As early as the very day after recieving his one week deadline I was already on the road, moving quickly through what was a very swampy and slow route, commonly known as route 212 or better known as...

torture.

Anywho, Eevee and Meditite were who I rotated throughout the route since both needed experience, though I did use my other pokemon in case the battle got too tough...

I remember visiting the trophy garden and having a good deal of fun! I didn't catch anything but... it didn't matter. I already had a full team anyways.

Rotom managed to find an old oven and... for the time being I had a fire type! Now that that small excursion was over with we were back on the road and by the time we made it back to Hearthone, there was only three days left until Celebi would return.Keeping my limited timeframe in mind I decided to solely focus on training with Rotom, since he and i needed to work out the kinks of his new form and he would be my trump card for the match.

During our training we were interrupted by Paul and... I lost. He kept his usual positive attitude which kinda made it hard to be mad at the guy...

Since it had been a full on battle I had to wait a full day before I could resume training, not the best of things but... oh well.

When I inevitably challenged Fantina she... well to be quite frank, she was demeaning, rude, dismissive, and an assehole. Yeah, she had most definitely changed...

As she lead in with her Drifblim while I chose Chatot since she had been wanting a real battle for a while at that point...

The battle wound up being one fought in the air, with both clashing sparingly yet each time grew more fierce.

The battle came to a-head with Drifblim throwing it's signature shadow ball while Chatot learned and used a superpowered brave bird!

I remember being surprised to find that it had resulted in a double knockout, but upon reflection I suppose I was overestimating my teams abilities back then since at that point they had only been with me for a few months.

Anywho, after returning our pokemon Fantina sighed in boredom before releasing her Gengar while I, spurred on by... emotion? Yeah, I decided to send out Eevee.

She was afraid of Gengar, that much I'm sure of but... she fought on anyways. That trust... I hadn't earned it, at least not at that point...

Anywho this battle turned out quite interesting since both pokemon had very few moves that could damage the other, limiting the battle to one of raw power and deception.

In the end, Eevee did the impossible and defeated Gengar, through a well timed bite coupled with all the other damage she had previously inflicted. Even though she was tired she danced around me in pure joy, merely happy to have helped me! It's times like these where I feel that we don't deserve pokemon, their just... so much better then we are. So much purer.

Fantina had seemed to notice me drifting off because she practically snarled at me, instantly bringing me back to reality. Deciding that Eevee had had enough battling for the day, I returned her before sending out Rotom.

Fantina actually seemed quite surprised as she sent out her Mismagius, though I suppose her shock makes sense. Who would use the type that a gym leader specializes in against them?

I would.

Due to Rotom's fire abilities the battle managed to be a close, yet quick fight, with Mismagius not really able to do much against my eternal torme- rotom.

Even as Fantina handed me the Relic badge she still seemed dismissive of me, merely muttering about beginners luck even though, ya know, it usually takes trainers years to win against her.

But no. It was all just beginners luck...

As I left my team with nurse Joy and headed back up to my room I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread, not knowing exactly what was about to go down.

Celebi had said that she needed my help but... for what exactly?
