Magic high school was no different from normal high school except for the magic part. Magic high school had club activities to promote activities outside studies. Regular tournament would be hold inside the school or outside the school such as friendly match or national competition. First Magic High School offered their students many clubs to choose. Because First Magic High School was a magic school, clubs that involved magic were prevalent. That did not mean there were no normal club at all. There were many normal clubs such as the kendo club, the cooking club, the swimming club, and many more.
To be recognized as a club, a club needed to meet some requirements but the most important requirement was to have a certain number of members.
That was why this demonstration event was important.
They had the best chance to recruit new blood into their pack or to create a new club. Most of them would show what their routines were like or to show they could win the next tournament.
"That is why I need all you to keep your eyes peeled. Some clubs may attempt aggressive strategy and disturb order. We had to give formal warning to four club last year. I hope we don't have to give any this year around."
At lunch, Dio was brought into the student council room. There, the student council and the moral committee had their joint briefing. Mayumi explained the whole situation to the newcomers. Dio listened to her while eating his lunch, a yakiniku set lunch from the cafeteria. For some reason, Mayumi kept stealing glances at Dio but looked away when Dio looked at her.
"That fierce huh…" Whispered Miyuki.
"Exactly. Some clubs just couldn't let a potential ace be snatched by other club. Well, in essence, they are no different from us—the student council. Sometimes their conflict got too hot and spiraled into chaos."
Mayumi tried to recall some of the events in her mind.
"There was an accident where a student assault another student with magic because they were fighting over a potential candidate who turned out not interested in both. The moral of the story is you all need to prepare for a fight. It doesn't happen often but just in case, you know? Don't forget to carry your CAD with you all the time."
Tatsuya raised his hand. "Wait a minute." He said. He looked confused. "The students are allowed to use CAD during this event?" He asked. Mayumi answered immediately.
"Yes. Not all of them are allowed. The permit only granted to magic clubs to demonstrate their activities."
"Isn't that dangerous…?" Asked Tatsuya again.
"To be honest, yeah but they are student of First High School after all. All students are expected to be on their best conduct. Besides, the school made some exception so we have the best member to attend the next Nine School Competition."
"So, the Nine School Competition is the real reason after all…" Said Tatsuya.
Mayumi felt embarrassed to admit it but she said, "Correct."
"Any magic restrictions for us?"
Mari answered Tatsuya question. "In theory, no. There are no restrictions on what magic you can use but it is advised not to use lethal magic under any circumstances if possible. You are responsible for your own action. You also need to remember the use of lethal magic could lead you to prison. Depending on your reason, the school might or might not protect you."
Mari's warning was stern but it was necessary. Magic could cost someone life. Uncontrolled emotion could lead a magician to disaster.
"… Crystal clear." Tatsuya nodded.
"Um, am I also allowed to use magic?" Dio asked the question because he was unsure. He was a guest member, an observer, not a permanent member.
"Yes. Actually, I am about to give you your assignment. Dio will patrol the schoolyard and the gymnasium. Tatsuya will patrol the school pond and the backyard. The other will patrol the usual route. Any more question?"
"Am I going to patrol alone?"
"Since this school is so huge, unfortunately you all have to patrol alone. Just call me or Mari if you encounter something you can't handle. I mean, most instructor will be at class or at their office. I guess we are your only hope if thing goes south."
"Got it…"
"Wait, you can also call Azusa if you're near her. She'll be patrolling the class' hallway. Azusa Bow is the best magic for riot-kind of situation."
"Azusa what…?" Asked Dio. He never heard of the magic. He thought it was some kind of new type Japanese magic or something.
"It is my magic…" Said Azusa in a small voice. She looked embarrassed.
"A-chan magic can make people calm. She can make this bow appear and shoot it. The psion wave emitted by that arrow can influence people to not disobey her."
Well, saying she influences people to not disobey her is softer than saying she influences people to obey her.
"So, a mental interference magic?" Asked Tatsuya.
There were four types of classification of modern magic based on its applications. It was:
Acceleration/Weighting.
Movement/Oscillation.
Convergence/Divergence.
Absorption/Emission.
There were exceptions like perception-type magic, typeless magic, and outer-system magic. Azusa's magic fell into the third exception, which was outer-system magic. It was a type of magic that did not target eidos (body of information) but rather the mental of someone. Most of outer-system magic were mental interference. This kind of magic was classified as forbidden in many countries regardless of the mastery or potency. It was basically a mind control. But some exceptions could be made, right?
