Summary: He really was a square. But he was her square.
Rated: K
A/N: I only got into AoS over the past year thanks to it being on Disney+ (and I loved it!), so this is my first attempt at a short AoS fic. Set just after S7. :)
"I gotta get you some new words." — Mack
Daniel Sousa knew he had a lot of catching up to do with just about everything when it came to the 21st century. But, new words? They were going to take some getting used to. What was wrong with the old words, he wondered. Everyone always gave him a funny look when he used words or phrases they didn't know, just like he always gave them a funny look when they used words or phrases he didn't know.
"Hey, Sousa… can you pass me the iPad?" Kora asked rather politely, even though the question came without a 'please'. She didn't point it out; she wanted to see if he knew what she was talking about. Had Daisy, the computer geek, shown him yet?
The funny look involuntarily flashed on Daniel's face. iPad? He hadn't heard of—
"Never mind," Kora said through a sigh, and went to get the iPad herself. She could feel his confused but intrigued eyes watching her the entire time, as he tried to figure out what she meant.
"Oh!" Daniel said in realisation once she was holding it in her hand, but he was still completely confused. "The flat… computer… That's called an iPad?"
Kora was grinning from ear to ear as he repeated the word 'iPad' several times to himself. She thought it was quite funny to see him struggling with all the new technology and terminology. "Stop teasing him," came Daisy's voice, just when Kora was about to reply. "We've almost arrived. Prepare Z3 for landing."
The grin disappeared from Kora's face quickly and she got up equally as fast. "Copy that," she said seriously, before heading down to the cockpit.
"Ignore her," Daisy told Daniel while she was walking over to him. "Come and have a look at the view. I know you've seen New York City before, but that was a few decades ago. The city is looking very different these days."
Daniel put his arm around her waist as soon as he stood up. "Wow!" he exclaimed once the pair were looking out the window. It was the same kind of reaction he'd had to Daisy's phone when they were in 1976. Daniel was in awe of what he was seeing, but then something hit him that he wasn't too surprised about. "Still Antsville I see."
Antsville? A frown formed on Daisy's face, although it was soon replaced by a little smile. She couldn't help herself. He was definitely the world's biggest square. But he was her square.
