He was sure he had gone to sleep peacefully last night, lying comfortably in his bed without any kind of problem, but if he remembered all of that perfectly it left the question of how he ended up in what seemed to be darkness on all sides. Another thing he noticed as well was his visible lack of a body, it was as if he was simply floating or the darkness was so intense that he could not see his body.
If this is a prank, the person who pulled this off deserved an award. However, before he could think more about his situation, a holographic blue screen appeared in front of him.
[Welcome to the gamer system!]
[You are one of the few chosen to host the powerful gamer system, to understand better, you ended up dying peacefully from cardiac arrest, and however your death was a mistake that should not have happened yet. Therefore, you cannot be sent back to your world, but in return, you will receive your own multiverse to explore and do whatever you want without affecting or being able to return to your previous world.]
Okay... this is getting more and more weird and interesting at the same time, sure dying is somewhat bad, but I am not going to complain with what offered...although I miss everyone I knew before.
[Let us get started shall we? Your name has already been preset, so let us continue, which gender do you want?]
[Male.] [Female.]
Without even hesitating, I clicked on male, or as close to disembodied as possible. I was a man before so I will continue to be one, thank you very much.
Immediately the screen disappeared and another one reappeared, this one with one loading three dots into it. Soon the screen changed to an expressionless male blank doll.
[Your gender has been defined, now it is time to create your avatar. Good luck!]
[Ps: Selected characteristics cannot be changed afterwards.]
I frowned at the information; this was going to take a while.
(Some time later.)
I take a deep breath before analyzing the body in front of me, it was fun to create the character, but it would not be something I would ever want to do again.
The character in front of me looked a little young, lightly muscled like a swimmer and measuring 5'10", skin I opted for having Caucasian skin with a light tan. The hair was very dark black and spiky, also the eyes brown, I ended up preferring to leave him with a more 'robust' expression with a slightly full face.
[Are you sure, you want to use this character?]
[Yes.] [No.]
I immediately hit 'Yes' and the next moment I blink and see myself in the body, I had just made. I took a few scared steps back looking down at my hands with wide eyes before jerking my head around in surprise before starting to touch my face in shock.
"That… it is weird, but ok, I have a body again and that is what matters." I comment with a sigh before blinking in surprise when a new screen appears.
[All right, your character is done and your adventure will start soon, first, which universe do you intend to go to? Be aware that you can only leave the first world after completing its main quest.]
[Highschool DxD] [Pokémon] [Digimon] [Random world.] [Game of Thrones] [Naruto] [Bleach] [Dragon ball Z] [Star Wars] [Overlord]
Seeing the options I immediately discarded DxD, Star wars, Naruto, Bleach, G.O.T and DBZ, despite being able to level up very quickly, the chance of ending up dead at the beginning was very high and I really had no interest in becoming a servant of either Rias or Sona. Looking at the other options, I am tempted to start with Pokémon and Digimon, they are relatively childish and would have very powerful allies, but it would not be good at first, it would get lazy and leave the heavy lifting to my pokémons or digimons.
Overlord... if it were the game it would be cool to have a dark tower, but I should keep the power, something that really wouldn't be possible at my current level, now the anime... I would probably have to redo the character and I am not in the mood to do this. With a sigh I look at what is left, it was somewhat obvious that it would be a random world. I probably would not have the slightest control over it. However, where was the fun in knowing where it was going to go and having plans underneath plans?
I gave a light laugh before clicking on the option, with that the darkness around me started to disappear before I felt the water around me.
Slightly surprised, I look around and see myself in a bathroom identical to the one in several animes. I blink in surprise before leaning back in the tub letting out a satisfied sigh as another screen appears.
[The characterization of the character is not over yet! It's time for the fun part!]

[Find out how to use the gamer system]
[Rewards: 1,000 XP, +100 Credits, +1 random advantages/disadvantages.]
I could not help blinking, but it was not the time to retreat now, it was already here, so it was good to end it all, after all, a unique skill always comes in handy.
"Status" I thought calmly, if this was like any gamer fic I have ever read, then that is probably how it worked.
I had to hold back a smile as a new screen appeared in front of me.
[Name: Gale Inugami.]
[Gender: Male.]
[Level: 01 (000/100 XP)]
[Age: 17 years old.]
[Moral: Neutral.]
[Credits: 100,000.][Store.]
[HP (Health.) = 100]
[SP (Stamina) = 100]
[MP (Mana) = 100]
[Races]
[Titles]
[Classes]
[Statistics]
[Skills]
[Advantages/Disadvantages]
"Seriously? Gale? Like the shipp of Gajeel and Levy? It's not so bad though." I think looking at my name before turning to the rest of the screen.
At first it looked like a screen like the others, but then I noticed that in the upper corner there was an inventory and a character, I clicked on the first one and only saw several empty squares, with that I went to the other one where I found myself with nothing equipped. However, something that caught my eye was the way the 'Classes' button looked different from the others, so I clicked on it.