"Technically, yes." Said Mari.
"Nakajou-senpai magic is not under class A restriction?"
"Well, the school was allowed to teach her how to master her power but the use is only allowed inside the school premises. She is prohibited to use her power outside the school."
Mari understood Tatsuya's concern regarding Azusa's magic. Her magic was classified as class A magic, the most dangerous magic class. She explained patiently about it. Azusa herself felt awkward the whole time. She looked down and play with her hair.
"I see…"
Tatsuya looked convinced.
"Right, Dio—"
She stopped talking midway.
"Hm?"
"N-never mind…"
What?
Mayumi ended the briefing when everything had been explained. No more questions from Dio. He wanted to ask about Mayumi behavior from before but she ran away.
After his afternoon class, Dio began his patrol.
"Dio, you seem to be enjoying yourself…" Said Erika with a blank face watching Dio eating every food sample he could acquire.
"Dwis one isf delifus too…" (This one is delicious too!) He said while stuffing his mouth with fresh baked cookies.
"Ooh, thank you for the praise~"
"What about this one?"
"How about you join our baking club? We also accept men, you know? They are good tasters."
"Gulp…"
Dio swallowed his cookies and backed down slowly. He could feel something sinister behind that cute smile. "Ladies, I am sorry but I have to continue my duty."
"Wha…"
"Wait!"
"Erika, let's run!"
Dio grabbed Erika's hand and ran without waiting for her to say anything. Erika did not resist because she was caught up by the atmosphere or maybe she panicked.
"Hahaha…" Dio laughed and stopped somewhere quite far from the baking club. He did not feel the slightest fatigue from all that running. Meanwhile, Erika was disoriented but not tired.
"Haa… Haa… Dio, I could run on my own you know…?"
Erika fixed her breathing and looked up to Dio. He was taller than Erika.
"Haha, sorry about that."
"Sigh… anyway, let's look other clubs while we are here."
"Sure. By the way, where is Mizuki and Leo? I thought you guys were together."
"Mizuki joined the art club and Leo joined the mountaineering club. Well, Mizuki invited me to join her but—"
"Not an artist huh?"
"Haha, right. What about you? Are you planning to join any club?"
"Not sure. This student council stuff already take much of my times. I am not sure I can handle another. I am the adventurous type after all."
"Not surprising…"
"I would like to try all the clubs one by one but I will be a bother that way. So, never mind me, what about you? Planning to join any club?"
"I don't know… I will see what catch my eyes."
Then, Dio remembered something. "What about kendo? I heard from Mari you're good with a sword."
She narrowed her eyes. "From her? How annoying. She should mind her own business." Whispered Erika.
"What? You got beef with her?"
Dio noticed how uncomfortable Erika was when he mentioned Mari.
"Never mind. What was your question again? Right, kendo. I've been playing with swords my whole life. I don't think I want to do the same here. I will pass on kendo."
"I see. You must be good…"
"Hoho? Curious? Maybe you will get to find out."
"Just don't slash me, okay?"
"Haha…" Erika made a fake laugh. "Oh, you said you are going to teach me that movement of yours. Don't think I forget." She said while smiling victorious.
Dio scratched his head. "Of course I haven't forget. Next Saturday, maybe? No guarantee and no refund though."
"Is it that hard?"
"It depends on your effort."
"Hmm." Erika was thinking. "How long did it take you to learn it?"
"One day. Maybe two…?"
"Can I learn it in two days?"
Dio looked down and started counting with his hand. "Historically speaking, no…"
"Historically? What do you mean?"
"I've taught several people. The best record was six months. Even then, she only managed to do the basic."
Erika looked flabbergasted. "How did you learn so fast? Wait, who developed this movement in the first place?"
"You're looking at him…"
"…" A genius is a genius after all. She thought within her heart. Erika had to admit that Dio movement was faster than her best technique. It was even better and more efficient than Mock Teleportation.
"Still willing to learn?" He smirked.
"You bet. One day you say? I will master it less than one day! Just you see."
Erika was determined. She thought if she could learn Hirenkyaku faster than Dio, she was better than a member of the family that thrown her away. She wanted to prove herself.
"Okay, so where will we meet up?"
"I guess my dojo is available on Saturday."
Dio knew the Chiba clan had a dojo but he asked anyway. "Your family have a—"
"Hey, you there!"
