This is just a one shot story which takes place a few days after Terry Silver gets arrested and Danny and Johnny learn the news of Kreese's escape which showed on most of the tv news reports in the Valley, Sam's former nemesis; Tory Nichols receives a visit at her apartment from someone she didn't expect. Disclaimer: I don't own Cobra kai characters. but I chose to write this as a tribute to a beloved tv Drama on Netflix.
Tory's apartment.
Its been at least three or four days, since that night at the Encino Dojo where Terry Silver's bribing the ref was exposed and his Cobra Kai Empire was brought down, the news reported that Terry Silver was responsible for a series of crimes including assault, bribery and attempted murder as well as Arson and destruction of public property but the last two charges weren't proven without any evidence.
Now Tory Nichols was spending the day at her apartment, cleaning up the apartment with her little brother Brandon's help whilst her bedridden Mom was resting. Mrs Nichols was managing to stay alive despite her dialysis not getting any better, but she was still fighting thanks to the volunteer nurse who was helping her daughter.
Having seen the state of her sister's right hand which was still red from breaking a stone dummy at the Dojo, Brandon chose to stop playing with his toys to help his sister clean up the house. Once she got all the empty take-out boxes and cereal boxes into the trash bag and wrapped it up, Tory took the bag out of the bins. She was halfway towards the front door, about to go outside to take the rubbish bag to the dumpster when she heard a knock on the door.
Tory turned to Brandon. "Go to the next room." she said to Brandon.
Brandon went off to the next room before Tory went to the door to find out who was there.
Looking through the door eyehole, Tory thought that it was the landlord or her former Sensei Kreese looking for a place to hide out from the police.
But to her surprise, it was Mr Larusso himself who was standing outside her door holding a bag in his hand.
Answering the door she spoke. "Mr Larusso, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to drop in to see how you were since you were the one who helped my daughter lead the Miyagi do students on this mission to expose Cobra kai."
"Mr Larusso, it was nothing. I just wanted to get payback on Terry Silver." Tory replied.
Daniel lowered his head in thought as he thought the same thing she did. "I can understand that, but I still wanted to thank you personally for what you did a few nights ago. My daughter Sam told me that you worked together with her to bring down Terry Silver. It took a lot of guts to do what you did." Daniel
"Tory, who is it?" Tory's mom called out. Tory turned her head and was about to answer but Daniel spoke first.
"It's okay Mrs Nichols, my name is Daniel Larusso. I just dropped by because I wanted to know if Tory needed some help."
Tory then spoke out. "Mr Larusso I appreciate the offer but I don't need any more sympathy from anyone especially you, your wife already helped me with my mom and I've kept my end of the bargain."
"Understandably, but from the look of your right hand I could tell that it wasn't a training accident." Daniel said gesturing to her right hand.
Tory hid her bruised bandaged hand behind her back in defence.
"Look don't pretend that you know the whole story about what happened to me, Mr Larusso. Okay?" said Tory.
"Hey, I'm not pretending. Because believe it or not, Terry Silver was my sensei. He had me do something similar to what you did when I was in Cobra Kai. That is if that's what happened." Hearing that reply from Mr Larusso, Tory was caught off guard by the fact that the owner of a car dealership and practising Miyagi do sensei was once a part of the same dojo she trained in.
Daniel saw the surprise on her face, so he was about to step back from her. He was about to turn and walk back to his car when Tory spoke stepping out of her doorway. "Wait, you were a former Cobra kai student?"
Daniel paused thinking about his past for a few seconds before he looked up at Tory and answered.
"I was, back in 1985." Tory started to feel guilty for turning away his offer to help, so she spoke. "Do you want to come in Mr Larusso?" Daniel looked down as if thinking for a few seconds when he looked back at her and spoke. "Yeah and if you don't mind, I could help you take out your garbage." he added walking up to Tory who nodded to him and went back inside with Daniel following her in.
Stepping inside the apartment, he looked around the place which wasn't too bad. It reminded him of the apartment he lived in when he was Tory's age, he saw the open door of Mrs Nichols' room where Tory's mom was in her bed. He didn't want to intrude any further on Tory's place, so he placed his bag on the table and helped Tory carry a bag to the dumpster.
After taking the garbage out, Tory went back into the apartment whilst Daniel came in and sat on the chair beside the couch.
"I'm sorry that I don't have much hospitality to offer but all I can offer you is a glass of water." said Tory.
"Thanks but I'm okay, why don't you take a seat and I can tell you about my time in Cobra Kai." Daniel responded kindly declining her offer.
"Well in that case I'll just get two glasses of water just in case. So how long were you in Cobra kai for?" Tory said before heading to the kitchen area to get two glasses out.
"It was for a short period. I was going through some things before I joined Cobra Kai. I just won my first all valley and my mentor Mr Miyagi didn't want me to compete anymore. He never really liked the idea of fighting for trophies in the first place." Daniel explained.
"That's a shame, 'cause I wanted to win the all-valley karate competition more than anything. So that when I look at that trophy, I can know that I was best at something." Tory explained as she brought a glass to Daniel and gave it to him before she turned away to go back for her glass. "I can see what you're going through. I wanted to defend my title as the all-valley champion after I won."
