"Who knows, maybe one day everything will be different?"
"Yeah, maybe one day."
The last conversation with Jay still wandered in her mind. She still remembered that tumultuous day where her story with Jay had ended the moment Arthur had been arrested and Jay had been shot to protect her. That day, which culminated in the arrest of that apprentice mobster and bloodsucker, also resulted in her breaking up with Jay. Gabby blamed herself, wondered why she gave up so easily. That wasn't her. Gabriela Dawson always fought for what she wanted, and she wanted a future with Jay, even knowing the risks of his profession. However, with Halstead working in Intelligence with Antonio now, it would be very difficult for both of them to have a relationship. Especially with Antonio picking on Halstead and worrying about his little sister's safety.
Sighing, Gabby finished putting another glass in the cupboard after another busy night at Molly's. Now free of Arthur, she, Otis, and Herrmann no longer had to worry about that insufferable man spoiling their evenings by charging him his share of the bar. It was another day at work and all Dawson wanted at that moment was to go home and curl up in his comfortable and warm bed.
The bar door opened and Gabby frowned. She had left a sign on the door saying they were closing now. The moment she turned around, she saw a blonde woman with gray blue eyes looking her up and down. Gabby didn't mind the woman's arrogant manner.
"I don't know if you read the sign, but we're already closing for today", Gabby said trying to be polite. "If you want a drink, come early tomorrow."
The blonde just ignored the warning given by the brunette and continued looking her up and down, uncomfortable with the fact that Gabby was everything she was told.
"Gabriela Dawson, just a piece of advice: be careful with the people you surround yourself with. They may not be what they appear to be", and with that said, she stormed out of the bar, leaving a startled and frightened Gabby.
It was exactly 1:30 am and Antonio was in his seventh sleep. A police officer's tiring day left him exhausted to the point that he wanted to get home and go straight to sleep. The eldest Dawson even considered retiring, but kept putting the idea off. According to him, there was still a lot for him to do in the police.
The ringing of his cell phone at the head of the bed made Antonio growl with rage at having his sleep interrupted. He decided not to answer it and put a pillow over his face so he wouldn't have to listen to that annoying sound. But the sound continued to persist and Antonio was overcome by irritation, but his face took on a worried expression when he saw that Gabby's name was on his cell phone screen. Gabriela never called him at that time. She felt her heart race at the thought that something could have happened to her little sister.
"Gabby? Did something happen? You never call me at this time", he asked worriedly.
"Antonio, something very strange happened". Gabby explained, her voice had an agonized tone and Antonio got up from the bed in a hurry, looking for some clothes to wear and go to meet his sister.
"Calm down, Gabby. Explain to me what happened", he asked, "I'm on my way there. By the way, where are you? Don't tell me you're at Molly's? Did you see what time it is? Half past one in the morning! Ah, but tomorrow Herrmann and Otis will listen to me."
"Antonio, I'm already at home." Gabby cut it off, she was irritated with her brother's overprotection. Did he not realize that she was no longer a child?
"Great, I'm on my way there." He replied more calmly and starting to look for the car keys.
"Early tomorrow I'll go to the district to look for you, go rest.", she asked.
Antonio was silent. However, he decided to break the silence.
"You know that... you know you're going to bump into him, don't you?", he asked cautiously. It was Gabby's turn to be silent.
Of course she knew she had that risk, she wasn't stupid. But right now, her own safety was more important than worrying about running into her ex-boyfriend.
"I know, I know", she sighed, running her hand through her hair. "I can't escape this, Tonio."
"Are you sure you want to come here tomorrow?", he asked wanting to know if Gabby was right in what she said.
"Yes", Gabby replied without hesitation.
"Tomorrow I'll go to the district, Tonio."
"Ok, take care", he asked.
"I will", she assured and hung up the phone.
Taking a deep breath, Gabby made her way to her bed and threw herself into it, slipping into a deep sleep.
Hey guys, how are you?
As I said on twitter a few days ago, today I started translating the fanfic One Day into English. This fanfic is Dawstead/Dawsey, and I confess that going back to writing it and after some conversations with a friend, I'm thinking of changing some things.
But, here we go;
1) This fanfic will take place in the second season of CF, and I changed a lot of things like Hailey's entry. You will understand why in the next chapter.
2) There will be some original characters that are from Jay's past, you will find out who he is later.
3) Couples. Come on. The fanfic is Dawstead and Dawsey. Half to half. Maybe I innovate and make something unlikely happen. For now I'm thinking about whether to make it happen here in One Day or in Obstacles. Or maybe both. I am going to think. About Upstead, come on. Let me be clear: I don't like them together, and I already warn you that in this fanfic Hailey is going to be a horrible bitch to Gabby. I'm sorry, but this was planned from the beginning. So, Upstead fans, if you don't want to get angry watching Hailey get destroyed in this fanfic, I recommend that you don't even read it, because I'm warning you not to catch you off guard. I don't have to accept being called names just because I'm giving Upton another personality in MY story. Just as you can write Erin as a mean bitch, I can also write Hailey. If you come to curse me in the comments, you will be blocked.
To my friends who like to read my fanfics, I welcome you here at One Day. I hope you like the story xD.
