BETA: Annabelle

Finding Viktor in the cornfields was pure luck, since Five only knew which cornfield he was in, and not Viktor's exact location within it. Having the Swedes find them as they were leaving was unfortunate, because not only did they have guns, but they were physically more powerful then both Five and Viktor combined. One on one, the Hargreeves may have had a chance, yet together the Swedes were overpowering.

It was difficult enough just getting through the cornfield, but Five and Viktor also had to keep track of each other as they made their way to Viktor's station wagon.

As they ran, Viktor was able to use his powers against the Swedes to temporarily push them back while Five concentrated on protecting Viktor. However, in doing so, he accidentally ran into the butt end of one the Swedes' guns, and sustained a severe head injury. He barely made it to the backseat of the car before passing out.

Five slipped in and out of consciousness while Viktor drove down the road. He heard Viktor talking to him, but he couldn't understand anything until the car pulled up into a driveway.

"Oh my god, what happened?" A female voice said. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, but we were attacked in the fields near town," Viktor replied as he put the car in park and got out. "Please, my brother needs help."

Five heard the back door open and the cool, fresh air blew in. It felt good.

"He got hurt protecting me."

Five opened his eyes to see a blonde woman climbing in and starting to check him over.

"You're safe now, okay? We'll get you all fixed up."

The other door opened and Viktor peeked his head in.

"This is Sissy, and she can help us," he said.

Five wanted to say no, that they needed to get away from this place and back to Elliot's with Diego and Lila, but he couldn't. The darkness was creeping in again. The last thing he heard was Sissy telling him it would be okay.

Five woke up on the couch in the middle of the night, the only light coming from the moon peeking through the curtains. His attempt to sit up was thwarted by the severe pain throbbing inside his skull. He was dizzy and had a sudden urge to throw up.

"I'm going to be sick."

He tried to get up again but only succeeded in making the pain worse.

The kitchen light flicked on and Viktor made his way to the couch with a glass of water and some pills.

"I'd ask how you are doing but I think it's pretty obvious," Viktor said.

"Where am I?"

Viktor knelt beside the couch.

"Sissy's farm," he replied. "Now take these."

Five sat up just enough to swallow the pills with the water before lying back down.

"Why don't you go back to sleep, Five? I have questions but we can talk in the morning."

"Sure," Five said, right before he passed out (again).

Five woke up to a headache and the smell of coffee.

"How are you this morning?" Viktor asked from the kitchen. He was pouring coffee in a white mug, with a second full cup nearby.

"Better than last night," he stated. Five got up slowly and made his way to the dining room table. "Where is everyone?"

"Sleeping. It's still early, but they should be up soon."

Viktor walked over to the table, placed the two mugs of coffee on the table before them and sat down.

"So you're my younger brother, huh? How many more siblings do I have? I already know about Luther."

Five tried the coffee; it wasn't bad.

"I'm older, actually," Five said between sips. "I'm 58, and there were 7 of us, including you."

"Fifty-eight—wait, what? How? What's going on?"

"Well…" Five gave a brief rundown on who he was and the main events leading up to the present.

Silence followed and Viktor had the same confused expression as the first time Five explained that he came back from the future.

"You don't believe me, do you?" Five asked.

Five shook his head.

"Of course you don't, but I don't know what I expected."

Viktor's eyes glazed over and he didn't respond.

"Viktor?"

No response.

"Viktor," Five said, placing a hand on Viktor's shoulder.

Viktor snapped out of the trance.

"I remember, we talked about this before, didn't we? I couldn't process what you were saying. You became upset and left," Viktor responded. "I looked but I couldn't find you."

Five took another drink of coffee.

"It took a long time for everyone to believe me."

Viktor seemed to space out again.

"Peanut butter and marshmallows."

"What?" Five was taken aback.

"I remember you used to like peanut and marshmallow sandwiches. As a kid, I would leave them out for you after you disappeared, in case you came back," Viktor said. "We used to be close."

Five drank the last of the coffee and set the mug down.

"We were. Do you remember anything else?"

"No, I'm sorry," Viktor replied, shaking his head.

"That's fine," Five stated.

Viktor stood up.

"I'll start breakfast. Do you want anything in particular?"

"Anything is fine."

They still weren't safe. They needed to get back to the city and rejoin the other Hargreeves siblings, but that could wait until after breakfast.
