"Manda, am I driving you home tomorrow? The last thing we need is a headline 'Special Victims Detective arrested for driving home blasted from the State Police Conference'" Fin chuckles. Her skin crawls at the mention of the night ahead, the night that has had her in cold sweats nightly for nearly three weeks since she had received his call. She forces a smile and replies "As much as I would love a few drinks, im staying sober tomorrow, no need to chauffeur." "I don't mind driving, drink all you want. You finally have a babysitter and lord knows you could use one, or three."
Fin chuckles and she can't help but join in. She knows she's been an uptight ass lately but his stupid jokes always made her feel warm and safe. Fin just had the presence, god was she glad he would be there tomorrow. She laughs off a maybe knowing she wont drink, she will not allow herself to be in any way vulnerable with this man near ever again. She feels a small amount of relief at the thought of staying sober and continued to push forward with her work until 8:00 pm rolled around. Everyone but her and Liv had gone and she could see the captain collecting her coat and purse from the office window. She approaches the blonde and sees the exhaustion on Amanda's face. She sees the effort that she is putting into not looking exhausted as well. "Amanda, it's late. Why don't we walk out together?" She smiles. Amanda bites the anxiety back for the millionth time today and smiles back. "Sure Liv, let me just get my stuff together." It wasn't like Amanda not to give pushback, especially when the situation could box her into a confrontation, but she was too tired to keep an act up and figures going home to indulge would be the best step to surviving until the morning. They stand in the elevator in an awkward exchange. Four flours pass before anyone speaks. "So the conference tomorrow, that's gonna be a blast from the past, huh? I'm sure it won't be fun but there is an open bar…" olivia chuckles. She knows it cant be comfortable for Amanda to see her old squad, she had spoken on their boys club etiquette and with the way Patton swooped in and took ownership of the Pattern 17 rapist, she could assume he was a bit of a sexist ass.
