Day Four - Fireplace / Floo
Draco arrives at The Burrow and is immediately assaulted with tinsel and stockings as he enters the festive kitchen.
A/N: Okay, so you might be learning by now (if you're somehow still here) that my one shots are pretty rubbish, and the endings are always terrible cause I never really know how to end them, but I've started this so I'm going to keep trying to continue anyway. Good luck reading them if you wish to!
'What time is Draco due, dear?' Mrs Weasley asked Hermione from over by the kitchen worktop.
'Any time now, I should expect,' Hermione replied from the doorway, checking her watch. She and Draco had been dating since the previous Christmas and he'd been invited to The Burrow for eggnog and sugar cookies.
'Thank you so much again for inviting him, Mrs Weasley.'
'Oh it's no problem at all, dear! You're both welcome here any time.'
Ron scoffed from his seat at the kitchen table where he was playing wizards chess with Harry.
'Problem, Ronald?' Hermione asked, her eyes narrowed in his direction.
'Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled you make each other happy, and he's nowhere near as bad as he used to be,' Ron began, turning to look cautiously at Hermione. 'But he's still a stuck up Slytherin,' he finished quickly.
'Ronald!' Molly scolded him as Hermione strode over and hit him upside the head.
'He's not as stuck up like he used to be,' Hermione defended her boyfriend. 'Granted, he can still be a little stuck up, but he's nowhere near as bad as before. Plus, he was actually really excited when I told him he was invited today. He said he never really got to do anything like this as a kid.'
'Oh bless him!' Molly cooed while Ron rolled his eyes.
Hermione strode back over to Molly at the other side of the kitchen to help her with some of the cookies. They only needed decorating. A moment later, they heard a whoosh from behind them indicating someone arriving in the floo, followed by a few choice swear words.
'What the bloody fuck is happening?' Malfoy's voice rang out the kitchen of the Burrow.
Hermione turned quickly to see he busy fighting with the stockings hanging over the fireplace. He was quickly becoming entangled in the tinsel that was unravelling around him as he swung about trying to get out of the fireplace safely, and failing.
'Draco! Here, let me help you,' Hermione rushed over with Molly in tow while Harry and Ron sat at the table guffawing.
'Why is there so much stuff here?' Malfoy exclaimed, still fighting with the stockings and tinsel.
'Sorry dear,' Molly apologised as she waved her wand in his direction and cleared the offending items away from him. 'The twins did a lot of the decorating and failed to secure the tinsel properly, and managed to ignore my request to hang the stockings either side of the fireplace instead of over it.'
'It's okay, Mrs Weasley, it was just a bit of a shock, is all,' Malfoy was calming down now he was free of the decorations, and felt bad for his rude arrival, especially after Molly had been so kind to invite him today.
'Still, I'll be having words with those two shortly,' Mrs Weasley said sternly before pulling him into a hug. He looked baffled and confused for a moment before awkwardly hugging her back. Harry and Ron were still chuckling and Malfoy sent them a glare over Molly's shoulder.
'Now, come on in dear and make yourself comfortable,' Molly told him as she stepped away and went back to decorating the cookies. 'Everything's almost ready and the rest of the family would be here soon.'
No sooner had she spoken than there was another whoosh from behind Draco. The fireplace had come to life again, this time present Fred and George, who had clearly decided to arrive together, which caused them to stumble upon their arrival and come practically flying out of the fireplace. Unfortunately for Malfoy, he was still stood directly in front of it.
'Shit!' Malfoy exclaimed as he was sent to the floor, Fred and George both falling on top of him a second later.
'Sorry about that, old boy,' Fred said in a mock posh accent.
'Yes, terribly sorry,' said George.
They were still lying on top of Malfoy, pinning him to the floor.
'Fred! George!' Molly bellowed at them, coming over and brandishing a cake decorating tool at them. 'Get off the poor boy this instant!'
Fred and George awkwardly clambered to their feet and Hermione stepped forward to help her boyfriend up from the floor and pull him out of the way of the fireplace and any further harm. Malfoy sent another glare in Harry and Ron's direction, both of whom were still laughing their heads off and almost collapsing to the floor.
He looked back to Hermione who was hugging him to her side and looking slightly sheepish.
'Welcome to the Christmas at the Burrow,' she said with a small smile, shrugging her other shoulder up as she did so.
