A/N: Not sure what part of the animatronic's programming gives them consciousness, so for this story we're just assuming it's little computer chips in their endos that give it to them :)
Set after security breach where all animatronics have been purged on the Glitchtrap virus
Gregory was in Vanessa's office with her as she tapped away on her computer. Freddy was down in parts and services getting an updated endoskeleton, and Gregory was bored. He let Vanessa know it.
"Uughmnh." Gregory said.
Vanessa rolled her eyes and turned to face him. "Alright kid, I know you're bored, but Freddy will be a while still. Why don't you go to the daycare? Sunny is almost finished with his nightly chores."
"But I wanna see Freddy!" Gregory whined.
"Well Freddy isn't even functioning right now! Go destroy something with Monty, or have a S.T.A.F.F bot make you a pizza or something."
"The other animatronics are charging.. what are you doing?"
"Trying to work. Listen kid, you know I've grown a bit of a soft spot for you since the glitch, but this is making sure that doesn't happen again."
"Okay.." Gregory said. He got up and left Vanessa to her work.
A technician confidently stood over Freddy's unconscious form. He had finished replacing the endoskeleton, and had just finished with the casing. He activated Freddy and he robotically sat up. The technician pumped his fist in celebration.
"Alright bud, time to get back out there. You've got a show tomorrow."
Freddy stood up and walked stiffly out of parts and services.. and bumped into a wall. The technician knitted his brow as Freddy made no effort to turn around. He shrugged. "I'll fix it later." He said to himself. He looked towards the old endo in the corner and picked it up as best he could, dragging it to the basement where the endos were kept. When he came back, Freddy had made no progress in moving away from the wall.
The technician looked at him strangely.
"Alright bud, I'm off the clock right now, I'll fix ya tomorrow, 'Kay?"
No response.
The technician shrugged and simply guided Freddy towards the elevator with him. Once they got up to the main level, Gregory was waiting for him.
"Freddy! How was your maintenan-" Gregory stopped as Freddy robotically walked right by him, seemingly not even hearing him.
Gregory tilted his head in confusion.
"Hey kid, your pal has a bit of an error in his system, I'll fix it tomorrow." The technician said.
Gregory watched him leave as he went through every possible glitch he knew that would make Freddy act like that. He didn't have much time to think however when Freddy crashed into a wall, leaving a dent in both his muzzle and the wall. Gregory rushed over to steer Freddy away from the wall and to his Greenroom.
Freddy woke up in complete darkness. He noticed something was different right away, he felt lighter, and there were weird light metallic footsteps all around him. After a quick scan, he noticed he was surrounded by Endoskeletons. Suddenly, Freddy had a sinking feeling. He got up and hurried over to go find a reflective surface. His fears were soon confirmed.
'My casing! The technician must have forgot to transfer my memory chip.'
Freddy looked around for the door. He located it quickly and peered out. The technician was still there, but he was headed for the door with what he thought was him. Freddy banged on the door.
'Wait!' Freddy tried to say, with only a string of beeps and screeches coming out. His voice box was with his casing. Freddy watched as the technician left with his casing, off to see his friends. Freddy tried the door. Locked. There were no windows, and only one door. Officer Vanessa or one of his friends would notice he wasn't himself. They would most likely piece it together sometime tonight. And if not, tomorrow when the endo goes up on stage he won't sing, and they'll know something is wrong.
Freddy being the worried animatronic that he is however, started to have a million thoughts rush through his head. 'What if the endo can sing? What if he does get out? What if he won't ever see Gregory again?'
Freddy would have been on the verge of tears of he wasn't a robot. He tried the door again more frantically. He rushed around for some way to get out with no luck. Eventually, he slumped down in a corner in defeat. He was pretty sure this was what humans were talking about when they said 'panic attack'.
An hour later, Gregory was watching Freddy in astonishment as he continuously banged into the wall in his room. Apparently, he was making quite a disturbance as Roxy appeared at the doorway.
"Hey Freddy, would you keep it-" she looked over at Freddy, completely unaware of her presence. She looked over to Gregory next, who was looking at her with a dumbfounded expression.
She walked over to Freddy and turned him towards her.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked.
"The technician said he had a system error," Gregory responded.
Roxy narrowed her eyes. Bugs didn't usually do this. She did a quick scan of his systems and stared for a moment before a realization hit her.
"Where's your memory chip..?" She whispered.
"What?" Gregory asked.
"His memory chip isn't influencing his systems. It's not there." Roxy replied.
"Is that the thing that makes you guys.. you guys?" Gregory asked.
Roxy nodded, letting go of Freddy.
"So.. that's not Freddy." Gregory replied.
Roxy nodded more frantically.
Gregory hopped up. "Then where is he?!"
"Well they didn't remove his memory chip, so it's probably in one of the endo's in the basement."
"There are a gazillion of those things!" Gregory replied. "How do we find Freddy? Aren't those things usually hostile?"
"They aren't friendly, that's for sure. Freddy will still be.. Freddy, tho."
"So why hasn't this one attacked us?"
"Beats me. Probably because it's up here and the light is overwhelming it." Roxy replied. She sighed. "We should go ask officer Vanessa to let you down into the basement to look for Freddy. Just ask her to turn the endo's power off."
"Well then how do we know which one is Freddy?"
Roxy lowered her ears. "Alright.. we'll just turn them back on one at a time so you can find Freddy."
"What about you? Aren't you gonna come?"
