Chapter 57:

"Come in!"

William felt his heart skip when he heard her beautiful voice. He lowered the handle and opened the door. And he remained frozen when he saw her standing with her back to him checking a paper on her desk. She was dressed entirely in white, her blonde hair blending seamlessly into her outfit. She looked like an angel...

He quietly closed the door behind him and looked at her.

"Julia?" he hesitated, not recognizing his timid little voice.

She dropped her paper and quickly turned her head towards him, her eyes widening.

"William!" she exclaimed before a huge smile formed on her face.

She walked quickly towards him and held out her arms. He also walked over and tightened his arms around her, smelling her floral scent.

"I missed you so much." she whispered to him.

He felt his heart finally let go of all the tension and breathed relief into her hair.

"I missed you too, Julia…" he kissed her cheek and caressed her cheek looking tenderly into her eyes. "I love you, sweetheart."

He saw her eyes sparkle as her smile grew again, mirroring his own.

"I'm so sorry William, I haven't had a second to myself since we got back and…"

"Do not worry. It was the same for me. But it finally calmed down." he smiled at her again. "I had to attend the Lauzon trial as a witness and as a police officer…"

"Oh, yes, I heard about it. And Magnus told me he went there…"

William tensed slightly at the realization of what she was saying.

"He came to see you." William said, gritting his teeth slightly.

"Yes…in all friendship, William." the young woman smiled, amused, as she picked up the paper she had dropped earlier and placed it on her desk.

"Yes, I know." he tried to pull himself together. "Finally, the boys were sentenced to hang…"

Julia sighed. "I find it…sad…" she said, meeting his gaze.

"Yes… Unfortunately, the motive for the murder could only be that… given Lamoureux's reputation. It would have been a sad and inevitable end."

"I also heard that Marie Gosselin had been escorted to a psychiatric home to assess her condition after the events on The Winter Mist." Julia declared.

"It's the truth. And she was fired by Madam Hébert of course."

"Oh…She deserves better than that old owl as an employer, anyway."

"Finally! Julia!" laughed William heartily.

"What? It's the truth. This woman is bitter…"

William nodded.

"I don't know if you are aware, but Walid Champagne has filed for divorce for fault…" finally informed the young man.

"No, I didn't know… But it's not really surprising. I mean, not only was she unfaithful, but also with a man like Mr. Lamoureux… with such a bad reputation… well, you see." Julia waved her hand nonchalantly.

"Yes…" he inhaled. "So? You're okay?"

"Marvelously well. I feel…" Julia inhaled happily. "… so well!"

William smiled and approached Julia until he was in front of her. She pulled back slightly, the tops of her thighs touching the desk behind her, on which she rested her hands.

"You wanted to tell me something, detective?" she asked playfully, moving her hands up to push his collar up and fiddle with his black tie.

"Well, I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me tonight. And maybe… end the night together if you know what I mean." he replied with as much playfulness as the young woman.

"Well…I don't know…let me think…" Julia lifted her chin slightly and narrowed her eyes in thought. "Do you have any way of convincing me, sir?"

The detective felt his own eyes dilate.

"I'm thinking of something, indeed." he whispered sensually.

He approached his lover and gently placed his lips on hers. He then pulled away slightly and looked at Julia with a bright smile.

"You are so beautiful when you smile." the young woman suddenly said.

"I missed your lips so much." replied William.

They approached each other again and let themselves be slightly carried away by the moment. William put his hands on the hips of the young woman to bring her as close as possible to him. Julia ran her hands through her detective's raven black hair.

And suddenly – as William would often say – the office door opened, and soft gasps were heard as the two lovers quickly parted. The young man looked towards the door and could see a man a little older than them as well as two nurses, a woman in heels and two men in suits looking around the room, looking bewildered. He saw Julia turn slightly towards her desk to hide her face from intruders. He looked at her and saw her put the back of her hand over her mouth. William had the unpleasant impression that she was upset by this scene, but he was surprised to realize that she was preventing herself from bursting out laughing.

She quickly turned her face towards the people present in the room and still silent, a smile on her face, her cheeks slightly rosy.

"What can I do for you?" she asked calmly, as if nothing had just happened.

"I…Julia…" began the older man who was wearing a doctor's coat.

William lifted his head and looked him straight in the eyes. Julia? Why did he call her by her first name?

"Doctor Ogden." he corrected himself. "I wanted to introduce you to the new investors of our hospital…"

"Oh sure I..." Julia pulled herself together and found a more serious face. "Will you wait outside my office, William?" she whispered to him, although, the room being small, the others could hear what she said perfectly well.

The young detective nodded slightly, somewhat bewildered by the situation. He hoped that Julia would not be mad at him after that... He picked up his hat that he had put on Julia's desk and put it back on his head. He then walked towards the people watching him with widened eyes and slightly pointed the exit, embarrassed, as no one pushed to let him pass.

"Excuse me..." he said, scratching the back of his head.

Finally, William was able to pass and closed the door behind him. He then noticed the young woman at reception watching him from across the hall. She gave him an apologetic smile and then left. William thought that she must have been asked where Doctor Ogden was and that she had told them that she had company in her office and should not be disturbed. However, they had entered the office all the same and he easily imagined the young woman chasing after them on six floors to make them understand that it was strange that William had not yet come out of the doctor's office.

The young man shivered. Luckily, they were not doing anything compromising when the door opened.

Note: William and Julia are constantly interrupted haha! Even in the series it always seems like that. Thanks to Joyfully-Fascinating who left me comments on my previous chapters :) I'm glad you liked the outcome.
