She stood outside by the stop sign, waiting for him, breathing in that sweet fresh air. They'd planned this for some time and it was just remarkable, Mary Jane Watson and New York's Spider-Man going for a motorcycle date ride down to Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, and they'd come all the way out there to do this.
Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man, was willing to leave New York with Mary Jane just to go for a motorbike ride in the New Orleans for a date. It had been quite the risk, but there was no doubt that it would work.
And today was just so perfect, what could possibly go wrong?
No villains attacking, no crime to fight, just Peter and MJ.
'He should be here any minute now...' Mary Jane thought. She brushed her hair and checked her makeup, all was fine. She'd showered, put on fresh clothes. She had everything.
There was nothing to miss, nothing that got left behind.
Just then, she heard motorcycle engines rumbling somewhere far off, sparking her curiosity. It sounded like it was coming this way.
Mary Jane kept an eye on the street, not many people took notice to the redhead, nobody bothered her. And whenever someone interacted with her, it was usually just a casual conversation and that was that.
MJ blended in, a face in the crowd, undetected by anybody except for maybe the likes of Spider-Man and his spider sense.
With each passing second, the motorbike rumbling came closer. Then, from around a street corner, the web-head appeared.
Mary Jane pumped her fists and squealed softly; she was so delighted to see Peter arriving. He was dressed in his costume, mask and all, and riding on a black and yellow-colored Triumph Daytona motorcycle.
He'd texted her earlier, told her about the bike. Mary Jane couldn't wait to ride it.
Peter rode towards the redhead and dialed down the engines, the rumbling waned and, soon, the bike parked by the stop sign near Mary Jane's standing point.
"Hey, MJ." Peter said, "Cool bike, huh?"
"Oh my gosh, it's gorgeous!" Mary Jane said happily, "It is cool!"
"I know, the price was pretty fair too and this is gonna be fun! You ready, MJ?"
Mary Jane climbed onto the back of the bike behind the web-slinger. "Oh, you know it, tiger." She purred.
"Alright, off we go, girl!"
Mary Jane wrapped her arms around her boyfriend and leaned against his back, a couple people watching took some pictures and began sharing them on Instagram while texting about Spider-Man taking a woman for a motorcycle ride on an apparently crime-free day.
Peter started up the engines and hit the gas. The Triumph Daytona rode down the street with Peter gripping the wheel firmly, the masked superhero drove through the streets of New Orleans, passing by STOP signs and running green lights while making sure he and MJ didn't crash into any passing cars along the way.
Peter kept his mask on, concealing his identity to those who didn't know who Spider-Man was. MJ was more than happy to keep Peter's secret; she wouldn't say a word.
They turned left, driving down Ditko Avenue, and passed a couple of shops. One shop was selling comics, one of which caught MJ's eye briefly as it had Spider-Man on the cover.
Given how famous Peter was these days, it almost made sense that the comic industry would pump out comics featuring fictionalized adventures of Spider-Man.
Mary Jane and Peter drove past a school bus, a couple kids peeking out the window waved to the duo as they passed and Peter waved back with a grin underneath his mask.
'Nice kids.' MJ thought.
She laughed and hugged Peter tightly as they picked up wind, a sharp breeze blew through her long hair and it flew behind her as the bike rode on.
Peter turned a corner and they were soon passing the city limits, heading through the freeway and the interstate, passing by a sign that mentioned the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge.
Mary Jane took her time to take in the view of the New Orleans country around them, seeing a couple horses galloping in the fields, construction workers making new apartment spaces and houses as well as a helicopter taking off.
"I know." Peter yelled, "Webtastic view!"
"Amazing!" Mary Jane called back, "It's amazing just like you!"
Peter chuckled; he loved those compliments. 'After all these years of heroics, I really have earned enough respect to be called amazing.' He thought.
The couple turned another road corner, swerving around lightly to avoid a truck, and drove through a tunnel. Orange lights lit up the darkness, illuminating the way for Peter and Mary Jane, a few cars came by, driving past the two as they often stuck to the middle of the road to avoid crashing into any automobiles.
Shortly, they exited the tunnel and rode past the trees and a few rocks. It was then that the bridge appeared, the view of the lake appearing as well. Peter drove on the right side of the road, making sure that there weren't any cars about to run them over accidently.
Underneath him and Mary Jane, the engines rumbled and the bike shuddered, making their seat shake a little. The manufacturers had done a good job putting this bike together.
Mary Jane kissed Peter on the cheek, her arms wrapped around his muscular chest. Peter steered the bike forward, then he took another turn, heading towards the Causeway ahead.
As the motorcycle made its way over the barrier, it shuddered a little, the wheels spun fast and the engines rumbled intensely and loudly with all the gas that Peter was putting into this fancy ride.
