Day One - Holiday Decorating

The Weasley's are busy decorating the Burrow ready for the holiday season. Meanwhile, the Malfoy's are decorating the drawing room of their manor, the only room they actually decorate themselves.

A/N: This ones a bit rubbish and very basic. Just a little look into how it might be with the two separate families decorating their respective houses, and I couldn't be bothered to write out a full on story because I couldn't really think of anything.

The first of December saw the Weasley family decorating the Burrow ready for Christmas.

Arthur had already put up the Christmas tree and was now decorating the fireplace with Ginny. Homemade knitted stockings hung either side of it, so as to avoid people walking into them and knocking them down on their way in and out of the Floo. They had festive ornaments for placing on the top, and Arthur was busy busy covering the surrounding area with fake snow from his wand.

Mrs Weasley and Hermione (who had been invited to help) were decorating the tree with many bright baubles in festive colours of gold and red. Classing Gryffindor colours for a classic Gryffindor family. The baubles were accompanied by a lot of tinsel and some coloured lights that were charmed to make pretty patterns across the tree.

Ron and Harry (who was staying at the Burrow for Christmas) were busy decorating the rest of the living room with garlands covered in red and gold, trying to get their part done as quickly as possible so they could go back to their game of wizards chess.

Fred and George had been tasked with decorating the outside of the house, not being trusted to not destroy anything inside. They were busy stringing lights all around the house with their wands and charming fake snow onto all the windows. They were currently in the process of kidnapping and hexing a couple of gnomes to stand guard either side of the door dressed as elves. They were also planning hanging charmed mistletoe above the front door to trap anyone who was trying to make their way on or out of the house.

In Malfoy Manor, however, things were running much smoother. The house elves had already decorated most of the house, leaving the smallest living room for the Malfoy's to decorate themselves as they did every year. It had started when Draco had been born, and they decorated the room they used for him to open his presents in together every year.

Narcissa was decorating the room with garlands of silver and green, typical Slytherin colours, while Draco and Lucius were busy assembling and decorating the tree with some simple, small white lights and baubles of silver and green to match the garlands.

Both families decorated in their own very different ways, but in the end, the festive cheer was easily spread throughout both houses in the same way: through love.