Before Dio finished talking, Erika was pulled away by a group of girls. They were fighting to get her. You could see no boy near Erika. Despite their racism, it seemed like most people still had decency. The boys watched from the back while the women fighting for trophy.
"You must join our club!"
"You can become our mascot if you want to."
"Hey, I saw her first!"
"Wha—where are you touching?! Dio help—"
Dio smiled and whispered, "Alright, alright."
He used Hirenkyaku to get near to Erika, grabbed her, and used Hirenkyaku again to move far away from the group of hungry girls. Everything went so fast it left other confused.
"Eh, where is she…?"
"But she was here, right?"
"Is she a ghost?!"
"Nope…"
After that unfunny joke by a boy, everyone dispersed from that place. Some still looked around to find Erika.
Meanwhile, Erika and Dio arrived behind the gymnasium.
"You okay?" Asked Dio.
Erika looked messy, especially her uniform. Her green blazer was opened and her white one-piece uniform was slid down, revealing a white cleavage. Her uniform was unable to hold Hirenkyaku heavy momentum. Dio offered his hand for Erika to stand but Erika looked at Dio like he was some kind of wild beast. She tidied her uniform very quickly and covered her body with her hands.
"D-did you see?"
"See what?"
"What? Don't pretend to be innocent. I know you saw my… b-breast…" She said that embarrassedly. Her face was red like rose. Her beautiful eyes stared at Dio expecting the truth.
"Ah, that…? Yeah, I kind of saw it. I mean, they are on my field of view."
"Ugh, you don't have to be such a jerk…" She whispered with almost teary eyes.
Only then Dio realized that place was Japan! That place was not Germany. After World War III, Japan turned back to being conservative in culture. Japan saw free sex as lewd and improper. Japanese culture is awesome! He thought carefully.
"I, I am sorry I just realized my action were improper. Back in Germany, most girls are half naked. Most of them wear sexy crop top or tank top." He tried to explain. "During summer anyway…" He added that unimportant fun fact.
"I see. So, you are used to it."
"You could say that."
Dio scratched his head. He was unsure how to explain better. Well, there was no denying he liked what he saw but he did not want to upset Erika.
"Hahaha. Just kidding!" Erika laughed and said what she said. "You should look at yourself at the mirror. You look really flustered."
That is my line. But Dio did not say that. "You got me." He said instead.
"Anyway, we should see the gymnasium! See what people are doing in there."
Erika walked in front of Dio, refusing to show her face.
When they arrived at the gymnasium (which was also an all purpose room), the kendo club was doing their demonstration. The building had been turned into a dojo. Students could watch the match from the ground floor or the first floor. Dio and Erika entered the ground floor.
"Dio, let's go upstairs to get a better look."
"Sure."
Both of them swam through the crowd and went to the first floor. That place was really crowded. Dio realized that clubs associated with violence had more spectator than other more peaceful clubs.
"Huh, isn't that Sayaka?" Asked Dio surprised.
"You know her?"
"Yeah, I met her in the city yesterday."
"Hmm, interesting." Teased Erika.
"What?"
"Nothing."
Both of them were looking at the girl on the middle of the stage. She wore a body armor and a helmet but Dio could easily recognized her. She was Mibu Sayaka, the same girl Dio saved last night. Sayaka looked firm on that stage. She was holding wooden katana. Her eyes focused on her opponent. Then, she moved. She stepped forward and slashed her opponent gracefully. Her movement was too fast for her opponent. Her opponent got knocked back in one move. Behind her slender body was a powerful swordswoman.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Y-yeah, I am fine."
Her opponent stood up and walked away. It was obvious he got embarrassed from losing, not to mention, to a girl. Sayaka opened her helmet after that match.
"Anyone else?" She asked cheerfully with a cute smile.
"She is good. Far better than when I saw her last time. Even so, her swordplay is fake. She was holding back the whole time."
Erika sounded angry. No, she sounded arrogant.
"Huh?"
"Her opponent was weaker than her and she knew. So, she held back. That was no kendo."
"Isn't that the point? To recruit member, not to annihilate them…"
"Hmph!"
Erika put out a grumpy face and grumbled.
"Oi, Mibu, it is our turn to use the stage now!"
"What are you talking about? Your turn is still one hour later. Kirihara-san, you should be patient."
"Mibu, this is not good." He shook his head. "You can't show the strength of the kendo club by fighting weakling. We were trying to help, you know? Especially since your club president is absent during this important moment." He continued while smirking the whole time.
