Hi everyone. How are you all doing today?
As probably many of you know and for those of you who don't know this, a major player from the MCU known as James Gunn was appointed as the new head over the entire DC franchise and everything DC related. Including animations and video games.
As such I've been reading about his plans with it moving forward and from that info, what I've read about him, how he interacts with the fans, and the praise heaped upon him I personally think he's the right man for the job, has a true vision for it moving forward, and is going to create a strong, thriving franchise that might rival or even exceed the MCU.
And so I've recently come up with the idea to pay tribute to his appointment and I hope you'll all enjoy it.

James Gunn was currently seated in his office putting the finishing touches upon his upcoming "Guardians Of The Galaxy" holiday special when he was suddenly enveloped by a wave of sparkling green energy before he vanished from the chair in his office. The next thing he knew, he found himself surrounded by green energy on his left, right, and from behind as well while directly across from him was a magnificent and infinite black expanse as far as the eye could see and filled with numerous sparkling stars, galaxies, and shooting comets.
He also saw an impressive view of Earth but it wasn't just one view of Earth but multiple Earths all around and filling the vast expanse.
As he gazed upon the dazzling view in awe, a voice was heard from beside him.
"Impressive isn't it?" the voice questioned him to which Gunn whipped his head around and to his surprise saw that it was Spectre Oliver, the other man wearing his flowing green robes and with his green hood draped over his head.
"Oliver?" Gunn questioned in surprise and with wide eyes.
"Yes and no. I am Oliver but as I'm sure you already know I am so much more now," the Spectre answered him to which Gunn nodded.
"I remember. During the Crisis you were elevated to the rank of Spectre and used your powers to not only revive but also expand the multiverse. And from what I can see it is truly spectacular," he acknowledged with an impressed smile before his face then morphed into a curious expression. "But why show all of this to me?"
"Because I am placing you in charge of this version of the multiverse as its manager, custodian, and gatekeeper," the Spectre answered him and then smiled at his look of astonishment before moving to explain. "My recreating it was to give its worlds and all of their inhabitants a second chance at life as they all rightfully deserved in addition to telling a new plethora of stories. Hence why I've expanded it with new worlds. But I also observe an infinite number of multiverses and while my abilities are tremendous even I have my limits and this new multiverse deserves to be expanded and fleshed out even further.
"Therefore I am bestowing upon you a portion of my creative power and you shall use that power to expand, organize, and reorganize this multiverse while creating bigger and grander yet cohesive stories and across the multiple visual platforms within the Fourth Wall realm where you reside. Your ultimate task being to consolidate it into the greatest story ever told and then present that story to your fellow Fourth Wall residents."
Gunn found himself floored. Not knowing what to say to the offer the Spectre was presenting to him.
"Wow. I honestly don't know what to say. This is without a doubt an honor and I'm humbled you'd not only choose but trust me to oversee and expand this multiverse. But I have to ask. Why me?" he finally yet humbly responded and then questioned in wonderment.
The Spectre smiled once more.
"Because I have been observing your work within your dimension's entertainment franchise and from what I've seen you're a creative genius and a true visionary in addition to having worn a number of genre hats including comedy and horror among others. I also know that what I'm offering you and if you were to accept it would not only be a job but a passion project for you and as such I have no doubt you would work wonders with this multiverse and deliver nothing but the best for the general audiences who you count among your fellow Forth Waller residents.
"Therefore I ask you once more. Will you accept this opportunity that I wish to bestow upon you?"
Gunn thought it over long and hard as he considered the possibilities. He knew this was not only a once in a lifetime offer but a true honor. Especially since it was being granted to him by not only one of the most powerful beings in existence but the one who created what was now being entrusted to him if he accepted. After a while he finally gave his answer.
"I will graciously accept this generous opportunity you have afforded to me and I promise I will utilize the power you will give me to the best of my ability and will not let either you or my fellow Fourth Wallers down," he answered with confidence and more than willing and ready to embrace this new chapter in his life.
"I would expect nothing less from you and that's why I have entrusted you with this," the Spectre replied with a nod and an approving smile to which Gunn smiled back. He then rested his hand upon the latter's shoulder and a flow of green energy pulsated from his hand and into Gunn, Gunn now possessing an ample portion of the Spectre's creative power.
"And now you're ready and I wish you nothing but the best," he finally said to him before they shook hands followed by the Spectre's departure who vanished from Gunn's sight and returned to the former's headquarters in the Afterlife and inside of what appeared to be a throne room consisting of 5 thrones. Seated upon one of the thrones was T'Challa, the Black Panther himself, though the other thrones were currently not occupied since their owners were away for the time being.
The Spectre on his part seated himself upon the central throne and reclined himself upon it.
"I see you've concluded your meeting with James Gunn. And allow me to be the first to applaud you for making the truly excellent decision to have him be the one to run the multiverse you helped revive," T'Challa addressed his friend, the two men having become close friends after they'd met sometime following the former's passing before they'd ascended to their current positions alongside 3 other heroes following their own passing. One of whom Oliver had welcomed to the Afterlife moments after her arrival.
"Indeed. And I have the utmost faith in him in that he will succeed in his endeavor. I'd also like to congratulate you on a job well done in handling that Toc Ticker lady," the other man replied as they discussed their latest business endeavors.
The former king chuckled.
"Ah yes. Thankfully Miss Ekow is currently under the watchful eye of my mother and sister while going through her needed reeducation," he said with a nod and then reclined into his own throne.
"That's good to hear," Oliver replied with satisfaction. Afterwards they continued to converse with each other including future plans to finally deal with the corrupt Time Masters who thought they could continue manipulating the timeline for their own ends.
Meanwhile the scene shifted back to Gunn who continued to gaze upon the vast expanse of the multiverse and with a determined expression upon his face as he girded himself for this latest adventure life had just handed to him. Vowing to indeed create the greatest story ever told.

You'll also be meeting the other 3 aforementioned throne room occupiers eventually though you can consider my preceding reference to Spectre Oliver and Frost to be a hint to one of their identities. Plus these 5 late heroes will also be seen within certain other fics and one shots of mine from time to time if they fit or if the plot works to include them.
I have a specific reason why I'm doing this which came to me very recently and I'll explain it the next time you see these 5 heroes.
Finally but as for Spectre Oliver's plans to deal with the corrupt Time Masters? Let's just say that's a future project of mine for all of you to look forward to though I make no promises as to when it will be available.