He drove across the bridge, maintaining a firm hand on the Triumph Daytona's steering wheel as they drove along. Mary Jane took in the view, dazzled by the scenery. Down below, Lake Pontchartrain sparkled with beauty, its waters looked very inviting, so perfect to swim in.
For a moment, Mary Jane wanted to get off the bike and jump off the bridge into that lake, she wanted to swim in it, enjoy the lake and its beauty.
But that would be later, a little later.
Or perhaps it would be on another day, if something came up.
Mary Jane looked at Peter and leaned against his back while her red hair continued to flow with the breeze.
Just then, an explosion shook the bridge and Peter swerved with a "whoa", taken by surprise. He stopped the bike, both he and Mary Jane looked around, wondering what was going on.
A couple cars crashed into each other and one car drove off the bridge, the driver letting out a Wilhelm scream, while a few more cars exploded. Chaos was unfolding
Loud cackling perked Peter and Mary Jane's attention, the cackle was followed by the sound of engines roaring. A glider came into view, followed suit by its rider shortly after, a pumpkin bomb in hand.
"It's been a while, Spider-Man!" The Green Goblin crowed.
"Hey, Gobby!" Peter yelled, "Why couldn't you reschedule? I'm busy!"
"The Goblin never sleeps!" The Goblin, Norman Osborn, declared, "Not when the Spider is out and about, especially not when I, the Green Goblin, Spider-Man's sworn enemy, have vowed to destroy him for good. Perhaps, I should start by harming your girlfriend there!"
"You stay away from MJ, pal!" Spider-Man shouted.
The Green Goblin flew towards Peter and MJ with a cackle, declaring his destructive intent.
Peter quickly revved up the engines and the bike took off at high speed, Mary Jane held on tight and they drove across the bridge with the Goblin in pursuit. The wacky supervillain threw a Pumpkin Bomb, aiming for the motorcycle, especially Peter and MJ.
Peter's ever useful Spider-Sense went off and he swerved around, then he slammed on the gas and went faster, getting away just as the bomb went off and caused some damage to the bridge.
"HEY, GOBLIN!" Peter called behind himself, "YOU'RE TRASHING PUBLIC PROPERTY!"
"The Lake Pontchartrain Bridge is more than that, Spider-Man!" Goblin called back, "It's public domain, MEANING YOU CAN DEMOLISH IT, ANYTIME! NOW HOLD STILL!"
"Norman means business, Peter!" Mary Jane warned.
"I can tell." Peter said, "And I'm not letting him ruin our date, MJ."
"BOMBS AWAY!"
The Goblin threw another bomb, one that clattered to the ground right in front of the bike. Peter slammed on the throttle harder and drove around the bomb as it came to rest near the edge of the bridge. He and MJ managed to make it to a distance right before the bomb exploded, damaging the place even more.
"WHY ARE YOU RUNNING, WHY ARE YOU RUNNING!?" The Goblin shouted, "STOP AVOIDING MY BOMBS, DON'T YOU WANT TO FIGHT YOUR NUMBER ONE NEMESIS?"
"Peter, let me drive." Mary Jane whispered.
"Are you serious?" Peter protested.
"Just trust me!"
"*Sigh* All right!"
Peter quickly parked the bike and climbed out of the driver's seat, Mary Jane took the wheel and the superhero jumped onto her previous spot. MJ slammed on the engines and drove off across the Causeway Bridge with Goblin in pursuit and Peter facing his nemesis, prepared for his next attack.
"CATCH!"
The Goblin threw another bomb and Peter flicked his wrist, sending out a web at the incoming explosive. He caught the bomb and swung it around with the webbing. With enough force, just before the Pumpkin Bomb went off, Peter threw it back at the Goblin and his own explosive detonated near the glider.
The Green Goblin shouted as the explosion rocked his glider, nearly knocking him down. The Goblin regained control and glared at Peter with fury, he flew after the web-slinger, snarling with hatred as blades emerged from the glider.
"A LUCKY SHOT, BUT YOUR LUCK WON'T LAST, WEB-SLINGER!" The Goblin shouted, "You've spun your last web, Spider-Man, and I'm going to make this quick. As for MJ, I'm gonna finish her, nice and slow! Oh, we're about to have a heck of a time!"
The enemy flew closer, the distance closing fast, despite the speed that the bike was accelerating at with MJ at the wheel. But Peter, Spider-Man, was ready.
He leaped towards the Goblin, landing atop his glider, and punched him in the face.
The Goblin staggered and attempted to kick down the web-head, Peter leaped up to avoid the kick and slung a web in the Goblin's face. Then he made his way to the underside of the Glider and began tearing out circuitry, causing the engines to splutter until the glider fell.
Both enemies landed on the bridge, Goblin rolled to the ground and Peter almost tumbled off the edge had his clinging powers not saved him. Mary Jane stopped the bike and looked back, watching the intense scene unfold.