"Kirihara-san, you are hurting our member. How is that supposed to help us? Are you trying to pick a fight?"
When Erika and Dio had their little discussion, Sayaka was fighting with a boy. The boy was tall and his face looked stern. He had a spiky hair like a hedgehog. He wore a hakama, traditional Japanese dress for samurai in the old days. On his right hand was the same wooden katana as Sayaka's. From the way he looked at Sayaka, it was as if he looked down at her.
"Interesting…" Erika muttered.
"You know him?"
"More like, I recognize him. Kirihara Takeaki, I believe. He was the winner of Middle School National Kenjutsu Tournament. He was quite good for a middle schooler."
Erika was talking as if she was far superior than Takeaki.
Kenjutsu was sword art combined with magic. It was no different from kendo but one also need to be proficient at magic to master it.
"Fine, I challenge you to a duel, Mibu. Don't worry, I will not use magic as this is your stage."
"Hahaha."
"Hahaha."
Takeaki mocked Sayaka but Sayaka remained calm. Her eyes stared at his eyes and replied. "Very well. I accept your challenge."
"Oh, this is going to be interesting." She stared at them with shining eyes. "Number one of Middle School National Kenjutsu Tournament versus number two of Middle School Girl National Kendo Tournament."
"I have a bad feeling about this." Said Dio instead.
"Begin!"
The fight started.
Takeaki swung down his katana at her head. Sayaka did not wear her helmet but neither did Takeaki. Sayaka easily evaded that swung at her head. She stepped aside and started her counter strike. Sayaka swung her katana from below targeting Takeaki's stomach and it hit.
"Ugh!"
"That is one…" She said calmly.
Takeaki seemed more agitated.
"Hyaa…!"
He swung his katana again and again but none managed to land a hit. Sayaka was faster than him or rather more agile. Her movement was graceful compared to him. He stepped aside and back down when necessary, attacked when the time was right. This was a one sided match. Sayaka was winning this match.
The crowd yelped and cheered from the sideline. Their attention was focused at the two. This match was different from all of the previous match they had seen. This one was a real duel.
"You said she was second…?" Asked Dio. "Hell, I am guessing you got the first place."
"What? No…" Erika was as shocked as Dio. "She was not this good. Like, she was good but not this good."
Strikes after strikes, Sayaka hit Takeaki so many times that she lost count.
"Kirihara-san, you have lost…" Said Sayaka. The onlookers nodded at her words. Looking at their fight was obvious. Takeaki gritted his teeth and looked around. He could feel it, they were whispering at him. His pride could not let him be defeated.
"I lost? Hahaha!" He laughed like a madman. "There is no way I lost to a weed like you." She shouted at Sayaka, eyes bulging. Sayaka was silent. She prepared herself for the worse with a defensive stance. "Now, the real fight begin!" He shouted and activated a magic.
With only a handful of people noticing, Takeaki silently reached his bangle to activate his magic. Many could recognized his magic.
It was Sonic Blade, B-Rank oscillation-type lethal magic. It was a simple magic but could only be used in specific situation without mastery. This magic purpose was to make an object vibrate at a very high frequency. The object itself would let out ultrasonic waves. This ultrasonic waves made the people around it dizzy or nauseous. Some student already started running when Takeaki activated their magic. Some closed their mouth because they felt nauseous.
Bang!
Takeaki swung down his katana at her head again but Sayaka jumped back to dodge. His katana made contact with the floor, destroying a little part of it and sending another ultrasonic waves.
"Kya!"
"Kirihara, the fuck are you doing?"
"Run!"
It was chaotic. Many students tried to run away while other tried to stop Takeaki but hesitated. They were obliged to turn in their CAD before class. So, most of them did not bring their CAD. There was no way a normal human could win a fight against a magician.
"Dio, I think you should handle this!" Said Erika. She panicked a bit as well.
"Right. I hate violence the most…" He said with an expressionless face. Dio jumped onto the railing and used Hirenkyaku.
"Take this, Mibu!"
Takeaki raised his sword again to swung down. Sayaka was at a disadvantage. She had no CAD on her as well. After all, kendo was about pure swordsmanship. CAD was not necessary for this club.
Kuh!
Sayaka was not confident she could dodge this one. Maybe she could but most definitely not unscathed. She prepared herself for the worst.
Bang!
