After that, her phone rang, which startled Zoey and Glameow. She then put on loud rock music on her smartphone, then answered it, which revealed to be her childhood friend, Candace Suzuna...
Candace: (voice on phone) Hello?
Zoey: Oh, hi, Miss Senior, I wasn't expecting you to call!
Candace: Is that loud music?
Zoey: (loudly) Oh, yes, the hotel maid is cleaning my room, and she didn't know about the music? (off the phone) Could you please turn that down?! (turns down the music on her phone, then returns to it) Anyway, what's up?
Candace: Well, I called to tell you that I found out more information about Dawn's grandmother.
Zoey: (worried) What happened?

Zoey: (realizes) Oh, sorry, Miss Senior. I have a plan on how I could help get dawn back safe and sound. But you might want to tell her mom she disappeared, in case she doesn't know about this yet.

Zoey explained her plan to Candace, who was shocked at what she was going to do: That Zoey would go to that house in Mexico City, and investigate there. After ending the call, Zoey said to Glameow, 'We'll have to go to that house, and find out where Dawn went.' Her Pokémon looked at her in surprise. Candace: Zo-Zo, someone was just found dead in that house. Are you sure you want to go there right now?
Zoey: I have to, Miss Senior. Dawn's not only my rival, but one of my good friends.