Immediately another screen appeared.
[Attention: The classes only released at level 10.]
I raised my eyebrow at the warning, but I just shrugged, I could probably wait until level 10, especially considering that to level up I only need 100 XP and with that, I went to another button that caught my attention, the store.
Clicking on it immediately a screen with a list appeared in front of me.
[Welcome to the store, first you must spend some of your credits on the advantages/disadvantages, 2 of each. Which cannot be reset.]
I nodded at that, it is fair enough considering everything is never good a game too easy, I quickly looked through the list and a drawback caught my eye, mainly because it's the cheapest of all on the list, so I bought it straight away.
[Purchased a disadvantage. – The Sin of Greed.]
[Sin of Greed. – You are never satisfied, always wanting more and more. Gaining XP gets harder. Max XP capacity increases by x10.]
[-5,000 Credits.]
Anger soon welled up in my chest when I saw the experience cap required increase from 100 XP to the 1000 XP required to level up.
"Damn… that still seems like a lot, I need to figure out how I can earn more credits fast." I mutter to myself before blinking slightly in surprise.
"Geez, if this is how these things work; I should be careful which ones I choose next." I reflect by looking at the message before returning to the shop.
I stay there for a few moments until I select what is left to receive the screens.
[Purchased a advantage. - Mana Pool.]
[Mana reserve. – Naturally born with the gift of magic increases your magic reserves. Gains x 10 MP bonus.]
[-10,000 Credits.]
[Purchased a disadvantage. – Intimidating.]
[Intimidating - Your presence frightens others, causes 'fear' in anyone you meet. Gains -5 AFFECTION or REPUTATION on any individual and +5 OBEDIENCE.]
[-15,000]
[Purchased a advantage. - Genius Prodigy.]
[Genius Prodigy - You are smart, you know it, and you are not afraid to use your knowledge. Gains x2 INT bonus.]
[-15,000]
With that done, I cannot help but frown at how much I spent; now I must only have 55,000 credits, now I have to figure out how to get more credits... Damn I should not have bought that handicap.
However, I soon realized that now the gamer system store was on with everything now released for purchase. I immediately feel the urge to keep looking at what is available, but I quickly leave that page.
I must be very careful with the disadvantage I got.
Quickly I turn my attention to the other options available, still to see 'Races', 'Stats' and 'Skills'. However, there something that was bothering me, I should be here for a long time even though it was another reality, and someone should have noticed my absence.
At this, I get up grabbing a towel, wrapping it around me, with that I try to open the door; however, the handle does not seem to move as I try to open it. I frowned at this before another screen appeared in front of me.
[Warning: While using the gamer system, time will stop across the universe while the player finishes their settings.]
That... explained why no one came, but it still looked bad, since if it did I could always win any battle just by opening my status.
[A game is only fun when it has enough difficulty, a challenge, when the gamer system is pausing the universe, the player cannot interact with any being or material in possession of another being.]
Fair enough.
I give an amused little snort rolling my eyes before clicking 'Stats'.
[Statistics:]
[STR:] 15
[RES:] 15
[DEX:] 15
[INT:] 15 (x2)= 30
[LUC:] 15
[CHA:] 15
[Points to use: 0]
Interesting, if I am reading this correctly, it means that each of these stats influence my character, but how they would do that left me in doubt, however I soon widen my eyes with an idea appearing in my head. Strength, Resistance, Dexterity, Intelligence, Luck, and Charm are typically the most common types of stats among RPGs, so it should be the same here.
[For logical and obvious thinking, the player gained +1 INT]
I could feel the sarcasm just reading the message; the system was a jokester, good to know. However, one thing that had made me very curious was that of races, could I be something other than a human? Perhaps a humanoid dragon? On the other hand...
I immediately shook my head, that handicap was showing itself again; I ignored my previous thoughts and clicked on 'races'.
[Races:]
[Human: Adapts with some difficulty to any environment, has no weaknesses but also no special advantages, keeps the player hidden from the eyes of others until reaching level 10.]
Okay... that is a little more disappointing than I thought it would be so I closed the tab and went to skills.
[Skills:]
[Observe (001/100) - Allows the player to see information about their target.]
It was just one skill that came from the system itself; the most basic of them all. It will not stay like this for long, I need more, much more, I will reach the maximum of each one, become the most powerful of all and... Gosh, that downside was really going to be a pain to deal with.
I let out an irritated sigh at that, it would probably get in my way later, but I already have that trait, so life goes on. I just have to control myself and make some goal to keep me focused, when I do that I will go after something else.
Before I could delve deeper into my thoughts, a screen appeared in front of me.
[Mission: Tutorial (Completed!)]
[Find out how to use the gamer system]
[Rewards: 1,000 XP, +100 Credits, +1 random advantage/disadvantage.]
[+1,000 XP]
[Acquired a advantage. – Familiar Perk.]