A loud sound of impact reverberated across the building. In front of Sayaka was a boy a little bit taller than her. His back looked wide like an iron wall, protecting her. From her angle, she could see a serious expression on his face.
Dio… Whispered her heart.
"Wha…?"
Takeaki was shocked as well as confused. He thought that his katana managed to hit Sayaka. The person in front of him was no longer Sayaka but a boy of his age. The boy raised his right elbow to block the attack. Takeaki knew the boy. Dio Rosen, the rumored transfer student from Germany. His friends told him that Dio had a blonde hair. He was the only person to have a natural blonde hair at school.
Tang!
Tang!
His katana and magic, a magic that should have been able to cut through steel was shattered. He could not believe his eyes. There was no way that could happen. Even Data Fortification magic would have a hard time blocking his attack, let alone shatter his katana.
Bam!
"Guh!"
Before Takeaki could understand the situation, Dio punched him with his two hands at the same time. That punch flew Takeaki to the wall behind him like a ragged doll.
Bang!
His body hit the wall making a loud noise. The impact cracked the wall a little as well as his bones. There was no doubt that his ribs and other bones got fractured. One would think he was dead at the moment of impact but Dio knew how to hold back. Indeed, he was holding back. He never intended to kill Takeaki. That was going to far even for a cold blooded murderer like him. He only wanted to teach him a little lesson, a lesson that he would never forget for the rest of his life.
Dio combined Data Fortification to enhance his physical traits and Blut Vene to boost it even more. Data Fortification itself was a basic magic to fortify the eidos of something. It was usually used to defend against magic because that something would be harder for magic to penetrate. But it could be used to enhance the hardness of an object as well. Dio used both to fortify his eidos and to enhance his physical strength. Meanwhile, Blut Vene was a quincy technique to enhance durability. It could even hold against a captain's Bankai. Blut Vene could be achieved by manipulating reishi through the blood vessels of the user.
That loud noise made everyone silent. They looked at the source of the noise. Over there laid Kirihara Takeaki, motionless like a dead man. Some of his limbs were in positions it should not be for a normal human.
"Takeaki…"
Most of them became afraid of Dio or that situation in general. Even Takeaki so called friend was frozen in place. They were shaking. He was their leader after all. They were not confident they could defeat Dio. They looked at Dio in fear. One of them fell to the ground while pointing at Dio.
"Anyone else?" Asked him calmly.
"Y-you killed Takeaki!" Said one of the guys.
"No, I am good at holding back. He is still breathing." Said Dio. "That is why if any of you want to go at me, I will welcome you any time." He continued. Dio cracked his knuckles while staring at them. None of them dared to fight Dio.
So, the chaos ended there.
Everyone went on their own way, Takeaki was taken to the hospital, and Dio was called to the student council office. Dio stood in the middle of that spacious room. In front of him were three people; Saegusa Mayumi, Watanabe Mari, dan Juumonji Katsuto. Katsuto was a big guy with good build. He was even bigger than Leo. Katsuto looked like an armored tank. One could see his muscle even with the uniform. He was present because Katsuto was the president of the clubs committee. This event was largely his responsibility. Everyone looked at Dio with various expression. Mayumi looked confused, Mari looked judging, while Katsuto looked serious. They wanted answer from Dio.
"Remind me again how everything started." Said Mari.
"I was looking at the kendo club demonstration at the time. At first, everything seemed to be going well without any trouble. Mibu Sayaka was doing the demonstration. Then, Kirihara Takeaki came. They were fighting over the stage even though the kendo club still had one hour left. Eventually, Takeaki challenged Sayaka to a kendo duel. Basically, no magic was used. Takeaki was losing the match and activated sonic blade to harm Sayaka. I intervened and the rest was history..."
"..."
"..."
Everyone went quiet again.
There was nothing wrong with stopping the fight. Their concern was his harsh punishment towards Kirihara Takeaki. He was taken to a hospital in a critical condition. Most bones in his body were fractured. Some of his internal organ also got damaged from the impact. It was a miracle he was still alive. His parents were called and they cried on the hospital, asking the school to take responsibility.
"Was there no other way to stop Takeaki other than crushing his whole body?"
Mari asked the question with a serious tone.
"I have yet to master such convenient magic."
"But why punched him? I mean, you could just rip his CAD."
"He was moving erratically. I was afraid I would rip his hand instead."
"..."
Mari went silent.
"Say, Dio. Do you think you did the right thing?" Asked Mayumi.
