I woke up in a cold sweat, I rolled over looking at the clock, it was 6:30 in the morning. I had been in Los Angeles for a week. Amy who was now my foster mom, and I had been head-to-head a few times. I was good at shutting people out, her secret weapon was my 3-year-old foster sister Stella, who she would send into my room when I was in a battle with her and refused to communicate with the family.
I looked over to see Stella sleeping on the foot of my bed. "Hey" I whispered, stella sat up looked at me, gave me that smile, and crawled up close to me, covering herself with my blanket.
Later that night, John came home. I looked at him, "Are you going to tell me why my parents gave you and Amy custody, you told me you would tell me when we got home, I've been here a week, and you change the subject every time I ask." I said looking at john. He looked down putting a fork of potatoes into his mouth. I started to get angry, "Why hide it from me, why lie to me, was it to make things easy on you and her." I said pointing angrily at Amy. " Please don't start another fight at dinner, I just want to eat and not get my dinner thrown at me." I heard from John's 16-year-old son sitting across from me.
I stood up pushing my plate away from me, walking out of the dining room, but before I exited, I grabbed the back of Tyler's head and pressed his face down on his plate. As I walked up the stairs to my room I heard Amy talking. "She needs anger management, therapy, or something, the only one she connects with is our 3-year-old." " I like my sister." I heard Stella say, I noticed that the stellar plate was empty as I had left the room. I walked back down the stairs and into the dining room, I turned my back to Stella's chair, she climbed up onto my back and we exited the dining room.
a few hours later, I heard Amy calling for the mini munchkin, it was bath time. I heard Amy coaxing her into the bathtub. As I came out of my room a few minutes later, Amy exited from the bathroom soaked from head to toe, handing me Stella wrapped in a towel, she wants you." she said walking off to change her clothes. I went into Stella's bedroom, and got Stella dressed in her pajamas, "Get a book kid, and I will read to you." I said. I watched her eyes slowly closed as she fell asleep. I walked out of her room and headed back to my room, I saw Tyler standing in the hallway. "What is your problem, they are not going to let you go back to Wisconsin, no matter how angry you act, how disrespectful you are, you are stuck here, I heard dad and amy talking about adopting you." He said. I saw red, I was pissed. I went downstairs, I stopped in the kitchen to grab a bottle of water before going out to the backyard. I sat for a while, I heard the back door open and saw John exit. "You've been so angry, and distant, I didn't want you to shut down on us, which in reality it happened anyways." He said sitting across from me. "Is it true that you and Amy want to adopt me?" I asked. "Yes, Amy and I had talked about it, we discussed it with the older kids," he said. I teared up "Please don't push adoption, I will try better to not be so angry, I will work on the disrespectful attitude, Can you please tell me the truth of why my parents gave custody to you and Amy?" I asked. "Your dad and I went to high school together, we lost touch over the years, but we reconnected and he said you were having issues, and he needed help, he wouldn't have handed you over to just anyone, it took a lot for him to give me custody," he said.
Weeks passed, and things settled down, I did have anger outbursts, mostly at Carly, and equally at Tyler who pushed me, and Jason was terrified of me.
