Jack stood outside the cabin and looked out over the water. They had come home from Charmaine's place after they send her off with the ambulance. After Mel gone to sleep, Jack went outside as he was too wired to sleep. His head was spinning out of control.

What a crazy month. First they survived an emergency landing with an airplane. Mel was taking him camping. She would break her no sleeping on the ground rule for him. That would have been something else, too bad it didn't happen. They could have almost crashed on the way home instead.

Then he drank so much as he passed out and missed Joey's wedding. His actions caused Mel both hurt and sadness. Not only did he miss the wedding, he also made them worrying about him by not answering his phone or any text messages. All of them, not just Mel. They thought something had happened to him and everyone was out looking for him.

He feels so ashamed that he worried them all and the worst part, he hurt Mel. Really hurt her. He can't believe he treated her like that. Seeing her like that broke his heart. That's why he decided to give the therapist a real go. He must get help so nothing like this don't happen again. He must get his drinking under control.

He can't do that to Mel a second time. No wait, make that a third time. He almost forgot the week before when he had too much and fell asleep outside the cabin. Never again, he can't lose her. Not now when he is one step closer to his dream. He proposed, she said yes, they are engaged. They are getting married, husband and wife. He loves her so much, she means the world to him.

He has never loved any woman like he loves Mel. He is overwhelmed with happiness. He is going to marry the most wonderful, kind and beautiful woman he ever met. They are going to have a baby and now knowing it's his baby for certain is honestly such relief. Nothing will stand in the way of loving their baby with all he got. No doubt, no hesitating, no jealously will show its ugly head in the future.

It's one thing to say you will love another one's child the same as your own, another thing to do it 100%, without it linger somewhere in your conscience and flair up when you least expect it to.

Mel is going to be such a wonderful mother. He can't wait to meet their child. Their miracle baby. He is pretty pleased and proud of himself, that he and Mel created a new life. Their love created a miracle baby when the doctors said she wouldn't get pregnant without any help and then with very small chance to both conceive and succeed.

All of that was enough thoughts to think of and then he was still struggling to figure out how he would be supporting three kids. On top of all that, Charmaine dropped the bomb. The twin boys she was carrying isn't his. She had lied the entire time. Every day until yesterday she decided to continue to lie to him.

Why? Why would she do that? Had he hurt or treated her so bad, that this was some revenge? Were his feelings for Mel so obvious that Charmaine on the few occasions she and Mel met noticed it and lied because of jealousy? Did she think he would stay with her if she was pregnant? If he hadn't fallen in love with Mel, he would probably have continued the way he did.

But if he hadn't developed any feelings for Charmaine during their two years acquaintance, he probably wouldn't just because they were having a child together. He would be there for here, support her as he did now, provide for the child and be the best father he could. But he doubts he would lover her, otherwise they would have had a normal relationship to begin with. He made it clear from the start he didn't want a relationship, but they could see each other in a casual way and she agreed with him.

They never got an answer from Charmaine to why she did it, just that she was sorry. They didn't want to press her when she was in pain. They will ask again in a couple of days, but beside the answer to why, is what will he do now. Will he abandon the twins or should he, even if she lied, try to be some father figure for them.

Or should he give in to the feelings of relief that are washing over him, that he is glad that he isn't going to have a child with Charmaine. It was going so good with Mel then Charmaine's pregnancy threw a real curveball in his life. It delayed the start of their relationship and they have broken up twice by it.

Now he could concentrate on Mel and their baby and let go off how he will manage three babies at the same time. So many times he wished it was Mel that was pregnant instead off Charmaine. To have a child with someone you love rather then do what's right and take responsibility for your actions.

His reactions to gonna be a father was so different this time around. When Charmaine told him it was like a dark cloud hanging over him and shadowed his future he hoped he would have with Mel. They had only been on one date and kissed twice, but he had already fallen in love with Mel. He knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Mel. Not do the right thing and marry Charmaine, who he doesn't love so the child she was carrying would have the security of a normal family.

When Mel told him she was pregnant, he was overwhelmed with joy. He must admit when she told him it could be Mark's was another little curveball, but he was so happy for Mel's sake. Mel really deserves to be a mother after everything that she has been through and now she will. They are gonna be a family. He couldn't be more happy, living the life he he wants. Life is good.

Jack shivered and was aware that it was a bit cold to be outside in just jeans and a t-shirt and went inside. Just seeing Mel in the bed sleeping warmed his heart. She is such a beautiful woman. Jack undressed and slipped under the covers so gentle he could to not wake her up. He snuggled close to her and inhale her familiar scent which immediately calmed his senses.

Jack strokes over the engagement ring on her finger. He was such a lucky guy. He is going to marry the woman he loves with all his heart. He didn't know you could love someone this much. To experience what real love is at his age. A bit sad it took so long time for him to fall in love, but on the other hand it's a cool story for the grandchildren. To be able to say that his first love was grandma, despite they weren't high school sweethearts.