"So what happened between you and this guy Miyagi?" Tory asked turning to look at Daniel who sat back quietly in thought. When Tory came back with a glass of water in her left hand, she saw the look on Mr Larusso's face which was a look of regret and sadness. Tory took a sip of water from her glass before Daniel answered.
"Well, Terry Silver happened, the man popped out of the blue with this phoney story of Kreese being dead and a fake apology."
Daniel then started telling his story, his mind flashing back to his first meeting with Terry when he pretended to be his friend. "He pretended to be my friend and showed me a few moves he learned, but he also sent a karate practitioner named Mike Barnes and two goons to terrorize me and Mr Miyagi and force me to compete at the tournament.
We soon got into a big fight over my decision to compete and I wound up joining Cobra Kai with Terry Silver as my sensei. He taught me to strike first, strike hard and show no mercy. He even taught me his "Quicksilver method" Unfortunately by using it, I sustained some injuries in breaking a wooden dummy, and I even went home with bleeding knuckles. Worse of all, his method brought out an aggressive part of me that left me horrified at what I had become."
Tory looked down at her right bruised hand as if the pain started to come back.
Seeing no reason to hide it anymore, Tory spoke out. "It was a stone dummy; Terry Silver and Sensei Kim forced me to break a stone slab with my fist. It was a punishment for not taking part in the Sekai Tekai tryouts, I knew it was rigged like the all-valley tournament was, so I dropped out of the rematch with your daughter and I paid the price because of my actions."
Daniel looked at Tory's face as she was trying to hold back her tears when he remembered the same powder that Mr Miyagi used for him. "You did the right thing Tory and I appreciate it. What if I have something that can help heal your bruised hand?"
Tory looked at Mr Larusso like he was just selling a joke but seeing that he was serious, she became curious to know what help he might do for her.
"What is it that you have to heal my hand, some silly Miyagi trick?" she asked Mr Larusso. But he just raised his glass of water to his mouth and drank from the glass before he stood up from his seat and went to the kitchen.
Tory watched him walk off confused when he went to the kitchen.
He next cleaned the glass and dried it before placing it on the side, once he left the kitchen Mr Larusso came back to stand in front of Tory who watched him come to her. "I'll tell you what, you come to Miyagi Do karate when you're free this weekend and I can take you for an X-ray to see if there are any broken bones. if there isn't then I can boil up some powder and hot water to soak your hand in." Daniel proposed to Tory.
Reaching into his pocket, he took out a piece of paper with a written address on it and handed it to her.
"And if there's anything you might need from Larusso auto group like a job, I can offer you a place and training as well. You can just call the office and ask for Mr Larusso."
Tory held the piece of paper in her hand, flattered by Mr Larusso's offer as she looked at the written address. She placed her glass down as she looked up at Mr Larusso and spoke. "I'll think about it but can I ask how is Sensei Joe?"
"If you're talking about Sensei Joe, then I should tell you his real name is Sensei Chozen Toguchi. He's in the hospital after fighting against Terry Silver but he's doing fine, he told me about his training session with you. He remembered how you were a natural-born fighter who fights for what is yours." Daniel remarked which made Tory grin at that compliment.
"Yeah, Chozen; if that's his name, he gave me some useful teachings to overcome my problems. I wish I could train under his way so I can win a championship and defend what's mine." said Tory.
"That's what I used to do when I fought in the tournament, well I'm gonna leave as I don't want to take up too much of your time. Also, I'm needed back at the office. So it was nice talking with you Miss Nichols and I'm glad we found common ground. I'll talk to Sensei Toguchi about taking you up for an apprenticeship, maybe he might introduce you to another sensei in the US. One who is trained in Miyagi Do Karate." Daniel said walking to the door.
Tory stood up from the couch to show Mr Larusso to the door when Brandon poked his head out to see his sister talking with Mr Larusso.
"So there's another Miyagi Do Sensei here in America?" asked Tory.
"Yeah, her name is Julie Pierce; she lives over in Boston, Massachusetts and I think you might like her."
"Mr Larusso, I'll maybe consider it. I just need some time to think over some stuff before I decide. By the way, can I ask what's in the bag?" Tory asked as they walked to the door. Daniel turned to the bag, he turned back to Tory when he answered. "It's just some new bandages and pain relieving cream for your bruised hand, I thought you could restock on medical supplies. Is that your brother there?"
Tory turned her head to see Brandon's head disappear from the edge, and she smirked at that before she answered his question.
"Yeah, his name is Brandon."
"Oh, then you can tell him that I said hello." Daniel said opening the door.
He stepped out the front door but he turned back to speak. "Thanks, Tory for the hospitality, just think about my offer."
"I will Mr Larusso, goodbye." Tory responded before closing the door.
Once their business was done, Daniel walked back to the car in the driveway whilst Tory was standing near the door, thinking about the possibility of training in Miyagi Do Karate under Sensei Toguchi and what it might bring to her.
Seeing no reason to think things further, Tory breathed a sigh and walked forward to go and talk to her brother.

That's the end of the one shot story of Cobra Kai. It's just something to tide me over until Season Six comes out and hopefully we might get to see some new things to come. So Enjoy the new story, and remember to Strike first, strike hard, No Mercy. Cheers.
