Day Six - Holiday Cards
Hermione wants to send out a holiday card and Ron worries it's too soon for them, leading Hermione to ask the dreaded 'Where are we?'
A/N: Yeah, that's right, I got inspired by a Friends episode for this oneā¦
'Hey everyone!' Hermione called as she stepped through the doorway of the Burrow.
'Hi Hermione,' they chorused back, waving her over to the kitchen table to join them.
'How's the winter weather treating you?' Ginny asked, knowing her friend wasn't the biggest fan of the cold.
'Terrible, but on the upside, I've brought the pictures from mine and Ron's trip to the Muggle ice rink last weekend.'
Ginny, Ron and Harry gathered at the end of the table with her in interest. Fred and George were still hovering around the middle discussing their recent business successes with Charlie, and Molly and Arthur were busy writing Christmas cards at the other end of the table.
Hermione rifled through her bag and pulled out the pictures to show her friends. There were a few still ones taken from her Muggle camera and some others taken from Ron's magical one. Thankfully her parents had been with them so they were able to ask them to take some of them together and get some moving ones without making any Muggles suspicious.
'Oh, here's a good one of us!' Ron exclaimed, stopping at a nice picture of the two of them waving and smiling at the camera, with the other skaters and the big Christmas tree in the background.
'It looks a bit like a holiday card,' Ginny told them, leaning forward to take the picture from Ron for a closer look.
'Hey, I've always wanted to send out a proper holiday card,' Hermione said, turning back to Ron. 'Do you wanna send this one out together?'
Ron sucked in air nervously.
'I dunno, 'Mione,' he began cautiously. Everyone else at the table had stopped what they were doing to focus on the young couple. 'Sending out a holiday card together, doesn't that seem a little fast to you?'
'Well, maybe a little bit, but what's the harm?'
'I just don't know if we're quite there yet,' he told her gently.
There was a moment of silence as everyone seemed to be holding their breath, waiting for Hermione's reaction.
'You know what? You're right, Ron. I guess we're not quite there just yet.'
Everyone exhaled at once.
'Okay good,' Ron breathed a sigh of relief. 'Thanks 'Mione, you're the best.'
'So, where are we then?' Hermione asked instead.
Everyone snapped their heads towards the couple again, wondering how on earth Ron was going to get out of this.
'Five Galleons Ron caves and sends out the holiday card to avoid this conversation,' Fred muttered to George.
'You're on,' he whispered back.
One week later everyone had received a holiday card with a moving picture of Ron and Hermione in front of a huge Christmas tree with people ice skating in the background signed 'Love Ron and Hermione'.
'Told you he'd cave,' Fred laughed as his twin handed over five Galleons.