"You think those things are aggressive towards you?! You don't want to see how they are with animatronics who do have casing." Roxy laughed. "Now get going, Freddy hates being without his casing as much as any of us do."
Gregory gave her a solute and ran off to find Vanessa.
Vanessa was just finishing up her work for the night when Gregory came bounding into the room.
"Vanessa!" He yelled.
She jumped and instinctively reached for her taser.
"Jeez! Don't do that kid!" She yelled. "Whaddya want?"
"The stupid technician forgot to put Freddy's memory chip into the new endoskeleton Now he's down in the basement with the rest of them and I need you to turn off their power and give me something to turn it back on with so I can find Freddy!" Gregory gasped.
Vanessa was looking at him like he had three heads. After a minute, she just shook her head and did what was asked of her.
"Alright, the endo's are all powered down. Here's the control to turn their power off and on. Just press the buttons one at a time and they'll turn on an endo. You'll find Freddy eventually. Oh, and where's the Freddy casing with the other endo?"
"In his greenroom with Roxy."
"Great. Thanks, Greg. Not get outta here."
Soon, Gregory had gotten down to the basement and the endo's were all on the other side of a door. With a flashlight in one had and a control in the other, Gregory opened the door. As he crept through the room to a fight of stairs in case anything went wrong, he noticed how creepy it was to be here when they were all powered off.
As he got to the to the top of the stairs, he pressed the button to turn on the first endo.
It sat up slowly.
"Freddy?" Gregory yelled. The endo skeleton did nothing. It slowly looked up to him and got up. Then in started to change. Gregory quickly cut his power. He pressed the second button. Called for Freddy, endo charged, powered off.
Gregory was down there for hours trying all the buttons, but he was not leaving without Freddy. He was about 2 thirds of the was though the endo's and was beginning to loose hope. He looked down at the controller.
Endo 57GrF
Gregory pressed the button. He opened his mouth to call for Freddy, but this one got up from his spot and started to pull at the door. Gregory watched the endo struggle with the door for a moment. It made a strained screeching noise and slumped down against the door.
"Freddy?" Gregory called.
It looked up towards Gregory's voice and Gregory could have sworn his eyes got brighter. The endo started running towards Gregory and Gregory jumped back.
He seemed to realize his mistake as he stopped charging and started to slowly approach.
"Freddy?" Gregory asked again.
The endo game a string of beeps in response.
"Right.. no voice box. C'mon, let's get you out of here."
Gregory led Freddy out of the room and locked the door behind him.
As they were about the get on the elevator, Freddy grabbed Gregory's forearm. Gregory looked behind him at Freddy.
"Huh? What's wrong?" Gregory asked.
Freddy's eyes shifted down at himself and then back to Gregory.
"You don't want to go up without your casing?"
Freddy nodded.
"Alright. Wait in parts and services. I'll get it."
Gregory left Freddy in parts and services as he went back up to his greenroom. Roxy was still there watching the endo, who had now made a significant dent in the wall.
"Did you find Freddy?" She asked.
"Yup, he just didn't wanna come up without his casing."
Roxy laughed. "Oh yeah, being without our casing is kind of like being naked for us." She explained.
"That makes sense, I guess." Gregory said. "You mind helping me get this thing down to Parts and Services?"
"Sure, anything for the big oaf."
Roxy grabbed the endo by the hand as if he were a child and lead him back down to parts and services with Gregory.
Roxy stopped at the elevator and let Gregory go down alone. Gregory lead the endo into the protective cylinder with Freddy and Freddy jumped. He titled his head looking at his casing strangely. Gregory turned the endo off and placed it on the table. He took apart Freddy's head and looked over the endo for a place to put the chip. Turns out, it was labeled.
'That idiot technician is so gonna be fired,' Gregory smirked.
Gregory took the chip out of the old endo skeleton and placed it in the new one, the one with Freddy's casing around it. The old endo slumped onto the floor lifelessly. Gregory powered up Freddy and he sat up, scooping Gregory into a hug.
"Thank you, superstar!" Freddy said. "I must confess, I was worried you wouldn't notice I wasn't myself."
"No, it was pretty easy to tell. The stupid technician just thought you were glitched tho."
"I.. see. That does explain things."
"Well, he's totally gonna get fired. And if he doesn't, I'll make him quit." Gregory smirked, already thinking of revenge ideas. He looked at the clock. 5:50. The technician was probably back. And Gregory had some choice words for him.
Vanessa, Gregory and Freddy were standing 20 metres from the main doors of the pizzaplex. The technician walked in and Vanessa called out to him.
"Hey, Dipshit!" She yelled.
The technician looked over to his superior and walked over.
"Mmhm, hey boss. What's up?"
Vanessa rolled her eyes. He was hung over. Gregory looked up at Freddy.
"This the guy that was working on your repairs last night?" He asked.
Freddy looked nervous to see him, but nodded.
Gregory gave him the death stare. "You know you forgot to take Freddy's memory chip out of the old endo. He was down in the basement with the other endo's in the dark for hours last night." Gregory told him.
"Ohh, so that's what it was. I thought you were acting weird!"
Vanessa's eye twitched. He was playing it off as a joke. Well, if that's how he wanted to play it.
"You know, we here at Fazbear entertainment take the care of our animatronics very seriously."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked.
"You're fired. Now get out," Vanessa said.
Two S.T.A.F.F bots grabbed him by the arms and started dragging him out. He let out a stream of curses, but none of them payed attention.
"C'mon, Freddy. You need to get ready for your next show."
