Tally had refused to leave her alone, even when Sarah tried to use her work to blow her across the gap in the ice cave she managed to dodge her. So here they were huddled together in the ice cave, just the two of them and the frozen witch in ice enjoying her visions of the outside.
Sarah wasn't talking to Tally, she was angry with her for letting herself get trapped inside there with her. So here they were sitting in silence and the cold. Sarah may have been angry with her but it hadn't stopped her from moving closer to the younger witch and bringing her into her arms to hold her close and try and share body warmth.
"I'm not going to say I'm sorry for staying behind with you, you know? You're a steward too, you're just as important as I am," Tally huffed as you could see her breath.
"You're far more important, Tally. I can take care of myself. You realize if your sisters hear about this they're going to blame me?"
Tally couldn't see her face but she could feel her squeeze her tighter and hold her closer.
"And I'll tell them it isn't your fault….why don't you let someone else take care of you for once?"
Sarah sighed, "I don't have that luxury, Tally. Beside's, it's been so long since I've been allowed to let anyone take care of me."
Tally turned in her arms and held Sarah's face in her mitten covered hands, "Well, I'm going to take care of you and you're going to have to deal with that."
Sarah chuckled, "Even if that means the both of us freezing in this cave together?"
A determined look crossed Tally's face and Sarah knew she was up to something, the younger witch tried to stand on her shaky legs but inevitably collapsed back into Sarah, "I guess I can't feel my legs," Tally chuckled nervously.
Sarah held her close as she thought for a minute and then a seed like no other forced its way from her causing the cave to shake and the ceiling to begin to collapse around them. But then the seed faded from her and they were still stuck in that cave with at least a little sunlight streaming in.
"It was worth a shot," Sarah chuckled.
Tally chuckled in return and buried her face in Sarah's hair, a moment of silence passed before she spoke again, "I'm sorry for always making things difficult for you."
"You keep me honest, Tally, you make me better. Don't apologize for holding to your truth."
Tally pulled back and pressed her forehead to Sarah's as the warmth of their breaths could be seen and shared between them. They were startled apart by the rumbling of ice and snow and the once collapsed cave now had an opening.
"Am I interrupting something?"
In came Khalida, bundled up, and looked between the two. Tally looked from Khalida to Sarah and back again and realized she had been straddling Sarah's lap at some point and her face turned crimson before standing on her wobbly legs and Sarah following after.
"How did you find us?" Sarah's eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"I heard your song and I came, now come, we have a wedding to get to," Khalida turned and walked back out the way she came.
Before Tally could take another step on wobbly legs Sarah was bending before her so she could climb on her back, "Are you sure about that?" Tally grimaced.
"I can't have you falling all over the place, let me take care of you."
So Tally climbed onto her back and let herself be carried out, she whispered suggestively in Sarah's ear, "Then later I get to take care of you."
Sarah barked out a laugh as they made their way out into the sunlight, "Fair enough, Tally, I cede. Take very good care of me."
Tally promised she most definitely would be.
