started talking about the Grail. Much to his annoyance.

'…but I couldn't let them find the other half,' he said.

Indy laughed. 'Please! That was removed by a Holy Child.'

Henry looked up at him, startled. 'What's a Holy Child?'

'Uh…' Indy nervously scratched the back of his neck. 'Basically the firstborn child of a guy that refuses to tolerate greed and hate at any level and coming from anyone. Kids get infused with this power. Andor removed the tablet back in the thirteenth century so no one could ever find the Holy Grail.'

'How long have you known about this?' Henry asked.

Indy shrugged. 'About ten years.'

They both jumped as the door suddenly burst open and a Nazi with two soldiers rushed in. Both Henry Joneses raised their hands. Indy took a quick glance over them and internally nodded to himself.

'Hand over the diary!' the leader barked.

Henry scoffed. 'What makes you think my son would be stupid enough to…' He caught the look on Indy's face. 'You didn't?'

Indy shrugged sheepishly. Now that he thought about it, it wasn't exactly a bright move.

Henry looked almost heartbroken. 'I should've given it to the Marx Brothers!'

That was just uncalled for! Indy moved, ducking forward and punching the nearest Nazi in the face, snatching his gun. Without given them time to recover, Indy opened fire. In moments, all were on the ground. His father stood there, shocked.

Indy reached back, grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the room. They only went through two doors before they had to stop. Indy gritted his teeth and aimed his gun at the Nazi.

'Let her go.'

Marion was being held at gunpoint. The fear in her eyes was well-hidden, but he could still see it. The nozzle of the Nazi's gun was right against her head. She was grinding her teeth. Meanwhile, there were a lot of dead Nazis around the place and a bloody lance across the room.

His girl hadn't gone down without throwing some of them even further.

'Throw down the gun,' the Nazi said.

Indy glared at him, holding his ground. The Nazi cocked his own gun and Indy's gaze slipped to his wife's face. He had no choice and they both knew it. Indy lowered the gun and slid it along the table. He watched it hit some glasses. The Nazi released Marion and shoved her at him.

Indy caught Marion and pulled her against his side. They'd get the diary next. Marion was unharmed and they looked back at the Nazis, which Marion hadn't killed, in time to see Elsa walk in with a real nice shiner.

'Lovely eye!' Marion remarked snidely. 'Smack yourself in the face with black paint?'

Elsa smirked bitterly. 'Yes, well, you can credit this to Mr. Dalen's mother.'

Marion smirked right back. 'Well, that's what you get for kidnapping a Holy Child.'

Marion stayed with Indy as Elsa and Vogel led them into the main room. The Nazi bitch had the grail diary. They'd taken if from Indy while holding the lot of them at gunpoint. When the person in the chair took the book and stood neither Marion nor Indy were surprised to see Walter Donovan.

But he was surprised they expected him.

Indy shrugged. 'Seemed a little too convenient. If you're gonna try a ploy like that, don't hand us any convenience. Both of them taken by the same person?'

Donovan smirked. 'I see. I'll be sure to remember that if I ever need to do likewise again.' He turned away.

Marion waited patiently. She could feel Indy was tense though so she squeezed his hand. The pressure around her own fingers in return did a good job of soothing her own frazzled nerves. But at that point in time, all she really wanted was her baby back in her arms.

Marion's attention was drawn back to the matter at hand when Donovan made an angry demand and Elsa rushed over. Marion wasn't really surprised. The map was missing. They'd given it to Marcus when sent him to Egypt. Marion just hoped that Adeola found them before the Nazis did.

'Where's the map?' Donovan demanded, marching over to them.

Indy didn't even blink. 'Where's my son?'

Henry did. He looked at Indy and he blinked in utter confusion. Oh, yeah. Indy had never told him about their little Henry III. He hadn't thought his father would even bother listening. He clearly was now.

The sound of crying suddenly pierced the air. Marion knew that cry too. It'd kept her up nights the past three years as she'd cared for her baby. She detected the sound of a door slamming shut.

The Nazis all spun around. Andor Dalen and Marie Boiur walked around the corner. Marie held a long sword in her hand and Andor held a dagger in his. Nursed on Marie's hip was Henry Walton Jones III. He looked unharmed, but Marion wouldn't know until she was holding him again. Even Indy looked a little shaken.

'Well, there's hardly any point in a surprise attack if you have an upset child, is there?' Marie asked.

Andor nodded. 'I should say not.'

AN: I still haven't completed this, but I am hoping for inspiration later on.
