"Lily Potter you put that down."
James walked into the room to find his very pregnant wife balancing two trays of pumpkin pastries in her arms as she hobbled over to the buffet table. Lily just blew a strand of hair from her eyes as she continued to hobble, unaided, to the table where James had already loaded plates with chicken, beef, tarts, cakes, and little candies.
"I'm pregnant, not broken, James." Lily hummed as she placed one tray on the table. "The trick is not to drop them."
She was following with the second tray, but it tipped too far inward on her arm, bounced off her large belly, and pumpkin pastries fell to the floor.
James snorted humorously from the doorway as Lily stared down at the pastries sadly, "the trick is not to drop them, eh?"
"Shut up."
James watched his wife attempt a squat and he took pity on her, rushing forward to start picking up pumpkin pastries from around her swollen ankles. Lily stopped trying to bend down immediately, looking relieved that he was helping pick them up. James looked up as he was placing pastries, adoring her face as he did so.
Lily spotted him ogling and flushed like a schoolgirl, "what?"
"Nothing pumpkin," he chortled, showing one of the pumpkin shaped pastries too her, "just admiring you."
"Me and my pumpkin sized belly?"
"I do think it's rather large this time around," James finished stacking the pastries and stood up with the plate in both arms, "with Harry you weren't nearly as wide as you are now."
Lily patted her stomach, "this little girl just keeps growing."
"Yes, she does." James carried the pastries into the kitchen, throwing the plate on the counter to chuck out.
That's when Lily walked by and he caught a good look at her arse in her skin tight muggle dress. Lily glanced back to say something, caught him looking, and made a face.
"Do you ever keep your eyes to yourself?" She asked as she started rolling out more pastry dough. "Though, you rarely keep your hands to yourself. It's how I ended up pregnant in the first place."
James chuckled and came around her, wrapping his arms around her, resting his palms on her belly. "You're just so hot."
"Right now?"
"Every day."
Lily answered with a disbelieving snort, "James, I currently look like Vernon Dursley's sister."
James was shocked at the blasphemy, "you are not even comparable to that grotesque woman."
"Hm," but she was smiling now because he was nibbling on her earlobe and kissing her neck, "the guests will be here soon."
"We've made enough food to serve an army." He licked and then sucked at her pulse point, making her entire body freeze up. "Sirius has Harry for another half hour, the party doesn't start until quarter to five. Think of what we could do in that time."
Lily dropped the rolling pin, turned her head and caught him by the mouth. James grinned happily against her as the rolling pin fell to the floor.
"The trick is not to drop it," he breathed through steamy kisses.
Lily pushed him back towards their bedroom, "shut up."