"Yes. I might have used too much force but this will teach them a good lesson."
"Violence is not the answer."
"Of course. That is precisely what I taught him."
"..."
This time, Mayumi said nothing.
"You know his parents ask for the school's responsibility, right? The police might come to investigate. What do you say about that?"
"If they want Takeaki in prison, sure. The last time I read the rules, lethal magics are forbidden and punishable by law if used without good reason. I used simple magic to protect everyone. Not sure if the rules have changed since then."
"I see. You are very good at talking, Dio Rosen." Said Juumonji Katsuto. Even his presence alone was intimidating. The Juumonji clan was one of the Ten Master Clan along with the Saegusa Clan. The Juumonji clan owned a construction company in partnership with the Japanese Ministry of Defense but what made them recognized as one of the Ten Master Clan was their magic. The Juumonji clan was an expert in defensive magic. Their defenses were notorious to be impenetrable bar some very specific magic.
"Did I say something wrong, Katsuto?"
"... No." He said after pondering for a while.
"Simple magic, you say? Basic Data Fortification cannot produce such destructive effect."
Mari made the comment.
"I am good at it." Dio smirked.
"Haah..."
They realized they would get nothing out of his mouth.
"Last question from me." Said Mayumi. "Why didn't you do the same to Morisaki-kun back then?"
"To me, there is a difference between thought and action. Morisaki have yet to use his magic. I managed to arrive on time to stop him back then. Meanwhile, Takeaki already used lethal magic when I saw him. You could put that blame on me, sure. I should have stopped him in time but there were so many people blocking the way."
Dio explained his reason. Of course, he could just use his terrifying aura to paralyze Takeaki but there was risk. He did not want to reveal everything about him. This could potentially put Sternritter operation at risk. At least, not until he acquired more powerful Schrift. Besides, he really hoped for Takeaki and his friends to be better from the punch. This was the least risky move to enforce peace.
"I see. I understand your reason and approve your action but I still think you are going to far. I will handle his parent." Said Juumonji.
"Understood."
Dio nodded his head in approval.
"You are dismissed then. Please be more careful next time. Also, I need to talk to you later." Said Mayumi suddenly.
"Not now…?"
"This is personal."
Mayumi blushed a little. She looked embarrassed.
Dio thought for a moment. "Okay. I will wait outside."
"Thanks."
Dio walked outside and leaned to the wall, waiting for Mayumi. He pulled out his terminal to play games. Ten minutes later, she came out.
"Hey there. Sorry I took a long time."
"It is okay. So, what is it?"
"Um, it's like this…" Whispered Mayumi. She looked down instead of looking at Dio, playing with her own fingers. "Are you free on Saturday evening? My father wants to have a dinner with us."
"Huh, your father?"
Her father name was Saegusa Kouichi, one of the most influential person in Japan. Of course, as a magician as well because of his heritage. The Saegusa clan was one of the most influential clans in Japan. However, their influence did not come from their magic power but their connection. The Saegusa clans produced magician with exceptional latent talent in modern magic but they had no noteworthy magic. Dio guessed that Kouichi wanted to make connections with himself.
Mayumi panicked a little. "It's not what you think, okay? Anyway, he wants to celebrate your arrival. I know it's late but better than never, right? We have reserved a German restaurant in Shibuya. So, what do you think?" Asked her with a lot of expectations.
"Free food? Sure." He said, smiling.
"So that's what interests you…"
"Hm?"
"Saturday evening! Seven o'clock sharp. Don't forget."
When Mayumi was about to leave, Dio stopped her. "Hold on. Let me add your contact number. I will call you on Saturday."
"Sure!"
She looked cheerful again.
Sorry for the lack of upsate. My vacation was over a week ago. So, I have less time to write.
Anyway, Mahouka speed is inconsistent. Statements from the novel:
1. The novel said Heavy Metal Burst's beam moves at the speed of light but explains again that the speed of light is about a hunderd times the speed of sound.
2. There is also this feat about Heavy Metal Burst's beam; 60 meters were covered in 2 millisecond, the beam should approximately moves at 30,000 m/s or Mach 88.16.
3. The fastest magic in Mahouka is the Baryon Lance which moves at 10,000 km/s or 3,3% speed of light. Actual speed of light is around 300,000 km/s. No one can dodge this magic in Mahouka.
I just want to say that Dio will eventually have the faster speed via Yhwach feats. I am just trying to be faithful to both novel settings.
Cheers.