Peter got back to his feet and crouched in a superhero position, the Goblin rose to his feet, glaring at the determined web-head.
"Just as annoying and predictable as ever!" The villain snarled, "You just never hang that mask up and you never let us be."
"You threatened Mary Jane..." Peter growled back, "And while on a bridge, just like with Gwen. That was a big mistake."
"It's nothing personal, but for years, you've gotten in the way of my business. And when it's time to take action, someone has to get their hands dirty. Your girlfriend is nothing but collateral damage in our futile war, Spider-Man. Now you've stuck your web in my matters for the last time, at last, it's time we end this."
The Goblin drew a blade, a tall dagger, and Peter ran at the Goblin with slight fury coursing through him.
Memories filled his mind, memories of his battle with the lunatic on the George Washington bridge, memories of Gwen Stacy's lifeless body, memories of the following battle where it seemed like the Goblin had fallen by the blade of his own glider.
It had led to this. Once again, a bridge was involved and someone was at risk, even though Mary Jane was a capable woman.
Peter was not going to let the Goblin hurt her.
Goblin sliced at Peter, Peter ducked and rolled between his legs. He kicked the Green Goblin in the back of his foot, surprising the masked nutcase. The Goblin turned with a snarl in his eyes.
Behind him and Peter, smoke rose from the wreckage of crashed cars on the other side of the Chainway Bridge as police cars drove in, officers helping those who were hurt.
Peter yelled with fury, the fury of a determined hero, and punched the Green Goblin in the nose. The Goblin snarled, his nose leaking a bit of blood. He took a slice at the web-head, who knocked the blade out of his hand with a well-timed move and judo-flipped the Goblin.
"Do you never tire?" The Goblin growled, "You can't fight forever, Spider-Boy, nor can you keep Mary Jane from me. I'll gut her, just as I slayed Gwen."
"With great power, there must also come great responsibility." Peter said.
"Compassion, love, the ideals and feelings of the weak!" The Goblin growled again, "Ideals that can be weaponized and broken, just like your heart."
Goblin punched at Peter, who countered the strike, then the heroic Spider-Man kicked the masked lunatic in the knee and punched him in the jaw.
The Goblin toppled over, taken off guard by the force of the attack. He got back up, filled with more fury, and punched at Peter, who grabbed his fist and then punched him away harder than ever.
The Goblin stumbled, backing towards the edge. Peter moved closer, the Goblin tried to counterattack, but the web-slinger sprayed a web in his face. Peter then punched him once more, the Goblin staggered in surprise and then he fell over the threshold.
He fell off the bridge, falling into the water and vanishing from view.
Peter took his nemesis' fallen blade and dropped it into the lake as well, letting it join the Green Goblin.
Mary Jane rode up to Peter on the bike and stood over the edge next to him, looking at the spot where the Green Goblin had fallen. She held Peter's hand, Peter lifted up his mask, showing half of his face, and the two shared a tender kiss on the lips.
Peter got back on the bike with Mary Jane behind him again, they drove off across the bridge, the engines of the Triumph Daytona rumbling loud and clear as the engines of the cars on the bridge as well.
A short time later, after crossing the bridge to the other side, the two were down at the Pontchartrain beach near the location of the old Beach Park.
Peter had changed out of his costume and was wearing a simple green swimsuit with white linings. He looked out across the lake, waiting for Mary Jane to come. Their date had been fun so far, she'd loved the bike ride.
In fact, the battle with the Goblin had helped make things interesting.
While he'd seem him fall, Peter knew that the Green Goblin would come back at some point, he always did. The web-slinger would not mistake Norman Osborn as gone for good, the Goblin had returned from the grave before. Chances were, he would do it again.
"Hey, Pete."
He turned, Mary Jane approached him, wearing a white bathrobe that showed her cleavage. Mary Jane smiled at Peter and peeled off the robe.
Peter stood, half-enchanted by the scene in front of him, seeing Mary Jane pose with a hand on her hip, wearing a light-yellow G-string bikini that accentuated her shapely, womanly figure.
"Do you like what you're seeing?" Mary Jane asked, she came closer to Peter and snaked her arms around the hero she called her boyfriend.
"Yeah, MJ." Peter said, "I do."
"That's perfect, Tiger."
Mary Jane leaned in and kissed him on the lips. Peter kissed MJ back and the redhead leaned forward, pressing her figure against his muscular superhero stature, their arms wrapped around each other as they kissed deeply. Then they pulled away.
"I love you, Spider-Man." Mary Jane said in a whisper.
"I love you too, Ms. Watson." Peter said back. They shared another kiss and then, with no time to waste, the two of them walked towards the water and took a dip in Lake Pontchartrain, ready to enjoy a fun, refreshing swim and the rest of their date...
The End
