Hello everybody.
Now Star Wars had poor sequels, James Bond's No Time to Die was a mess, Terminator had Dark Fate, Doctor Who, or like the Arrowverse well looks like another beloved series in Indiana Jones is following the same path.
Pretty much the leaks are six different endings have been filmed, everyone the test audiences hated, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge picks up Indy's hat to keep going in every ending.
Now I'm not saying a female lead is my issue, far from it, after all, I enjoy Lara Croft's character and Harrison Ford well Indy at this age? Yeah, just not feasible if desiring to bring the franchise back. Only I've never been impressed with Phoebe's acting skills.
One possible ending is:
"In my screening, the movie ends with young Indy sacrificing himself to save Helena, causing old Indy to fade away like Marty does in BTTF. Helena picks up his hat and the movie ends with a montage of her in iconic Indiana Jones scenes set to the John Williams score."
Like really? Okay, kill off then replace everything Indy does with her, instead of allowing this new character to stand on her own. Not great storytelling.
In a nice world, I'm proven wrong for Indiana Jones Five as it is a decent film. Something like the Solo movie or Star Treck films started by JJ Abrams. Or even Ghostbusters Afterlife for example. It being No Way Home levels of good is really pushing my hopes.
Sadly, I don't think that will happen given how entertainment's current trend is poorly throwing stuff at a barricade then insulting the viewer when it's not well received.
On to the fic
In a bunker
Running a hand through her long hair Helena looks at the younger Indy laying dead on the floor having taken a bullet after Jürgen Voller attempted to shoot her, and Voller got killed after older Indy pushed him into a temporal storm created by the time machine. Yet Helena looks over at the other Indiana readjusting his fedora and securing his whip on his belt some feet away.
"What? How are you still here?" Helena asks in confusion.
"Time travel doesn't work like erasing yourself with the grandfather paradox. It's more the idea put forth in the Man who Murdered Mohammed, all we've done is create alternate events" Indiana replies.
Sighing "And I think a darker one given you're no longer around," Helena says grimly "Listen earlier when I've made disrespectful, and downright malicious comments, or refused to see you as my godfather I was wrong. And I am sorry."
"We all make mistakes but you're learning, it's a start. Let's go home kid" Indiana says.
Helena and Indiana Jones start heading for the repaired time travel device, due to some recused scientists from the death camps with Sallah's help, so they can get back to the 1960's.
Bonus ending- Remnants of a temple
Groaning in pain Indiana blinks coming back to his senses after taking over behind a fallen rock from the grenade Jürgen Voller used while escaping. Looking to his right for seeing Helena regaining her senses as nearby his younger self lays on the ground bleeding from two bullets in his side.
"Get those wounds stabilized. I'll handle the nut" Indiana orders.
Quietly nodding Helena using a knife starts cuts strips off her shirt begins to wrap up the younger Doctor Jones's wounds, a skill never really had besides basic first aid but after having been put through hell in this recent adventure is starting to get better at it.
Meanwhile, the older Indy puts his fallen fedora back on before running. Knows does not have his trust sidearm since the younger version was using it, but well will make do.
Picking up speed Indy stops near a ledge looking down onto the bridge where Jürgen Voller has entered the time tunnel.
Apparently, it's not enough for the Nazis just to win World War Two anymore, no Indiana notes in disgust, this evil scum is returning just before World War One to start up the Nazi regime from the beginning. The death camps, the boot-stomping goons tracking whole families out in the middle of the night and killing or torturing people just for enjoyment, removing people's right such as carrying weapons, speech, etc. and Voller wants to make this happen even earlier? Not on his watch, Indy knows.
Removing his whip Indy throws it forward wrapping around the old, ruins of the temple protruding out, and leaps off swinging down onto the bridge. Recoiling his whip Jones runs forward into the tunnel jumping forward, and landing on the rock platform. A podium to give specialized protection given this time storm all around them. Blue and white energies clash together like a rageful, lighting storm out of a person's nightmares for somebody petrified from bad weather. Having violent winds capable enough to rip flesh off a person's bones.
In addition to the typical dark, green colored dress uniform, Voller has a dial hanging from a chain around his neck, directing when a user ends up.
"Why can't you just keep to a plan for once and die Dr. Jones?" Voller yells.
"Never had much luck in plans" Indy replies.
Charging forward Voller has a dagger in his hand, still warm from the blood of Jesus on the cross given an unplanned trip to Rome in trying to get the device to work, stole and fashioned a knife from the Spear of Density.
Voller's vicious, relentless attacks on the older Indy who despite doing his best to dodge, or block gets overwhelmed by numerous slashes, or stabs leaving him severely injured plus being exhausted due to the recent, adventure. Getting kicked in his knee crushing it Indiana yells in agony while Voller reaches down picking him up by his shirt tosses him over the platform.
However, Indiana managed to grab onto some of the exposed rock on the platform underneath only while time's energies start hitting his dying body.
Yet instead of being ripped apart something different occurs as the blood on the knife, mixes in with his blood having already been changed due to drinking from the carpenter's cup years ago, begins fixing Indy's wounds. Feeling his entire body heal with his age fading away as his body becomes younger Indiana having renewed strength gets a better grip.
Managing to find enough places to put his hands Indy crawls onto the top of the platform just as Voller looks in disbelief. Rapidly using his whip to disarm Jürgen holding his knife which falls into the time storm the Nazi rushes forward. However, Indy dodges Voller's punches on managing to rip off the chain only gets hit in his stomach, and again in his face twice. Spitting out blood Indy headbutts Voller, punches him in the stomach, and kicks in his knee breaking it.
Rapidly grabbing the man's coat gives a final push sending him over the edge, and into the vicious winds below as Voller is ripped apart. Not that Indy really cares given Voller had a younger version of his father tortured before they helped him escape, and get to a MASH unit.
Looking down at the dial Indy starts moving the circles to set correctly to return to the temple before pocketing it. Removing his whip Indy throws it forward wrapping around the same protruding structure before swinging out while the tunnel closes behind.
Readjusting his hat Indiana looks over to see Helena running over holding his old service revolver.
"What uh happened?" Helena asks.
"Voller's dreams of tyranny are over. How's the other me?" Indy asks.
"Out cold and will need better medical attention than I can give, but is stable" Helena replies.
"Good, let's radio in Sallah and get out of here" Indy replies.
"What happened to you for being different?" Helena asks.
"Not quite sure myself but I'll tell you other some other time" Indy replies.
"You're going to have quite the explaining to do when we back to our time," Helena says.
"No, I won't. I'm thinking Professor Jones to be declared KIA. Maybe even go a little farther into the future to claim on being the third" Indy says.
"And what, no more adventuring? That just doesn't seem like you" Helena notes in disbelief.
"You're learning kid and no if anything I think the adventures are just starting" Indy replies.
Hope you all enjoyed this and leave a review if you want. Flamers I won't tolerate.
So, the second ending just kind of came to me as I doubt it will happen at all, but I couldn't help myself.
Personally, I see the younger actor replacing Indiana Jones as the fan casting tossed around for Chris Pratt or my other choice would be Chris Pine. Either would do great.
Frankly, I think the second ending would be a respectful way to write out Harrison yet letting a new actor take over.
I hope my reasoning behind it is a combination of things for why Indiana changed into this new, younger actor makes sense.
Also, during writing, especially in the second ending, I for sure imagined the Indiana Jones main theme playing.
Until next time.
