CH 2

Alura's POV

Rooster and I were practically melded together with how tight he held me. The excitement around us turned to one of confusion that we easily ignored in favor of being in each other's arms for the first time in over a year.

"Sol, I missed you! Why didn't you tell me you would be here? I tried to get ahold of you but your CO said you were stateside and your manager said you weren't around." He said, dragging her to a booth so they could sit and talk. They sat down, but she didn't even get a chance to ask before they were bombarded by their fellow Navy pilots wanting answers.

"Well well, what do we have here? Hey Bradshaw, how do you know a famous singer and why didn't you mention her?" A guy with blonde hair and an arrogant smirk asks as he saunters to us, only to get smacked upside the head by a pretty brunette. The same one who called Bradley earlier. I answered before Bradley could, not wanting an argument to break out, and said.

"If I wanted you to know who I was I would have introduced myself. It's none of your business jerkwad, I don't know you nor do I care to so please leave." I said in my heavy Columbian accent that had never gone away in the years I had lived here in Cali. It made my words somewhat disjointed and hard to understand. I gave him my best glare that always worked before, and he seemed to stand down. The brunette girl smirked and looked at Brad.

" Well since no one is going to introduce me I'll do it myself. I'm Natasha but everyone calls me Phoenix and that moron was Hangman. You can ignore him. We all do," She said with a smile.

"I'm Alura but everyone calls me Sol. It's nice to meet you Phoenix." I said, my words still disjointed.

"So how do you to know each other?" She asked. I looked at Bradley to see if he wanted to share. He nodded at me, and I gave him the start-talking look.

"Guys, I want you to meet Alura Diaz-Bradshaw, my wife." There were shocked faces, and the guy Hangman looked like he had swallowed a lemon. I laughed at their looks which seemed to snap them out of their stupor and had several questions thrown at us.

"Brad and I met when we were 4 years old. He walked right up to me and asked if I was an angel. I said no and he asked if I wanted to be friends. I offered to share my fries and asked if he wanted to color with me. We've been best friends since. We started dating at 13 to the surprise of no one, and I honestly couldn't imagine my life without him." I gave the short version since they didn't need details. The bell rang then to signal an overboard. Neither Brad nor I looked up, which means we missed what would have been a very ugly encounter.

"Anyway, I do believe I want some time alone with my beautiful lady here, so we're going to head out. Catch you later." He said while helping me out of the booth. If we had looked back, we would have noticed the look of jealousy and determination in Phoenix's eyes.

"Well now, sir, I wasn't ready to umph…." I was interrupted by being pushed against the Bronco, and Bradley's lips were attacking mine. I wound my hands around his neck, and he reached down to and grabbed my ass. I moaned and pulled away enough to say we should take this back to the room. We both got in the truck and drove back to where Bradley was staying, which just happened to be the house his parents had owned when his dad was alive. We barely made it through the doors before we were shedding clothes, and I was pinned to the wall with him plowing into me. I knew he was making up for the last year that we had been apart, so I just disengaged our mouths and said, "Bed Now!" We made our way there but not without bumping into several walls. By the time we made it to the bedroom, it was all feverish passion, and we were nearing our orgasms. Bradley reached his hand down to rub my sensitive clit, and it didn't take long till I was screaming his name as I came around him, and he came a few thrusts later. We were curled up together under the sheets when I finally spoke.

"It's nice to be home and in your arms again. I missed this place and all its memories." I told him. I had missed the home that we had practically been raised in. It felt right to be back here after so long.

"I know what you mean. I wish we weren't away from each other so much, but we knew going in that they would probably separate us, Sol." He said, looking at me. I could still see the love for me in his eyes and decided that if we were going to perform at our best tomorrow, we needed to sleep, so I laid my head on his chest as I snuggled up to him and fell asleep. He followed not long after, and neither of us was aware of the storm that awaited us the next day.

We woke up hours later to the ringing of our alarms and went to get dressed I was lucky I had accidentally left one of my uniforms here because then we would have had to stop at the barracks. After a quick breakfast, we jumped in the Bronco and headed to the base. We were the first ones there, so we found ourselves a couple of seats and sat down. We didn't have to wait long because a few more people showed up. I jumped up when I recognized two of them.

"Payback, Fanboy, I can't believe it! I haven't seen you guys since the academy! How have you been? The gang is back!" I hugged both of them and then dragged them over to sit by Bradley and me.

"Guys this is Bradley Bradshaw, but you can call him Rooster. Babe this is Payback and Fanboy." I introduced the guys before continuing, "They had my back in our first round of Top Gun. They were also my wingmen." I finished explaining. Brad only had time to thank them before the woman from last night interrupted and tried to commandeer Brad's attention. It didn't work. I had never seen Brad look at another woman the way he did me, and it made me love him even more for it. We all had to find a desk a minute later because the men in charge came in, and we were called to attention. The man introduced himself and gave his speech about flying a mission and learning from "The Best of the Best." When I got a look at who he was talking about, I froze in my seat.

No, it couldn't be.

Maverick!

Sorry for it taking so long to get this out. I just finished school a couple of weeks ago, but both my jobs have me hoping. Hopefully, I'll have some time now before next semester starts to get a couple more chapters out for this story and This Is War Rewrite. Hope you enjoy it, and I promise to update soon.
