It's always a challenge to create a hero or become one as you grow up. Recently my father died of a disease that can't be cured and I miss him very much. My grandmother handed me something that was once his, an amulet. Grandfather handed me his weapon, a tonfa. Grandmother said, "Your father wanted you to have these Laura, that way he'll always be close to you."

I put on the amulet, made a sad face and hugged Grandmother while Mother made a sad look on her face. Grandmother said, "Your grandfather, mother and I miss him too honey. You know exploring the yard with your dog would help cheer you up."

I smiled and said, "Sure Grandmother, I'll do that now." I got my french bulldog named Pumpkin and went outside. Pumpkin is a female and she's only eight weeks old. I'll never forget the stories that my father told me.

The ones he used to tell me are about a man named Hamato Yoshi. Also his pet rat. He was good friends with them. He was a bit heartbroken when he learned that he was killed. He doesn't know what happened to his rat. He hoped the rat would be alright.

I'll always cherish those stories. Then I began to notice my father's amulet and tonfa starting to glow. That's strange, what's happening? Before I had time to react, a flash of red and orange and purple surrounded me and my dog.

It then spun us around. Man it's like a wild ride. Then we landed with a thud. I groaned and got up. I looked around and realized that I'm in New York City! I then said, "Pumpkin, I have a feeling that we're not at home anymore."

We must be in the big apple in a different world.