[Familiar Perk - You have a gift with creatures and animals, why have just one familiar when you can have several? Gains +5 CHA. Each time the familiar's bond increases, the player gains +100 XP.]
[Level up! 1 – 2 (0,000/2,000 XP)]
[Gain +10 Stats points.]
[Gain +5 points to a character bar.]
[HP][SP][MP]
I blink surprised by the messages and relieved that I received an advantage, if had been a disadvantage I can only imagine my headache. Anyway, I must be careful with my next missions if they come with more of these rewards. However, now I have to choose carefully what I will put five more points on, but I do not have any information on how it influences me yet, so I will choose the one that may be more important later.
I quickly click on HP.
The screen suddenly disappears and I let out a relieved sigh, finally being able to do something more normal, with that, I leave the bathroom and find myself in a simple room with some posters of well-known franchises from my world. I walk a little way before stopping in front of the locker, opening it quickly before looking at the Japanese school uniform, one I do not recognize.
"Ah… I have no idea where this uniform is… Ok, I can work with it… I just have to find out which anime it is." I murmur before starting to put on the uniform. It was in this moment a new screen appeared.
[New quest received!]
[Mission: First Day of School!]
[You're in "?" and needs to arrive on time at Sugisawa's school. Have your breakfast and go to school.]
[Rewards: +1000 XP, +1000 Credits, ?]
... Sugisawa? From what anime is this school? Although the name sounds familiar, I cannot remember exactly where I remember it. Is there time to switch to Pokémon?
[Too late, find a way!]
"Shit, I should have known." I mutter to myself before leaving my room.
With that I quickly noticed that I live in an apartment alone, which makes me raise an eyebrow, because despite what is shown in various anime it is unlikely that the government or any kind of adult would let a teenager live alone on their own. Again... I am in an anime and some just do not have logic.
[For understanding the new reality, the player gained +5 INT]
Ignoring the message, I head to the kitchen before quickly looking through what is available before grabbing a juice and a couple of toasts. As soon as I sat down and prepared the food, a new screen appeared.
[As you knew how to do other things before the game, as you redo them, the skills will adjust accordingly.]
[Skill regained! – Proficiency in Cooking]
[Cooking Proficiency (006/100) – Allows the player to cook a variety of foods.]
[Player gained +150 XP]
[Whenever the player manages to raise a level of any skill, he gains +25 XP.]
With a nod, the screens disappear giving me time to actually finish my coffee and with that I leave the apartment. Once outside though I freeze staring into space, when a thought occurs to me.
Where is this school?
(Scene break.)
Gale looked bored at a teacher who was escorting him into a classroom, apparently the player just transferred to that school. He had arrived early, but told to wait to be introduced into the new class.
"School…wasn't something I was looking forward to seeing again, but if it helps me figure out what world I'm in, I'll take every opportunity that comes along…" muses Gale before a new screen appears in front of you.
[Mission: First day of school! (Completed)]
[You're in "?" and needs to arrive on time at Sugisawa High School. Have your breakfast and go to school.]
[Rewards: +1,000 XP, Acquired Title: Student.]
[Acquired title: Student.]
[Student - You go to school, study and learn, did no more than your duty, get a x2 bonus to STR, RES, DEX, and INT.]
As he looked at the screen, Gale smirked, this made most of his stats around 30, but he needed to know how much it influenced his game compared to a normal person. With that, he turned to the teacher in front of him.
"Observe." Command the boy causing the screen in front of him to disappear and another replace her.
[Name: ?]
[Gender: Male.]
[Level: 06]
[Age: 45 years old.]
[Moral: Kind.]
[FOR: 15]
[RES: 15]
[DEX: 15]
[INT: 75]
[LUC: 16]
[CHA: 20]
When looking at his stats, Gale nods as he dismisses the screen, so the default was to be 15 points in each of the stats while the others adjusted. However, there was something that irritated Gale, the luck of the teacher in front of him was higher than his and he wanted to increase his luck, now came the question of how to do that.
Suddenly they stop in front of a door making the professor ask Gale to wait a bit, something the boy nods without much enthusiasm as he begins to try to form a plan for how to increase his stats and abilities, in addition to trying to figure out what is the world he in.
The boy stood there for half a minute before the teacher called him over.
"Class, this is our new classmate, Gale Inugami, would you like to introduce yourself?" asks the professor.
However, Gale did not answer as he stared wide-eyed at his class, or rather one of his new classmates: Setsuko Sasaki. He only recognizes her because he had liked her when she appeared in the first episode and manga issue, but if she was here, that only meant one thing.
"Shit, 'Jujutsu Kaisen' was definitely a world I wanted to avoid until later…Fuck you gamer system." He curses Gale before calming down and turning to the professor.
"No." Grumbles Gale still irritated with what he discovered.
[For discovering, the world you sent to, the player gains +1 INT!]
[For urgently needing help, the player gains +5 LUK.]
Gale just sat silently with his brow twitching in his annoyance; he was going to figure out how to survive in this world.
