Diana hadn't expected for the space-time key to open the door, especially since the door only responded to those gifted with sailor crystals.
She would never admit it, but she had always been a bit jealous of Chibi-Moon and the other Sailor Scouts. They were blessed with divine powers from the universe, powers which granted them great strength and ability, while she, her mother and father merely had the capability to transform from cat to human form. It was impossible to be jealous of the Queen, she who had suffered so much as a princess, battled as a reincarnated teenage girl and now ruled as a great Queen of the Crystal Palace.
As soon as the key was lifted from the cord on her neck, it began to transform into the space time rod. Diana reached out and grabbed the steel rod; she was lifted into the air in whirlwind of pink and blue light. Her body felt warm as she rose into the air; space and time disappeared in a blur of pastel colors. She landed back on her feet moments later, completely transformed.
Instead of her usual silk yellow gown and white tights, Diana was now dressed in a purple and yellow sailor suit. On her ears sparkled silver bell earrings, earrings which matched the belled collar at her neck. Reaching up to her hair, Diana felt the familiar softness of her cat ears. Two gray ears jutted from her black curls, undeniably revealing her otherworldly birthright.
Long white gloves donned her slender arms, while a set of matching white boots, that tied like ballet slippers, ran down her thighs.
The sleeves of her blouse were translucent, while her white bodice was covered by a large yellow bow. A beam of light, reflecting off of a compact within the bow's center, revealed the symbol to be in the form of a cat's paw.
Diana felt a surge of power run through her as a moon crest shined on her forehead, imprinting its form onto her skin.
She knew with certainty she was no longer simply Diana, daughter of Luna and Artemis, servant to the Princess Small Lady.
Her new name was Sailor Miao, protector of planet Mau, the lost civilization of a feline-humanoid race.
Sailor Miao had only heard stories of the Time-Space gateway before, and what she had heard from Chibi-Usagi was very different from what she was seeing now.
A thick mist enveloped the room, but soon dissipated into a light fog as the chamber door closed. On both her right and her left, as she walked down the misty hallway, were shimmering crystal mirrors. Diana peered into the largest mirror, a standing mirror which stood twice the height of Sailor Pluto. Her soft red eyes grew wide and dark at what she saw before her.
