Chapter 1: Clumsy Fool
Bell-mere was walking toward the mess hall at her base when she heard someone calling her name…followed quickly by the sound of someone falling over a random bench. The redhead Marine simply turned around and laughed at the pitiful sight before her.
"Oi, you clumsy fool! Watch where you're going!"
Donquixote Rosinante slowly got up to his feet, smiling sheepishly. "Hey Belle." He greeted. "How was your combat training?"
"Eh, same 'ol, same 'ol." Bell-mere shrugged. "Vice Admiral Garp shouting curses at us while smacking us around using his 'fists of love.' God Forbid he has any kids."
"Aw, come on! Garp's not bad once you get to know him."
"You just say that because he's your daddy's bestie. So, what you're up to, Roci?"
Rosinante scratched his fluffy blonde hair. "Well. I'm headed to the South Quarter to get some lunch. Did you want to come with me?"
"I don't think Sengoku will approve of you going to the South Quarters, Roci."
"Don't worry, I already cleared it up with him. As long as I had someone with me and I get back before curfew, it's all right."
"So, why me?" Belle-mere asked. "You could ask Kuzan or Maynard? Better yet, how about Smoker? He's a great company when he's not brooding."
"I'd rather have my best friend accompanying me." Rosinante stated.
Belle-mere blushed furiously. She'd always found Rosinante attractive ever since they met three years ago at the Marine Academy. The boy was tall, blonde, and handsome. But he was extremely clumsy and horribly shy. Belle-mere figured because Rosinante was a "silent man" due to eating the Calm-Calm Devil Fruit, he was noticeably quiet and kept to himself. Bell-mere was the complete opposite of Rosinante: brash, outspoken, lively. A strong personality that will make even the toughest of Admirals cringe with fear. So, it surprised everyone (not everyone. Garp totally called it) when these two polar opposite Marine officers became the best of friends.
"Rosinante!" Belle-mere squealed. "You're making me blush and that doesn't happen often. Why the hell not? Beats eating that slop anyway."
"Cool." Rosinante took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. After taking a drag, he exhaled the smoke. "Let's get going. There's a new restaurant I'm dying to try out."
"Sure thing. Just…put yourself out first, Roci."
Rosinante looked at Belle-mere, confused, when he suddenly felt a heat coming from his side. It didn't take long for him to realize that he accidently set himself on fire.
"OH CRAP! NOT AGAIN!" He exclaimed as he tripped, yet again, trying to put the flame out. Belle-mere doubled over in hysterical laughter.
"Stop, drop and roll, you clumsy fool!" She cried.
